Astonishing X-Men is a motion comic series developed from Marvel Comics's Astonishing X-Men story arc, "Gifted", written by Joss Whedon and drawn by John Cassaday, which follows the reintroduction of the home team of the X-Men, comprised now of Cyclops, the White Queen, Beast, Wolverine, and Shadowcat. Shadowcat doesn't meet eye-to-eye with the White Queen, especially since their bad blood stems from the time the telepathic diamond Queen tried to kill Shadowcat and her friends. They work begrudgingly work together when the announcement of the creation of a "mutant cure" hits the news. The cure, developed by an alien overlord, Ord, with the experimentation on a resurrected and drugged metallic formed Colossus, holds the threat to decimate the mutant population. Colossus, otherwise known as Piotr Rasputin, had died in a sacrifice to release an airborne cure of a mutant-focused virus. The still at-odds X-Men set out to free Colossus and to find out just why Ord would travel all that way from his home planet, the Breakworld, to destroy mutants. Astonishing X-Men was adapted by Marvel Comics new graphic way of storytelling, holding onto the panel-by-panel style but with moving graphics, sounds, and explosive dynamics. Whedon and Cassaday's run on Astonishing X-Men was awarded an Eisner award for its definitely astounding treatment of one of the best X-Men runs in a decade.moreless

Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is a classic early 1960s cartoon comedy show produced by Jay Ward Productions. The show ran for 5 years and aired on both the ABC and NBC television network. The show's two main characters are Rocky J. Squirrel, a brave flying squirrel and his best pal, Bullwinkle, a dumb and clumsy moose living in the town of Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. The series usually involves their misadventures involving enemies Boris and Natasha, the dastardly Russian spy duo bent on ending the noble antics of "moose and squirrel" and thereby gaining power over the fictional nation of Pottsylvania. Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends also featured short bookend stories- most notably Dudley Do-Right, the clueless Canadian Mountie always saving damsels from the villainous Snidely Whiplash, and another bookend involving Sherman and Peabody, a boy and dog brainiac who travel through time to discover the real story behind historical events and right the wrongs to make sure the events actually happen. Fun, vintage and famous for using groan-worthy puns, Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is great for kids and kids at heart.moreless

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo is the 1979 update of the classic Scooby-Doo character. This was the fourth Scooby-Doo cartoon to date and introduced the world to Scrappy-Doo, Scooby's puppy nephew. Despite being related, Scrappy-Doo was not much like his uncle, Scooby. Situations that would normally cause Scooby-Doo to react in frozen terror would result in Scrappy-Doo putting up his paws and shouting "Lemme at 'em! I'll splat 'em!". Due to his small size and hot temper, Scrappy-Doo would often be in physical danger, forcing Scooby-Doo and Shaggy to reluctantly save him. Scooby, Scrappy, and the rest of Mystery, Inc. were still out solving mysteries. In this series they encounter some truly out-of-this-world characters including the UFO Weirdo, Aztec Acapulco Sea Creature, Sky Skeleton, Devil Bear, and Snake Demon of Haiti. Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo ran for one exciting season in 1979 and had Scooby-Doo fans young and old talking about "Puppy Power!"moreless
