    The Adventures of TinTin

    The Adventures of TinTin

    (ended 1993)
Welcome to The Adventures of Tintin guide at TV.com. This animated series is based on the Belgium comic of Georges Remi, better known as Hergé. For 75 years the comics are very popular in Europe. In 1991 Nelvana Studios decided to create an animation series about the reporter. The movies that were made so far, were very disappointing but the series became a big success. About the show The show is about the young reporter Tintin and his dog Snowy. For some reason, everywhere he goes, Tintin is always getting into trouble. He's traveling all over the world and whenever it gets messy, Tintin can count on his loyal friends; like Captain Haddock, General Alcazar and the young Chinese boy Chang. About the characters Tintin is the main character of the seires, he is a reporter, with a taste for adventure, he is clever and many times has narrowly avoided death, only to quickly run back into danger. Through doing this he has brought many criminals to justice, stopped many crime rings and saved his friends lives many times. Snowy is Tintin's dog. He is very good at sniffing out enemies, chewing through ropes tying up his master, and scaring gorillas with a single bark. He has saved Tintin many times over. Captain Haddock is an alcoholic, he loves Loch Lomond whisky and is often drinking it despite being president of the S.S.S. (Society of Sober Sailors). He is often dragged into adventures that he does not wish to go on, but once on them he is courageos, especially when he gets mad and an array of bizzare insults can be found flying from his mouth. Professor Cuthbert Calculus is a sheer genius, despite being almost completely deaf, or as he puts it "just a little hard of hearing." He seems only to properly hear the phrase "stop acting the goat" wich enrages him beyond compare. His devices have been what got Tintin into many adventures and what got him out of many adventures alive. Thomson (curly moustache) and Thompson (strait moustache) are a couple of buglung idiot detectives, despite being so stupid they are among the most fun characters to watch about because of the idiotic stunts. I guess that's just what happens when your motto is "dumb's the word." Bianca Castafiore, A.K.A. the "Milanese Nightingale, is a powerful opera singer, in the sence that whenever the Captain hears her sing it reminds him of a hurricane that hit his ship in the West Indies. Despite her many appearances singing she is only heard to sing "The Jewel Song From Faust" in all of the adventures. Chang is a young Chinese boy who Tintin rescued from a flood which claimed his parents. Chang was later adopted into the family of an old Chinese man who helps Tintin stop a drug ring in "The Blue Lotus." Tintin rescues Chang again in "Tintin in Tibet" where Chang is trapped in the Tibetan mountains being cared for by a yeti. General Alcazar is the part time president/dictator of the republic of San Theodores, the other time he is rebelling to gain back that power from General Tapioca. Eventually Alcazar becomes a knife thrower on the music hall stage under the name of Ramon Zarate. Rastapopolus is prime evil, and he'll tell you himself if you give him a needle of special truth serum. He seems to be the leader of every crime organization in the Tintin books, he smuggles everything from opium to slaves, and even kidnapped a millionaire and held him to his own ransom. Needless to say Tintin foils al of Rastapopolus's plans. Rastapopolus is also known as "The Marquis di Gorgonzola". Nestor is the Captain's dedicated butler, who has more than his hands full taking care of Captan Haddock's house. He was once butler to the notorious Bird brothers, of whoms plans he did not participate, he was simply their butler.moreless

Dexter Douglas is a mild-mannered teenager who, while logged onto the Internet one Christmas, is thrust into a horrible crash on the information superhighway and transformed into an electrifying superhero. He's average, predictable, the middle of the bell curve and the center of the silent majority, which most consider completely dull and boring; the type of person who just blends into the crowd. However, all this changes when he turns into the Freakazoid, a lightening haired superhero who wears red underwear and uses his new abilities to fight evil and do battle with villains such as the Lobe. That is, unless Cosgrove, his best friend and chief of police, can suggest something better to do. With his many trusted sidekicks, his fabulous Freakalair and his girlfriend Steph by his side, he's ready to save the day; that is, unless there's something better on TV. He's always on the hand with good advice for our hero and he typically has a neat idea about how to spend the afternoon. While he's not always useful, he usually does come along to bust the bad guys when Freakazoid managed to defeat the villains. Steph is both Dexter and Freakazoid's love interest; she's considered an attractive character but is romantically interested in Freakazoid, which makes Dexter upset; though it does permit her to be around to help Freakazoid save the day at times. The Lobe is Freakazoid's archenemy; he's always coming up with diabolical schemes that will help him take over the world, though despite his huge brain, he's always running into Freakazoid's opposition at every turn. But then again, this is no ordinary school, and Ickis, Krumm and Oblina are no ordinary students either... Welcome to the land of AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, where, at the Monster Academy, up-and-coming students learn the terrifying tricks of the monster trade, and get the necessary qualifications for a life of advance scarifying (their GCS-Eeks?).

