Although it never was as popular as the original series, The New Class had enough staying power to last for seven seasons, providing an anchor for the Saturday morning "TNBC" (teen NBC) lineup, even with its necessarily revolving-door cast, which featured a lot of bright and attractive young actors. Characters: BABAR: King Babar is a charming and charismatic elephant. He brought his love of the city back to the great forest and built the beautiful, happy kingdom of Celesteville. Though he is a dedicated ruler and world traveller, Babar is happiest when picnicking at the lake with his family or joining in the antics of his lively children.

CELESTE: Queen Celeste has also travelled the world and has had many great adventures. She has a regal presence, an engaging manner and a gentle sense of humour. The children adore their mother. After an active day with the family and governing the kingdom, Babar and Celeste enjoy watching the stars together from the palace veranda.

OLD LADY/ MADAME: From their first meeting in the city, the Old Lady and Babar shared a special friendship. She gave him a home and taught him about life in the city. Though she misses him greatly, she understood his decision to return to the forest. Babar built her a home in Celesteville, where she made the decision to stay and live with her friends, the elephants.

FLORA: Flora is fun-loving and strong-willed. She can more than hold her own with her two brothers. Whether building tree houses, sliding down the banister at the palace, or preparing a surprise breakfast for their parents, Flora is always immersed in the action.

ISABELLE: Isabelle was an amazing baby, walking early, talking early, even roller blading! Anything to keep up with the triplets. Pom, Flora and Alexander are enchanted with their little sister. Everyone in the kingdom admires Isabelle's independent spirit.

CORNELIUS: Cornelius, the oldest and wisest elephant in Celesteville, takes his job as Babar's chief advisor very seriously, whether accompanying Babar on state visits or organizing numerous Celesteville parades. When not working, Cornelius can often be found relaxing in a field with a butterfly net.

ARTHUR: Arthur is Babar's mischief-making cousin. He has an engaging smile, bright eyes and a friendly outgoing He often gets himself (and one or more of the children) involved with practical jokes and crazy stunts. He has nerves of steel and a heart of gold!

POM: Pom is the leader of the children. He is the biggest of the bunch and protective of his brother and sisters though he will gladly join in with Alexander in playfully teasing his sisters, Flora and Isabelle.

ALEXANDER: Alexander, the smallest of the triplets, is a non-stop ball of entertainment who is into everything and disarmingly naive about the commotion he causes.

ZEPHIR: Zephir is one of Babar's oldest friends, and is considered one of the family. He is the first to take off with Arthur and the kids on some crazy adventure. But Babar knows that Zephir can always be trusted to look after the children and bring them home safely.moreless

