    Hey Arnold!

    Hey Arnold!

    Nickelodeon (ended 2004)
Hey Arnold! is a much-loved and popular Nicktoon on Nickelodeon. The whole basis of the show is Helga's love for Arnold, but a lot of episodes and storylines focus on Arnold and his friends. Hey Arnold! shows a variety of different characters - even the background characters have 1 or 2 episodes on themselves. Arnold is a good person and tries to do things right. People at his school seek him for advice and see him as their own advisor.

    Characters:

Arnold - Arnold is the main character of Hey Arnold!, Arnold is very helpful to others but gets too much into their business sometimes. Helga loves Arnold more than anyone else. But Arnold doesnt know it. Arnold's last name isn't revealed in any episode, but will be in the 2004 sequel, Hey Arnold 2! Arnold's nickname is "Football Head".

Gerald - Gerald is Arnold's cool best friend and the all-time keeper for the ancient legends of Arnold's neighborhood.

Helga - Helga is the meanest kid in Arnold's neighborhood for one reason - she loves Arnold! And no one else knows that! Helga's best friend and sidekick is Phoebe.

Harold - Harold is big and fat bully, and could swallow 50 Mr. Fudgie-bars whole! He's mostly hanging out with Stinky or Sid. Harold also thinks hes so tough but he always cries for his mommie.

Phoebe - Phoebe is the Smartie! She's very useful when Helga needs help with something... or needs her to do Helga's homework. Phoebe loves Gerald, so does Gerald but its hard to tell what's gonna happen. Phoebe also knows Helga's big-deep-dark secret about Arnold, but is positive she won't let it out.

Rhonda - Rhonda is the rich/cool girl. She's always depending on people to have a good fashion scene, though it never works. Rhonda is best friends with Nadine. Nadine likes everything the opposite of Rhonda and so does Rhonda but they still work out their fights.

Stinky - Though his name is Stinky, he's really not. This farm-yard boy is taller than any other and is always sharing his love about lemon puddin'.

Sid - Sid is always pessimistic about everything. He is very gullible and will believe anything anyone says. He's best friends with Stinky and Harold.

Eugene - Eugene is the clutz! Whether he turns a good day into a nasty storm, he's very optimistic about everything. He's also known as a geek to many others.

Grandpa and Grandma (Phil and Pookie) - Arnold's "substitute parents" are the craziest, most loving "substitute Parents" a kid could want! They're also Arnold's grandparents.

Oskar - Oskar is a resident of the boarding house that Arnold lives in. He loves money (but relies on his wife Susie for it), he can be very lazy at times.

Susie - Susie is Oskar's wife. She mainly does all the cooking, cleaning, and works since Oskar has only a paper route, and can be irratted by that sometimes.

Ernie - Ernie also lives in the boarding house and is a construction worker. His room his filled with blocks, each telling a story. Ernie is very short, but has a very big heart.

Mr. Hyunh - Mr. Hyunh is an asian man who came to the boarding house from China during Vietnam. He has a daughter and also a very good voice.

Mr. Green - Mr. Green owns the meat shop called "Green Meats". He's always there to help, and sell meat of course.

Curly - Curly is the cookoo one. He's always crazy like one time he locked himself in the principle's office and threw dodgeballs at people. Crazy, huh?

Ms. Vitello - Ms. Vitello is the very old, nice, and tender owner of the flower shop on Arnold's block.

Big Bob (Helgas Father) - Big Bob owns a beeper shop called Big Bobs Beepers. He is a bossy meanie(where Helga gets it from).

Arnold's Mom and Dad - From the episodes "Parents Day" and "The Journal", Arnold's parents write in a journal about all the adventures they had in the wild, saving people's lives and then having Arnold. From what everyone knows, they've never came back to where they went.

    Barney and Friends

    Barney and Friends

    PBS
Since 1992 Barney, Baby Bop, and B.J. have brought smiles to our faces with their non-stop adventures, stories, games, friends and, of course, the Barney Bag. Normally focusing on younger audiences, Barney teaches respect, courtesy, manners and many other essentials in life. Most children in the age group normally consisting of 2-8 watch Barney. Many of us have grown out of Barney but there are generations still to come who will enjoy Barney.