Here, the insecure Ickis, the stinky-armpitted Krumm, and the candycane-shaped Oblina deal with issues like how to best scare supermarket shoppers, where to hide under the bed, and what to do with your eyeballs when you're not holding them in your mouth (here's a hint: juggle them).

All of this goes on under the watchful eyes of their teacher, the fearful Gromble. While these walking nightmares always find new ways to get into trouble, they survive their adventures by sticking together, sometimes literally!

    (ended 1996)
Saban's VR Troopers was the first official "sister series" to the most popular "action fighting kid show" at the time,Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Much like it, this was an Americanization of a Japanese special effects children's program by Toei Company LTD. The show focused on three young adults in their late teens, Ryan Steele, Kaitlin Star, and J.B. Reese, living in the West Coast town of Cross World City. They regularly attended and were teachers at "Tao's Dojo", a karate studio (Ryan was the most focused martial artist, J.B. was the computer wizard, while Kaitlin was a photographer/budding reporter for the local newspaper, the Underground Voice Daily). One day, Ryan's search for his long missing father led him and his two friends to a strange laboratory. Inside, a digitized head of Ryan's father's friend, Professor Hart, explaind the truth about his life's work, having developed extremely advanced virtual reality technology in secret. VR is in actuality a dimension existing alongside our own, and within it lie mutants and monsters bent on conquering both worlds. The main ruler of them is a creature known as Grimlord, who, unbeknowst to anyone on Earth, has a human identity as billionaire industrialist Karl Ziktor. As he tries to break down the barriers of the true reality to allow his armies easy passage from virtual world, it's now up to Ryan, Kaitlin, and J.B. to defend the planet from both sides of the dimensional barrier. Luckily, they've got assistance, in the form of armored bodies with incredible firepower. This included eventual additions to their arsneal, such as a Turbo Cycle, Techno Bazooka, and a flying, laser-blasting Skybase! Other regular characters on the show included Jeb, Ryan's hound dog, who, after an accident in Prof. Hart's lab, is now capable of speech (and sounds like Jack Nicholson); Woody Stocker, Kaitlin's wacky hat-loving boss at the Underground Voice Daily; Percy Rooney, Kaitlin's bumbling rival reporter at the paper (and nephew of the mayor); and Tao, the wise martial arts sensei who owns the dojo. Recurring villains include General Ivar, a vicious rocket-shaped monster with his own tank; Colonel Icebot, a cold blooded virtual menace; Decimator, a sword-wielding warrior; the Skugs, gold headed foot soldiers, and more throughout. During the second season, the show changed format very slightly. Ryan's father was finally found, though he wouldn't remain safe for long. With him, came an upgrade to Ryan's V.R. armor. Grimlord switched from working in a dungeon to a massive spacecraft, and added new Generals such as DoomMaster (and his Vixens), Oraclon, and Despera. The Skugs now had the ability to become more powerful in the form of Ultra-Skugs! During the first season, footage of V.R. Ryan came from the 1987 Toei Metal Hero series, "Chou Jinki Metarudaar" (Super Man Machine Metalder). During the second season, V.R. Ryan's new form and villains came from the 1984 Toei series "Uchuu Keiji Shaidaa" (Space Sheriff Shaider. Both seasons. V.R. J.B. and V.R. Kaitlin's footage came from the 1986 Toei Metal Hero series "Jikuu Senshi Supiruban" (Dimension Warrior Spielban). Original footage was more common in the second season than the first. Saban's VR Troopers was a co-production of: Toei Company, LTD. and Cyberprod, Inc. It was originally copyrighted by Saban Entertainment, Inc. and Saban International, N.V., which is now known as BVS Entertainment, Inc (a part of the Walt Disney Company). _The theme song (written by Shuki Levy & Kussa Mahchi):_ Countdown control Four, three, two, one We are, we are VR, We are, we are VR, We are, we are VR, We are, we are VR! Syfy (ended 1999)
Sonic Underground premiered in 1999, and is the third U.S animated adventure to feature Sonic The Hedgehog, as with the previous two series, this show takes a slightly different direction and tone. This time, Sonic is one of three siblings, who together, are known as the hit rock band "Sonic Underground". In addition to being a rock band, the siblings are also the children of Aleena, queen of Mobius, who hid her kin away at an early age to keep them safe from the evil dictator who overthrew her: Sonic's age-old enemy, Dr. Robotnik. Robotnik learns of a prophecy that the hedgehogs will one day defeat him, find their mother, and restore peace to the planet. He immediately schemes to ensure the super-charged siblings do not fulfil this premonition. But with the aid of powerful medallions, Sonic, his brother Manic, and their sister Sonia, are determined to take the fight to Robotnik and his SWAT BOTS, as well as take the fight for freedom to a whole new velocity level. NOTE: It was shown on the BKN (Big Kids' Network), which Sci-Fi was affiliated with until 2001. It was syndicated onto UPN, but originally was with the Sci-Fi Channel weekdays at 6 A.M. Central Standards Time. Sonic Underground Theme Song: Triplets Born The Throne Awaits A Seer Warns Of A Deadly Fate Give up Your Children, Seperate Bide Your Time, Lie in Wait Sonic Underground Sonic Underground They Made A Vow Their Mother Will Be Found The Children Grow, Learn What's Right Leaders Of The Freedom Fight They Seek Their Mother, She Knows They Do Is It Time? If She Only Knew.. Will the Prophecy come True? Sonic Underground Sonic Underground Queen Aleena: I long for my children, but I have to wait, to act too soon could seal thier fate... They Made A Vow Their Mother Will Be Found SONIC UNDERGROUND! CHARACTERS: SONIC: One character that definitely doesn't need to be introduced is Sonic the Hedgehog. He is the fastest and coolest hedgehog in all of Mobius. His famous Super Spin lets him buzz right through walls, robots, and any obstacle Robotnik can come up with. Just like the 2 previous cartoons, he's voiced by Jaleel "Urkel" White. MANIC: One of the new characters in "Sonic Underground" is Sonic's brother Manic. Being a drummer, his brain can sometimes be too busy listening to his own unique beat to focus on what's happening arond him. He doesn't have any speed skills like Sonic; the only one he has mastered so far is speed drumming. He too is voiced by Jaleel White. SONIA: Another character is Sonic's sister Sonia. Her musical instrument is a portable keyboard synthesizer which also serves her as a gun. While Sonia doesn't have Sonic's speed, she has an unique ability: the Super Twirl, which lets her accelerate into a whirlwind spiral.Belive it or not, she's also voiced by Jaleel White. DR. ROBOTNIK: Robotnik is the ultimate villain, which we all love to hate. He is as mean and evil-looking as always, and more determined to catch Sonic and his siblings than ever, removing the last threat that stands between his final triumph. Voiced by Gary Chalk, who you may remember as the voice of Grounder from AoStH SWATBOTS: The new model SWATBOTS are meaner and more dangerous than the version in the previous cartoon series. They are all hi-tech, sporting a red metal body and dark grey metal limbs. Dingo and Sleet: Dingo and Sleet are Dr.Robotnik's evil Bounty Hunters. Dingo is a buff and muscle-bound dingodile who is in love with Sonia and not too bright however he is able to transform into anything. Sleet is a very smart Wolf who can make up very good plans to catch Sonic and his siblings.moreless