    Cartoon Network (ended 2000)
Welcome to the Mike Lu & Og Guide at TV.com. Mike Lu & Og is one of Cartoon Network's shows that belongs to a collection of original network series known as Cartoon Cartoons. It premiered on Friday May 7, 1999 during the Cartoon Cartoons Fridays block. The show features a spunky, red-haired girl named Mike (short for Micheline; call her that and you'll be in big trouble), who's a foreign exchange student from Manhattan, New York, a stuck-up island princess named Lu, her cousin Og, a native boy and a scientific genius who can come up with a number of inventions as they go through the wackiest adventures as Mike learns the customs of the island of Albonquetine and the natives, in turn, learn of American culture. REGULAR CHARACTERS: Mike, a young girl from New York City who is stuck on the island. She's an exchange student on the island paradise of Albonquetine and is doing her best to fit in with the natives, while keeping her New York attitude. She often tells the islanders about common items and aspects of American culture that are rather new to them. Lu also known as LuLu, or "Princess Lu" (mainly to herself) is the island's resident brat. She has a pet turtle named Lancelot, who's friendly, but usually treated meanly by his mistress, who spends most of her time trying to get attention or trying to get rid of Mike, because most times she's able to steal the spotlight away from her. Og is Lu's cousin and gets along well with pretty much everybody. He's a genius, so he spends most of his time in his "lab" which is actually a little workshop inventing things for use on the island...many of the items he invents are food or for play (hot dogs made of coconuts for Mike, a sidewalk all over the island for skating, etc.) Alfred is Og's father and a kind man, albeit absent-minded sometimes. His main hobby is hunting, usually with a bow and plunger-tipped arrows. He particularly goes after a very elusive wombat, who with wit or dumb luck often gets away. Margery is Alfred's wife and Og's mother. She's skilled at island cooking and an artist, specializing in sculpting with chisels. She works hard, but often takes time to stop for a cup of tea at least once a day, for it's always an island custom. Wendel is Lu's father and governor of Albonquetine Island. He's often at home passing laws and approving documents, but also helps the islanders celebrate special holidays and reminding them of their history. He has a pet parrot named Skipper who at times can get on his nerves, but would be lonely without him. Queeks is the island elder the gang seeks for advice. He also has magic abilities that at times can go awry. He's a good old man, but often cranky. RECURRING CHARACTERS: Goat, Pig, and Spiney (the Porcupine) make up the island's Philosophical Society with Og. They have weekly meetings discussing various topics, a number of which lead to debate. They're all intellectuals, but speak only in Og's presence and act like regular animals when anyone else walks by. The Pirates, consisting of The Captain, Mate and Bos'n, live off the island where there's little food and they're always hungry as a result. Their favorite delicacy is turtle soup which usually leads to danger for Lancelot if they ever cross paths, as he's sure to be captured and put in their pot. Fortunately for him, Mike, Lu and Og are always around to rescue him. The Cuzzlewits are the clan that live on the other side of Albonquetine Island. They're wilder and more savage than the regular gang Mike knows. But there's at least one exception with preteen girl Hermione, who's smart and sophisticated, particularly by they way she speaks. She not afraid to offer her opinions and advice and is friendly to Mike, Lu, and Og. But she has two younger brothers Haggis and Baggis, who more than make up for their sister's lack of wildness. Other links to Mike, Lu, & Og: wikipedia imdb big cartoon database Lineup History: The show premiered on Cartoon Network on May 7, 1999. It ran for two seasons from June 1999-August 2000 with 2 shorts per half-hour block. It went off that network a couple of years later, but returned on sister channel Boomerang in late 2006, where it's certain to remain. Opening theme song: (To a calypso beat) Mike, Lu, and Og--On the island, Mike, Lu, and Og--Pretty island, Where nobody goes. Palm tree and blue sky, Fish are jumping high, It's an island where nobody knows. Ain't no burger stand, Ain't no disco band, On the island where nobody goes. Whooooo-whoooo-whooo-weee! Tiny Toon Adventures is basically a kid-version of the classic Warner Bros. cartoon stars and their cartoons. This show is hosted by Buster and Babs Bunny (No relation!) and their friends Plucky Duck, an egotistical power crazy duck much like Daffy Duck, and Hamton Pig, a shy, kind-hearted pig with low self-esteem but just like Porky Pig, but is a Neat Freak. The toons are constantly terrorized by Dizzy Devil, a purple version of Taz; Elmyra Duff, a dangerously childish, animal loving freak of nature which makes any animal who comes near her run; and lastly, we have rich kid Montana Max, who goes by the philosophy that rich people never pay and hates everyone and everything. The toons get their vast cartoon smarts from the Acme Looniversity school, with the famous Warner Bros. cartoon stars as teachers. The school also had a rival as well, Perfecto Prep., a school with a reputation of cheating characters. Tiny Toon Adventures was a treasure trove of pop-culture cliches and paid homage to many of the classic Warner Bros. cartoons of yore. Currently not on TV in the U.S.A.moreless