    Characters:

Barney: His role on the show is to show everyone a good time. He has great friends whom sometimes visit the kids and tell stories or take them on adventures. He even has a bag of goodies known as the Barney Bag.

B.J.: He visits on occasion to play with Barney and his friends. B.J.'s role on the show is simply to help out or play games although he normally visits because he's looking for something he has lost.

Baby Bop: Baby Bop, who carries her blankie wherever she goes, is kind-hearted and very polite. She normally tags along with her big brother B.J. She does, on occasion, lose her blankie but with Barney's help, she always finds it. ((Trivia buffs: Baby Bop's favorite number is three.)

Barney & Friends Theme Song (to the tune of "Yankee Doodle"):

Barney is a dinosaur From our imagination And when he's tall, he's what we call A dinosaur sensation Barney's friends are big and small They come from lots of places After school, they come to play And sing with happy faces Barney shows us lots of things Like how to play pretend ABCs and 1-2-3s And how to be a friend Barney comes to play with us Whenever we may need him Barney can be your friend, too If you just make-believe him.

    The Ending Song:

I love you You love me We're a happy family With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you Wont you say you love me too. I love you you love me We're best friends like friends should be With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you Wont you say you love me too.

    Codename: Kids Next Door

    Codename: Kids Next Door

    Cartoon Network (ended 2008)
The world is in danger! Only five ten-year-old kids and 1 who loves show are our only hope! Problem: Adults have become tyrants over kids. Solution: five kids decide to change that for themselves and the world. Join these five kids and 1 lover of knd (known by Numbuh 1, Numbuh 2, and so on) as they battle evil ranting (yet determined) grown-ups, candy pirates, their arch Nemesis, the Delightful Children from Down the Lane, their Father, a man of fiery powers and that was once known as "Mr. Wigglestines" and his many minions (such as Numbuh 5's older sister, Cree and ex-operative Numbuh 274, Chad). But they also have to deal with havoc amongst themselves... Characters: Numbuh 1 (Nigel Uno): Numbuh 1 is the bold leader of the group, hands down. With a fear of bugs and hate for the beach, he still can be the ultimate leader (he does have a girlfriend, and skill of thinking up great tactics and defense) and spare some time for an ice cream! He is the second youngest of the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 2 (Hoagie Pennywhistle Gilligan Jr.): With a skilled mind and knowledge of a buhzillion, Numbuh 2 is definitely the master in the building department. Also, with puns and jokes like that, what's not to love? He is the third oldest/youngest (In the middle) of the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 3 (Kuki Sanban): Hugs and Rainbow Monkeys are just as sweet as Numbuh 3 herself! Known as "The Flirt", this Asian does seem to hit the soft spot of most. However, she may be out-of-it at times, but when you mess with something she loves, you have to pay the price with a she-devil. She is the youngest of the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 4 (Wallabee "Wally" Beatles): Yes, his nickname ("The Tough Guy") does serve Numbuh 4 well. He sure has a knack for letting his actions speak, therefore making it easy as to what he's about to do. Though, underneath the hard shell, he has that soft spot (though doesn't show it) for people he cares for most. And some would say the person really up there is a certain happy girl. He is the second oldest of the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 5 (Abigail "Abby" Lincoln): Numbuh 5 would be put in a different crowd from the rest... This laid back girl always keeps her cool, yet sometimes can get a little impatient. All else aside, she is probably the guardian angel of the group, guiding the others, while not getting in the way of everyone's jobs. She is the oldest of the Kids Next Door. Numbuh 86 (Fanny Fulbright): Head of Decommissioning, defeat teenagers and adults, boss some kids around, this girl could do it all. Numbuh 86 is sure not only hardcore, but like Numbuh 4, soft on the inside. She may have a love for Rainbow Monkeys and thinks Numbuh 4 is pretty cute, but don't let that get to you. No matter what, she'll do her duties as decommissioning teens. Lizzie Devine: Lizzie is the infamous girlfriend of