    Sabrina: The Animated Series

    Follow
    ABC (ended 2000)
The show was made in 1999. It is the spin-off to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, the sitcom. This cartoon was completely different from the show itself. It featured our main character Sabrina except as a 12 year-old in Jr. High School just developing her powers. Her best friends are Chloe Flan and Harvey Dwight Kinkle. Chloe is the only mortal that knows that Sabrina is a witch, and Harvey is still Sabrina's secret crush. Together they have many adventures. Her rival is Gem Stone, the equivalent of Libby Chessler from the original show, and is incredibly rich. She still has the same aunts: Hilda and Zelda Spellman except they are teenagers, and she has an additional household member, Uncle Quigley. In this show even though Sabrina has her magic, she relies on a Spookie Jar to sometimes to help her cast spells. All of these characters help make the show as great as it was. Unfortunately Sabrina, the Teenage Witch was still greater so the show ended with only one season of 65 episodes. Though it has ended, it still is a great addition in Sabrina history and Viacom productions. However it wasn't the end for Sabrina: the show was slightly brought back in Oct. 2002 as a Nickelodeon TV-Movie! Sabrina the Animated Series: Friends Forever. Trivia(Not Goofs) -Did you know that this series was so popular that WB ended up making another spin-off called Sabrina's Secret Life -This series suffered the same fate of many Disney series, with only 65 episodes -Salem appeared in every single episode of this series -Hilda and Zelda are both voiced by Melissa Joan Hart, who played Sabrina in Sabrina: The Teenage Witch -Uncle Quiggley was created for this series, and only appears again in the spin-off Sabrina's Secret Life, but never is even mentioned in Sabrina The Teenage Witch DVD Release There is currently a DVD release in North America and Europe. Each DVD comes with 4 episodes and introductions by Melissa Joan Hart. The titles include: - A Witchmas Carol, that comes with the title episode, along with "Board & Sorcery", "Has Anybody Seen My Quigley", and "The Grandparent Trap". - Witch In Training, that comes with "Shrink To Fit", "Strange New World", "The Importance Of Being Norma", and "Anywhere But Here". - Bat Attack!, that comes with "Nothin' Says Lovin' Like Somethin' From a Coven", "Witchery Science Theater", "The Bat Pack", and "Field Of Screams" - Sabrina's World, that comes with "You Said A Mouse-ful", "Tale Of Two Kitties", "Key To My Heart", and "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?" He is assisted in this by two Noops, Rufus and Amberley, as well as his faithful Watchdog fish Albert (A hybrid of a fish and a dog)