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, based on the popular computer game, was first seen in September of 1991 and became one of the most popular kids' game shows of all time. The series aired on PBS, probably the best place to reach it's target audience. Like the computer game, the game show's basic purpose was to ultimatly capture the head of an international crime syndicate. In this case, the head was Carmen Sandiego and in each episode she would send one of her henchmen out to steal a national landmark. The contestants job was to use their knowlegde of geography to track each criminal from country to country and city to city with the goal of capturing the henchman, restoring the landmark to it's home, and whom ever got enough points would have the chance to capture Carmen. The game show was hosted by Greg Lee and the contestants were given orders from The Chief, played by Lynne Thigpen, who ran the ACME Detective Agency. Rockapella was the singing group that sang the popular theme song and helped give the contestants clues. The V.I.L.E. Henchmen
Carmen's henchman consisted of Vic the Slick, The Contessa, Robocrook, Top Grunge, Eartha Brute, Patty Larceny and Double Trouble. Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers was mainly about Chip and Dale's adventures in fighting crimes that the police think are too small to handle. Together, with the help of Gadget Hackwrench, the inventive and industrious girl mouse, a blue fly named Zipper, and Monterey Jack, a husky, strong mouse with a killer addiction for cheese, they match wits with evil scientists like Professor Nimbul and crooked cat underworld leader Fat Cat and his gang. This series first began on the Disney Channel in the spring of 1989, and then it had a long life on The Disney Afternoon block of shows. Main Characters Chip: The brave leader of the Rescue Rangers, resembles a pint-sized Indiana Jones. He is by far the most practical member of the team and his loyalty to the others never wavers, even if Dale does try his patience at times. Dale: He is much more excitable than Chip, a fact reflected in his fondness for garish red-and-yellow Hawaiian shirts. Has a fondness for comic books, science fiction and tall stories in general. Gadget Hackwrench: The only female Rescue Ranger is a brilliant inventor and created all the teams vehicles. The daughter of one of Monty's old friends, she is more than just a pretty face. Monteray Jack: Known to his friends as Monty, he is the eldest of the Rescue Rangers and was an explorer before he joined up with Chip and Dale. Has an addiction to cheese, which sometimes lands himself and the others in trouble. Zipper: A fly who hung round with Monty on his travels, he is the smallest Rescue Ranger. But what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in courage. Fatcat: As his name suggests, he is an overweight cat who used to belong to the first human villain the Rangers ever put behind bars. He is greedy, arrogant and short-tempered and is forever looking for some means of dominating the world. Meps, Wart, Mole and Snout: These are Fatcat's stooges. Meps is also a cat, while Wart, Mole and Snout are a lizard, a mole and a rat respectively. Professor Nimnul: A crazed human professor who is forever coming up with new devices with which to dominate the world.moreless

    Legends Of The Hidden Temple

    Follow
    Nickelodeon (ended 1995)
Legends of the Hidden Temple was a show that aired in mid-September 1993. Kirk Fogg, the host, would be introduced by Olmec, a large talking rock in the middle of the stage. Kirk Fogg would ask Olmec what legend they'd hear about that day, and Olmec would name a historical figure and an item used by them. (i.e. Galilleo's Cannonball, The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley, the Lost Lion Tale of Little John, etc.) Kirk would then repeat what Olmec said and would then introduce the teams. ROUND 1: THE MOAT The Moat started off with all six teams (The Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkies, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes). Each team consisted of a boy and girl. The Moat was a small pool built into the stage. After the teams were introduced, Kirk Fogg (the first year) or Olmec (years 2 and 3) would tell the teams how to cross the moat. Sometimes it consisted of climbing across tire swings, paddling your way across and other creative ways. Falling into the water usually made the team go back to the starting line and try again. Once the first partner crossed, the second partner would usually cross the moat in the same manner. Once both partners got to the other side, they would hit their gong. (which was basically a small podium with a button that lit up and made a sound once the player hit it) The first four teams to hit their gongs would proceed to the Steps of Knowledge. The two other teams would be eliminated. ROUND 2: THE STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE The four teams leftwould be at the top of a roll-away staircase. Olmec would tell a brief story about how the Historical Figure came across and/or used the artifact that he mentioned at the beginning of the show, and after the story, Olmec would quiz the players on their memory of the story. If a team thought they knew the answer, they'd buzz in by stomping on an "ancient marking" in front of them. If they got the question right, they would move down a step. If they gave an incorrect response or took too long to answer, they would be excluded from answering the question and the other teams would get the chance to. Once a team got three correct answers, they'd move down to the bottom level of the stairs and move on to Round 3. Once two teams accomplished that, both would move on to the Temple Games. ROUND 3: THE TEMPLE GAMES The two remaining teams went on to the Temple Games. There were three temple games...one for the boys, one for the girls, and one for both. The first two would be played for half a pendant of life, and the third would be played for a full pendant. Each Temple Game required the players to do a physically challenging task, such as knocking down opponents statues, tossing a (fake) boulder to your teammate and having them catch it, and other things like that. Each Temple Game usually lasted for 60 seconds. Whichever team won or was further along in that time won the game and would recieve the pendant it was worth. If the game was a tie, both teams would get the pendant. At the end of the third Temple Game, whichever team had the most pendants went on to the fourth and final round. If both teams had the same amount of pendants, a tie-breaker question was asked and whichever team got it right went on to the Temple. No pendants could be won from a tie-breaking question. ROUND 4: THE TEMPLE This is probably the most exciting round of the game. The last remaining team would navigate Olmec's temple (which consisted of 12 rooms). Before they entered the Temple, Olmec would explain how to open the doors in all the rooms of the temple. However, there were at least two doors leading out of almost every room, and there was no telling which one would open once the objective to open the door was completed. The pendants of life earned in the temple games played a huge role in how the team could do in the temple. In three rooms, there were temple guards. If you went into a room with one, it would come out and grab the player. If the player had a full pendant handy, they could give it to the Temple Guard and the Temple Guard would back off. If the player did not have a full pendant, the Temple Guard would take them out of the Temple and their teammate would have to go in and finish the job. In one of the rooms was the artifact mentioned at the beginning of the show. If they grabbed it, all the doors to the Temple would unlock and any of the remaining Temple Guards would retreat. The team had 3 minutes to go in the temple, grab the artifact and come out. If the team had 1 1/2 pendants, the other half of a full pendant would usually be in a well hidden part of the Temple. Getting it would give the team an extra life and an invulnerability to temple guards and could only lose if time ran out. If the team got the artifact and came out of the temple, they would win the grand prize.moreless