Numbuh 1, her Nigie. She was annoying at first, but the team has realized it could be much worse. Lizzie is the over-protetive type of her boyfriend and sometimes, jealous, but, she always is there to help Numbuh 1, even if she has to crash a couple of ships. Tommy Gilligan: Tommy looks up to his brother, Numbuh 2, and wants to be just like him. Of course, his love for his brother matches the amount of how much he annoys everyone... On the upper hand, he would make an excellent operative! If he can, that is... After a battle, he had to sacrifice his own membuhship to defeat the adults. Mushi Sanban: This little girl is almost exactly like her older sister, Numbuh 3. With the cuteness of a bummillion, she can just as easily get guys as her sister, "stealing" her "man", King Sandy. The Delightful Children From Down The Lane: The Delightful Children From Down The Lane are the KND's arch nemisesses. Working for their Father (see below) they are raised (or made) to give and serve the adults. But most kids, however, think they're creepy, for they talk and walk, and do just about everything as one. Father: Probably the most evil guy on the earth to attack the KND. Father is a conniving and scheming grown-up who happens to be the father of the DCFDTL (the Delightfuls'). He is bent on destroying the KND for interrupting his plans on adults ruling the world. However, he is no match for the KND! Cree Lincoln: Numbuh 5's sister, ex-operative Numbuh 11 (the best of her time), and one of Father's top worker is all Cree. She has it all, skills, knowledge, and a very suductive kiss, which Hank (who is Numbuh 2, teenagerized) has experienced first hand, she is an amazing teenager. But that's just it.. she's a teenager, working with the other side. Chad: Like Cree, Chad is an ex-operative (Numbuh 274, who, also, was the best), and he is also working with Father. He, too, has the skills, and the perfect kid--now teen--(in an adult's eyes), but he gets made fun of once in a while... for wearing a bra, which is really BRA (Battle Ready Armor) that can help him beat up any one and change into any one. Numbuh 362 (Unknown real name): She's the girl with the class and everything. Highest ranking, she is like president of the KND. And of course, she is one chick that Numbuh 86 admires. Of course, she tends to be rather annoyed with 86 easily. The Kid: Not much is known about this guy, but he sure makes Numbuh 2 want to beat him at everything, making him...basically, Numbuh 2's rival (even if he had to work with him). It also seems he likes to make other kids want to rival him, because he sure has Numbuh 4 on a knot for having a "fling" with Numbuh 3... Various Villians: Here's where you could start snoring because a long list of people ((Cough-Adults-Cough)) are coming your way! The list includes Mr. Boss (sort of the "Villian Leader", other than Father), The Toilenator (who just tries too hard and yet gets nothing), Sticky Beard (sort of Numbuh 5's rival, due to the candy-stash), The Cat Lady (self-explanatory), The Common Cold, Count Spankulot, and a whole lot more! They just keep on comin'! DNK: The Destructively Nefarious Kids. They're totally the opposite of the KND! Living in the opposite world (which entrance is through Numbuh 4's pool), everything and everyone in there is quite opposite of the KND's world. All the DNK are known as the "negatives" (i.e. Negative Numbuh 1, Negative Numbuh 2, etc.), and their names backwards. Luckily, by the end of the KND's journey to their world, they agreed to a truce that resolved their answers. Although, it makes you wonder if there would be more of the DNK... Rainbow Monkeys: Yes, they may not be characters, but are very important to the KND in many ways. Every girl couldn't live without them, and Numbuh 3 certainly wouldn't have her stuffed-animal filled room. Also, they are just as real as the KND themselves, but only a certain Asian girl would know. The Hamsters: The KND wouldn't, and couldn't sustain themselves with the power from the hamsters! They provide energy (like electricity) and can help with moving big things.moreless

    Characters:

James Isaac "Jimmy" Neutron Jimmy is a very smart kid, a genuine boy genius! But he's still the shortest kid in 5th grade, and he can't go out after dark. He spends his time inventing the wackiest gizmos and gadgets you can think of, and then saving the town of Retroville from the unintended results.... Jimmy is an only child and loves it ... most of the time, anyway. Any way you look at it, he's not your average, everyday kind of kid.