But beyond the land of dreams, lies the Mists of Limbo, within the Mists of limbo, lies the Land of Nightmares, ruled over by the evil tyrant Zordrack , who schemes to infect the world's population with never-ending nightmares...

The one force that stands in his way is the power of the Dreamstone, which can repel bad dreams, and so he makes plans to steal it from the Dreammaker and destroy it.

With the aid of his squad of bungling Urpneys (commanded by Sergent Blob), Zordrack tries time and time again to aqquire the Dreamstone, but fails each time due to the courage and resolve of Rufus, Amberly, and the rest of the Noops, who will never let the dreams die!

The series' music was provided by Mike Batt,(in) famously known worldwide for writing the song "Bright Eyes" for the Watership Down soundtrack...

The series ran for 5 years, and was one of the biggest successes in the U.K...

Also detests the way Zordrack treats him and waits for the chance to seize control for himself...

    Dreamstone Lyrics (by Martin Gates)

I used to dream myself to somewhere else each night,

I dreamed in colour, 'cause I lived in black and white,

Until I chanced upon this road that led to you,

I could not see, how anything could be...

    (Main Chorus)

Better than a dream, stranger than my wild imagination,

If this is a real sensation

    It's better than a dream.

Higher than the moon, hazy like a beautiful illusion,

    Crazy and in confusion

    And better than a dream.

    (2nd lyrics)

I used to wish I was beyond some distant door,

I knew there must be more to life and now I'm sure,

No dream of pirate caves or indian braves,

Or magic carpets could ever be this good.moreless

Felix the Cat follows the offbeat adventures of that curious feline, Felix. The first episodes where shown in black & white silent cartoons before it's relaunch in the 1960s. Throughout the 1920s, Felix was arguably the most popular of all silent-era cartoon characters. His image was mass-merchandised and used to sell dolls, baby oil, and many other products. He even had his own brand of cigars. Not only that, but he was also the first thing to be broadcasted on television. Sadly, he has be all but forgotten about by most.moreless

This was a sketch comedy show for young adults that was very popular in the 1980s. The series began life as a live variety show in Ottawa, Canada in 1979, which featured comedy sketches, music videos, and call-in contests. After the first season, the series was given a massive retooling and became a videotaped sketch comedy series. Its biggest success came when the series found its way south to the United States and became one of the trademark shows of Nickelodeon, a new cable channel aimed at children, where it aired until 1992. YCDTOTV may be long gone, but one of the shows trademarks, people getting covered in green slime (usually when they said "I don't know?"), has become a Nickelodeon staple.moreless

Meitantei Holmes (Sherlock Hound) is, as of 12/31/04, the last TV series to be made by Hayao Miyazaki (Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away). The shows plot centers around Sherlock Holmes, along with the help of Doctor Watson, figuring out and stopping the evil schemes of Professor Moriarty and his henchmen Todd and Smiley. Miyazaki wrote the scripts for all 26 episodes, but he actually only directed 6 of them. The easiest way to tell these episode apart is to look at Professor Moriarty's henchman, Smiley; in a Miyazaki directed episode, he has green fur. Two of these episodes were theatrically released along with Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind in 1984. ("Blue Ruby" and "Treasure Under the Sea".) Opening Theme: "Sora kara koboreta Story" ("The Story That Fell From the Sky") by Da Capo Ending Theme: "Thames gawa no Dance" ("Dance of the River Thames") by Da Capo Show's Title in Other Countries: Sherlock Hound (English) Sherlock Holmes (French and Spanish) Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes (German) Il fiuto di Sherlock Holmes (Italian)moreless