Long ago, there was a thriving civilization of small humanoid bears called Gummi Bears. Possessing powerful magic and advanced technology, this race coexisted with humans until the growing rivalry forced the Gummis to flee across the sea, leaving only a small caretaker colony to prepare for a possible return. However, generations passed and the colony forgot their purpose even as human knowledge of the race faded into mere legend. All that changes when the colony meets a boy with a Gummi Bear medallion which unlocks the Great Book of Gummi which reveals lost knowledge of their past. Now the colony has dedicated themselves to the new goal to rediscover their heritage with the help of a few trusted humans while preventing new enemies like Duke Igthorn from exploiting that heritage to their own ends. Gummi Bears was part of what many consider Disney's "Golden Age" what that actually means is that is was when Disney had quality writers, characters, theme songs ect ect. A very popular and award winning show in the mid-1990's, it encouraged children to read by alternating the main storyline of the show with a classic novel/play/short story with a parallel premise. Wishbone included catchy music and a memorable theme song: What's the story, Wishbone? Do you think it's worth a look? It kind of seems familiar Like a story from a book What's the story, Wishbone? Cartoon Network (ended 1997)
Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures is based on the series from the sixties (this series is now known as Classic Jonny Quest) and the series from the eighties (known as The New Adventures of Jonny Quest. The series from the sixties was created by Doug Wildey and produced by Hanna-Barbera, Inc. The New Adventures of Jonny Quest were created to complete the fourth half-hour of the syndicated Sunday line-up, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera. In Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures Jessie Bannon, the daughter of Race, appears for the first time and she takes an important role in this series. The Story 14-year-old Jonny Quest invariably finds adventure in exotic locations around the world with his father, renowned scientist/explorer Dr Benton Quest. They are accompanied by Benton's adopted son and assistant, Hadji; Dr Quest's personal bodyguard, Race Bannon; and Jessie Bannon, Race's teenage daughter. And, of course, Jonny's faithful dog Bandit. One more exotic locale has been added to the travelogue - QuestWorld, a virtual-reality system invented by Benton Quest. Questworld is employed in recreating imaginary or otherwise inaccessible environments. The Questworld system has since been expanded by his son, Hadji and Jessie to include recreational uses as well. In the course of their adventures, the Quest team runs into resistance from a number of sources, ranging from former KGB operatives to their own government to the forces of nature herself. They also receive help from fellow seekers after knowledge, and sometimes from unexpected sources - such as a renegade nuclear submarine captain who targets whaling boats. Jonathan "Jonny" Quest Jonny is extremely curious and loves action. Whenever he is on a journey, he uses his wits to escape from trouble. He has a well-developed sense of responsibility, although he tends to be impatient and even reckless. Very loyal, campassionate, and adventurous, Jonny always puts others before himself. Hadji Quest-Singh Adopted by Dr. Quest, he is also his assistant. The mature and intelligible boy accompanies his mentor on all of his scientific excursions. Specializing in computer programming and general electronic know-how, and is an able backup for any situation. He seems to have a slight problem with heights. A wise person who is always by Jonny's side, teaching him new things and helping solve problems. He has also inherited psychic powers from his parents. Jessica Margaret Leya "Jessie" Bannon She has learned a lot from his father to become intelligent and resourceful. She has a special inclination towards computers and communications equipment, which she manipulates with ease. Her eagerness to participate in and sometimes initiate the Quest team's often rigorous activities does not in any way diminish her femininity. Roger T. "Race" Bannon He used to be a government agent and is now Dr. Quest's bodyguard and Operations Manager. The father of Jesse, he is experienced with piloting any vehicle and has a large knowledge of weapons and security. Benton C. Quest The doctor is a world-renowned phenomenologist, archaeologist, scientist and explorer whose daily commute ranges from 2 to 2000 miles. He has spent most of his life researching strange phenomena all around the world, and now is frequently commissioned as a consultant in such matters by individuals, institutions and governments alike. This has helped him build a personal fortune that allows him to pursue his own interests.moreless