Carlton Ulysses "Carl" Wheezer Carl, Jimmy's best friend, loves llamas, and food, and sparkly, shiny things! His favorite channel is The Llama Channel, and one of his favorite activities is folding and hanging his pants! Carl is kinda like an old man trapped in a 5th grader's body. Nonetheless, he's still used as a test subject for many of Jimmy's inventions, and he usually goes along willingly. Although, one of these days, he's gonna end up in the hospital from helping science along....

Sheen Juarerra Estevez Sheen, Jimmy's other best friend, is completely, 100% obsessed with UltraLord. UltraLord, as Sheen would be quick to explain, is an action figure (not a doll) from the TV show The UltraLord Show. Sheen almost always has at least one of his many action figures with him, and he can relate anything to UltraLord. He is usually pretty funny and is the most maniacal character in Retroville.

Cynthia Aurora "Cindy" Vortex Cindy strongly believes that girls are better than boys, period. Especially if those boys are Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen. Cindy is the second smartest kid at Lindbergh Elementary, which really annoys her - she hates being second-best. But beneath her tough exterior, she secretly has a crush on the town's resident boy genius.

Liberty Danielle "Libby" Folfax Libby is Cindy's best friend. She's also something like a walking electronic store, since she's usually wearing her headphones, listening to her CD Player, talking on her cell phone, or any combination thereof. Libby sort of keeps Cindy sane, but she is always there to back her friend up.

Goddard Goddard is Jimmy's best invention, since nothing seems to go wrong with him. He's a living, metal, robotic dog who is very useful - he can do just about anything for Jimmy, like getting out tools or listing options. Goddard is actually a little smarter than Jimmy, and he can sometimes tell when an experiment will go wrong. But Jimmy always asures him that it will be fine.... Nick Dean Nick Dean is Mr. Cool according to the kids of Lindbergh Elementary. He can usually be seen with his helmet on, doing fancy tricks on his skateboard.

Jimmy's Parents Jimmy's parents are about as normal as their son. Jimmy's dad, Hugh Beaumont Neutron, loves pie and ducks. He's nice and everything, but Jimmy can't help wishing his dad was less embarrasing. Jimmy's mom, Judy Neutron, is more serious than Hugh, and she's where Jimmy got his intelligence. She's the cook and mechanic around the house, always fixing up pies and cars.

Miss Winifred Fowl Miss Fowl is the gang's 5th grade teacher. She sounds and looks much like a chicken. She's always willing to teach, even if Jimmy and Cindy are more like the teachers in the

Betty Quinlan Our favorite boy genius has a bit of a crush on this older girl. And the more appearances Betty makes, the more jealous Cindy becomes.

Bolbi Stroganovsky Bolbi is a foreign exchange student hailing from Bakheristan. Many of our American customs are still a mystery to Bolbi, but he is quickly adapting. One of his first American experiences was being elected student body president on soon after he began attending Lindbergh Elementary.

    The enemies:

King Goobot Goobot is the king of the planet Yolkus. After Jimmy's satellite-toaster lands on his ship, he kidnaps all the parents in Retroville and quickly transforms into Jimmy's worst enemy.

Ooblar Ooblar is the brother and sidekick of Goobot. He is often hilarious and crazier than the king.

Poultra Poultra is an enormous, mutant chicken. She used to be the chicken god of Yolkus, but she presumably left for another planet after the embarrassing incident with Retroville's kids and parents.

Professor Finbarr Calamitous Calamitous is a bumbling, evil genius who never finishes anything, sometimes including his own sentences! Originally, he was plotting to use Jimmy to help him take over Retroville, but now his main goal is to destroy Jimmy and his friends.