    ABC (ended 1972)
The Bugs Bunny Show was ABC's second prime-time animated series, along with The Flintstones and aired at 7:30 pm on Sundays. Not only was it one of the earliest broadcasts of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies on televsion, it was popular for kids since it was a cartoon. Each episode was directed by a handful of senior Warner staffers, including, Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, and Maurice Noble. The show would open with Bugs and Daffy marching out on stage singing "This Is It" which became an instint musical hit among animation and television fans. Then Bugs would introduce a theme or a special guest host. Three cartoons would run and segments were placed between each one. After the second segment a commerical would run. The commerical would exclusively feature one or more of Warner cartoon star which was usually Bugs adverising either Kool-Aid, Tang, or Post Cereals. At the end "Coming Attractions" would be viewed as a sort of "sneak preview" of next week's show. The show was compised of exclusively post-1948 Warner cartoons since it was ownership of the shorts was divided-which Guild Films had owned most of the black and white cartoons while A.A.P. owned all the pre-1948 color shorts-and the 1931-1933 black and white Merrie Melodies. ABC stopped running The Bugs Bunny Show and soon CBC in Canada started showing an/the entire 3rd season in the early 70s, since ABC had cancelled The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour for "Welcome Back, Kotter". These "new" episodes were actually just color version of the older episodes-with the three cartoons changed. With this additional 3rd "cheater" season, there were 78 episodes total. Today The Bugs Bunny Show remains one of the best and most memorable programs in television history. MORE INFORMATION Until 1966 all 52 episodes were originally shown in black and white. Later all 52 episodes were put into color. In September, 1971, the half-hour Bugs Bunny Show reappeared, on Saturday mornings.moreless

    FOX (ended 2000)
Picking up where the blockbuster motion picture left off, Godzilla: The Series is a new fast-paced animated adventure series that pits humanity against a new generation of giant monsters. Born of radiation on a French Polynesian island, GODZILLA wreaks havoc on the city while attempting to find a nest to give birth to its young. The overgrown lizard appears unstoppable, until biologist NICK TATOPOULOS and French Secret Service operative PHILLIPE ROACHE team up to take down the beast. Life in the greater Tri-State area begins to return to normal, well almost! It appears the late, great King of the Monsters has left behind an heir to the throne. During a routine clean-up sweep of the city's decimated subway tunnels, Nick encounters the hatchling during its crucial imprinting stage. Rather than attacking Nick, the creature actually bonds with him as a bizarre pseudo-parent figure. Parting company with the military task force headed by Major Hicks, Nick recruits his own environmentally-directed research outfit - HEAT(Humanitarian Ecological Analysis Team). Recruiting a few of his colleagues from the original Godzilla. research team, as well as some new allies, Nicksets out to study not only this new generation of Godzilla., but also to investigate the increasing reports of unusual beasties and other environmental anomalies popping up across the globe. Monsters of all types - natural, unnatural, man-made, alien, regal, reptilian, mammalian, insectoid, flying, floating, poisonous, electrified - have begun appearing on the scene weekly. Is it a result of nuclear testing? Or a hole in the ozone layer? Whatever their origin, the beasts have humanity terrified and desperately in need of heroes. Officially an extension of the New York Institute of Technology's "World Assistance Program," HEAT is soon to become the Earth's foremost Anti Monster Squad. Setting up a small research compound inside a derelict ferry terminal on the tip of Staten Island. HEAT headquarters quickly becomes a staging area for defending the world against monstrous threats and also for careful study of the young mutant reptile. Besides the research compound, their main HQ is a barnacle-covered vessel called "The Heat-Seeker." The military is not a strong believer in HEAT or the value of Godzilla. While Major Hicks is willing to give Nick a little leeway with his pet project - just so long as the pet doesn't level any major cities - his superiors put their faith in more conventional weaponry. Each exciting episode of Godzilla: The Series was a pulse-pounding monster-hunt driven by our investigative HEAT team (accompanied by their 180-foot giant reptile), as they travel the globe defending mankind against mutant threats.moreless