The Junkman The Junkman is an alien junk-dealer who kidnapped Jimmy's mechanical brother's parents, Mombot and Popbot, to turn them into Grava-Disks. All he cares about is making interstellar money. Also, Goddard appears to be in love with the Junkman's alien dog, Roxy.

Eustace Strytch Eustace is a spoiled rich boy who started his enmity with Jimmy in a kite contest. His desire is to have Goddard and to make Jimmy's friends of his own, thought he doesn't trust in anybody but him, his lots of money and his butler, who happens to make him company and responds to every one of his foiled plans.

Meldar Meldar is an alien who, using the power of matrix generators in his cuff links, forced different forms of life from different planets to play his game show, Intergalactic Showdown, where the losers got their home planet destroyed! Jimmy and the others got his show cancelled permanently, though, forcing Meldar to work on infomercials.

Twonkies Twonkies are cute and fluffy creatures from the comet Twonkus 9 ... at least, they're cute and fluffy until they hear music! Music causes them to mutate into horrible, ugly creatures that try to tear up the town, eventually combining together to form a sort of mega twonkie, and this is the Final state. The Twonkies continue to make cameos in episodes throughout the 3rd season. Be on the lookout for them.

Grandma Tatters Althought you can first think of her as a chubby and good-as-bread grandma, she's part of an evil race of aliens from outerspace who can control human's people emotions and make them all 'happy' zombies.

Dr. Moist A scientific and crazy genius. He managed to build his own lab in the Bermuda Triangle, at the bottom of the sea. People who passes through, Dr. Moist abducts them to his lab and turns them into Algae Men.

The cameras follows Nat and Alex through their concerts, their rehearsals, and their private lives, as they deal with the growing pains related to love, friendship, and fame. Disney Little Einsteins

    Disney Channel (ended 2009)
Little Einsteins takes us on an adventure with four children: Leo, June, Annie and Quincy. Each of these four children have their own specialization, Leo loves to conduct, Annie loves to sing, Quincy loves to play instruments while June loves to dance. The series uses various pieces of classical music as the basic fundamentals for the series, though the series also capitalizes on the premise and episodes typically have famous artwork within them. While Little Einsteins was designed to be an entertaining series, it was created by the creators of Baby Einstein, the pre-school learning program, so this series never leaves its primary focus of helping children learn to explore and introduce new concepts into their minds, though it certainly attempts to expand the viewer's curiosity.moreless

    Rocket Power

    Rocket Power

    Nickelodeon (ended 2004)
Rocket Power premiered on Nickelodeon on August 16, 1999, and can now be seen weekdays at 4:30 A.M EST onNicktoons Network, and on Sunday mornings at 6:00 A.M. EST on Nickelodeon. The show is about four friends who are addicted to action and extreme sports. Otto Rocket, his sister Reggie, and their pals Twister and Sam excel at just about every aggressive sport you can imagine. Their hometown of Ocean Shores, CA is the ultimate place for a game of hockey, skating the half-pipe or rollerblading on the boardwalk. There are extreme sports for all seasons, however, so don't be surprised if you catch the kids heading up to the mountains for snowboarding, ice hockey, and all manner of arctic action. All that competition can get, well, pretty competitive sometimes. So it's a good thing folks like Otto and Reggie's dad Ray and his business partner Tito Makani are around to remind everyone that way cool friendships are more important than winning events. Main Characters Otto Rocket: Otto is the leader of the group. As they say in the episode "All About Sam", he's a total action guy. He can be selfish and overly-competitive at times, and even more unreliable, but he tries to be a good friend, and more often than not, he does a pretty good job at it. He's also "rad" on wheels, waves and powder, and he plays a mean game of hockey! Reggie Rocket: Reggie is Otto's older sister, by two years. She's awesome at sports, and at times, she can be as competitive as her younger brother. She can be a little bossy sometimes, but she really doesn't mean to be. She is mostly the one who keeps Otto down to earth when he gets a bit too self-centered, and there are times when she acts as his conscience. So there's a lot more to this action-loving girl athlete that what she can do with a skateboard, a surfboard, a hockey stick, and a laptop. Maurice "Twister" Rodriguez: Twister is Otto's best bro. He's totally rad with his video camera, which he uses to tape all the extreme stunts he, Otto, and Reggie do. He's a little bit slow on the uptake, but in a totally sweet (well, the girls on this site think that) and comical way. Samuel L. "Squid" Dullard: Sam is probably the least extreme of the group, but that doesn't make him any less awesome. He's Reggie's best bro. He helps her publish her Zine on his laptop. Sam is pretty much the brains of The Rocket Gang, but it's his fear of risks that helps to keep the gang from going too far. Ray "Raymundo" Rocket: Ray has done a lot of things in his long life. But if the kids get into some trouble, they get a big punishment! Other then that he's a really nice guy. Tito Makani: Tito is a native of the beautiful state of Hawaii. He is really nice guy. He gives the "little cuzzes" Ancient Hawaiian advice and help with surfing. Sometimes he can go a little overboard with what he's doing, but it all comes out ok. From March 26 to April 8, 2002 a contest and show called Maximum Rocket Power Live: The Battle For Madtown Park where teams would compete in extreme sports like the Rocket Gang did. It got cancelled due to low ticket sales. It was supposed to tour cities all over the Midwest. The Show ended after the TV Movie episode "The Big Day" on July 30, 2004.moreless

    Liberty's Kids

    Liberty's Kids

    PBS (ended 2004)
Liberty's Kids was a truly "revolutionary" children's animated series by DIC. For as long as it ran on PBS, Liberty's Kids entertained seven- to twelve-year-olds while introducing them to the exciting stories and people behind the birth of a nation. The program unfurled its historical vignettes through the eyes of two teenage apprentices, Sarah Phillips and James Hiller, who worked in Benjamin Franklin's print shop and discovered first-hand the great adventures of the American Revolution. Benjamin Franklin's wise words and strong principled actions gave guidance to our young heroes, whether he is with them in Philadelphia or writing from across the ocean in France. James Hiller was a 14-year-old apprentice journalist at Ben Franklin's Print Shop. He idolized Dr. Franklin and hoped to run his own newspaper someday. Moses was born in West Africa. After learning the valuable job of smithing, he was able to earn enough money to buy his freedom back. Moses traveled to Philadelphia where he found employment taking care of Benjamin Franklin's printing press. Henri was an eight-year-old street urchin, who had been semi-adopted by Moses and James, who rescued him from a ship. He paid for his room and board by helping out around the print shop and learning how to read and write. Sarah Phillips was a bright 15-year-old girl from England. She helped James and Henri on their wonderful adventures. For a while, she found James' idea of liberty very agitating while working as a journalist to get the Loyalist side of each of James' stories. Liberty's Kids was designed as a 40-part miniseries, run on PBS September 2, 2002 to August 13, 2004. After that, cut-down versions were scattered to commercial stations. The Theme Song is performed by: Aaron Carter and Kayla I see a land with liberty for all Next thing I know the truth will rise and fall That's just the way it goes A word now to the wise The world was made to change Each day is a surprize I'm looking at life with my own eyes I'm searching for a hero to idolize Feeling the pain as innocence dies I'm looking at life through my own eyes I'll take my heart into battle Give that freedom bell a raddle Get my independence signed Declare for it on the dotted line Let Philadelphia freedom ring and patriotic voices sing Red, White and Blue Never give up You represent America! I'm hoping and praying for a brighter day I listen to my heart and I obey How can I see it any other way? I'm looking at life through my own eyesmoreless

    Dragon Tales

    Dragon Tales

    PBS (ended 2005)
Two Hispanic children, Max and Emmy, move into a new home. Like any young children, they're not quite happy at first about moving. Then, Emmy finds a secret drawer and inside is box containing a magical, shimmering dragon scale. Hmmm... there's some words on the box. What do they say? "I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons, in a land apart." The magical decorations fly around them, transporting them (and us) to Dragon Land.

Brought to you by Sesame Workshop (formerly Children's Television Workshop), the company that brings you Sesame Street it's Dragon Tales! Join Cassie, Ord, Zak & Wheezie, Quetzal, and their human friends, Max and Emmy in two daily adventures, each separated by a musical interstitial, "Dragon Tunes."

Dragon Tales has enjoyed two seasons and many years of success on PBSKids. The show's popularity has spawned book, video, DVD and CD releases and even a live stage show. Now, the show's popularity has prompted its return. The third season is now airing in repeats along with the first and second, featuring folk songs and a folk theme, as well as a new character named Enrique --- a pleasant looking fellow in an Arthureseque outfit who's moved in next door to Max and Emmy. As some new stories are being paired with past stories, keep an eye on this guide to find out what's new and what's not. The new Dragon Tales CD released on February 15, 2005, featuring 14 tracks, some previously available on CD, but some never-before-released ones as well, such as "Friends," "Hola," and "Speak Up."

After it's return in 2005, it's not yet known if any further new episodes will air. Please note that the show status is currently listed as On Hiatus / TBD, but that may change if it turns out the program will return.

Dragon Tales is going to be part of the new PBSKids "pre-school block." Watch for this special block of programming beginning this fall. It will feature two new PBSKids shows It's a Big Big World and Curious George along with this show and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Looking to find out even more about Dragon Tales? Try the show's PBSKids official website. Now updated for the third season, you can listen to songs, get character info, play games and much more at the official site. There's material for parents as well. Stop by Sesame Workshop's Pressroom also to get even more information on the third season.

    Character Guide:

Emmy: Emmy is six-years old and has an active spirit and sense of adventure. She's always ready to chip in her ideas, participate in fun games and sporting activities and help out all of her friends. However, her take-charge personality can sometimes rub the wrong way and she occasionally needs to take a step back when she becomes too close to the action. Her best dragon friend is Cassie and she usually rides with her.

Max: Max is Emmy's four-year old little brother. He's always happy to join her on an adventure to Dragon Land, but sometimes gets upset about being too small to do certain things. Although not as competitive or sporty as Emmy, he too delights in the fun adventures that Dragon Land has to offer. His best dragon friend is Ord and he usually rides with him.

Cassie: Cassie is a sweet and intelligent, but rather shy pink dragon. She often has many great ideas and is good at many things, but sometimes lacks the confidence to speak her mind. She gets help from all of her friends, especially Emmy, and from her teacher Quetzal. Family is very important to Cassie, as she has 72 brothers and sisters and sometimes helps her parents to take care of her little sister Kiki and her little brother, Finn.

    Birthday: May 16

Ord: Ord is a tall blue dragon who loves nothing more than to eat, particularly anything with dragonberrys in it. Though his tall height appears scary at first, he himself fears many things. One of his biggest fears is the dark, a problem he often wrestles with in the series.

    Birthday: September 9

Zak: Zak is not only a brother to his sister, Wheezie, he's also a very special partner. Zak and Wheezie are a dynamic duo, a two-headed dragon who often work together, but can also think quite independently. Zak enjoys the status quo, but his wild sister Wheezie often helps him to find a good time. Desiring peace, Zak often finds himself at the receiving end of various indignities --- from food on the head to a fish blowing bubbles straight in his face.

    Birthday: July 21

Wheezie: Wheezie is a high-strung dragon who loves singing, doing wild things and shouting and singing about the things she loves. Sister of and joined with Zak, she can't always understand his desire for her to calm down. Still, the two always find in the end that they wouldn't have it any other way.

    Birthday: July 21

Quetzal: Hailing from some sort of Dragon Land Mexico, apparently, Quetzal is a wise dragon teacher who instructs the kids and dragons at the School in the Sky. Unlike other dragon adults, he's only a bit larger than the kids, to keep him easily recognizable to the viewing audience. Quetzal has a magical book that contains reference on many things in Dragon Land. He's always a great source of advice, but tries as best as possible to only help the kids and dragons in solving their own problems.

    Birthday: September 27

Enrique: He's a new character coming to the third season of the program in February 2005. Enrique is raised by his Dad and Grandma and he's recently moved to the area where Max and Emmy live, all the way from Colombia. They meet and show him Dragon Land. At first, he's a bit scared, especially because he finds it hard to connect with people, having moved many times. But soon he's having great adventures in Dragon Land, just like Max and Emmy! Since Zak and Wheezie were left, he rides with them, and they're delighted at the opportunity to have someone to ride with them, since they usually flew only with each other in the past.

Dragon Tales airs weekdays on most PBS stations and also in some foreign markets.

    Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

    Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

    PBS (ended 2001)
"In a little toy neighborhood, a tiny trolley rolls past a house at the end of a street. Welcome toMister Rogers' Neighborhood." In the annals of children's TV, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood ranks among the longest-lasting and beloved shows. Upon its conclusion, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was the longest-running series in PBS history (a record eclipsed by Sesame Street in 2003). Host Fred Rogers (known to millions as simply "Mister Rogers") used his gentle charm and mannerisms to communicate with his audience of children. Topics centered on nearly every inconceivable matter of concern to children, ranging from everyday fears related to going to sleep, getting immunizations and disappointment about not getting one's way to losing a loved one to death and physical handicaps. Rogers used simple songs and, on nearly every show, segments from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe (NOM) to make his point. A scale-model trolley was often (but not always) used to segue into the Make-Believe segments, said neighborhood being inhabited by puppet characters including King Friday XIII, Lady Elaine Fairchild and Daniel Striped Tiger. Many shows also featured visits from cast members – most often Mr. McFeely (tagline: "Speedy Delivery"), Robert Trow, Joe Negri and Chef Brockett (the local baker). Many times, Rogers also visited the neighborhood shops of both the regulars and guests. Each show began and ended with a camera panning over a scale neighborhood (said to represent the town where Rogers lived). Production History While today's longer-running PBS Kids shows reinvent themselves every five years, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood achieved, throughout its 31 seasons, that rarest of elements: consistency. It is a legacy that can all be traced through every aspect of Fred Rogers' television career. Some of the characters in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, both real and imagined, had appeared in two of Fred Rogers' earlier programs, The Children's Corner for Pittsburgh's WQED in 1954 and the CBC's Misterogers in 1963. It was for Misterogers that Fred first appeared on-camera. Rogers returned to WQED in Pittsburgh to begin writing and hosting Mister Rogers' Neighborhood May 22, 1967. Several other public television stations from Chicago to Boston carried the show on a trial basis that year. Beginning February 19, 1968, the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood program that we know today, began airing nationwide on National Educational Television (NET), the predecessor to PBS. This was also the year David Newell, returned from Europe, began work for Rogers. He was in charge of the production as well as the neighborhood's Speedy Delivery service. (AN ASIDE: Rogers wanted to call the delivery man Mr. McCurdy after the man at the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, whose support launched Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. But the people at Sears-Roebuck called Rogers and said "Mr. McCurdy" was too self-serving. Thus Rogers went to his roots to rename Newell's deliveryman. "McFeely" was Rogers' middle name and the last name of his maternal grandfather.) Shows were produced as a daily strip from 1968 to 1976, at which time production was suspended. Counting black-and-white episodes, 590 shows were produced in that span. Production resumed at the beginning of the remote video age in 1979. Rogers went on location more, supervising videos of how people make things (a precursor to the TVO series Here's How!). Other characters would be introduced in the subsequent two decades. In all, 305 new programs were taped from 1979 through 2001. Of that volume, the most notable shows came in 1991, with Rogers focusing on calming children's fears during the first U.S. war with Iraq. PBS gradually narrowed the window for the 460 "pre-79" episodes with each new season from 1980 onward. When the number of "post-75" episodes was enough to cover entire years, the classic shows were retired, last airing on PBS in the summer of 1995. Despite the production stoppage and the subsequent passing of Fred Rogers on February 27, 2003, PBS continues to repeat Mister Roger's Neighborhood in all its original glory–an accomplishment unique among all PBS Kids shows.moreless
