    The Young and the Restless

    The Young and the Restless

    CBS
The Young and the Restless revolves around the rivalries, romances, hopes and fears of the residents of the fictional Midwestern metropolis, Genoa City. The lives and loves of a wide variety of characters mingle through the generations, dominated by the Newman, Abbott and Winters families. When the show premiered in 1973, it revolutionized the daytime drama. It continues to set the standard with strong characters, socially conscious storylines, romance and sensuality. The Young and the Restless premiered on March 26, 1973, and was originally a 30 minute show. It was not until January 1980 that the show had become a one hour show like it is today. The show has ran for years at 12:30 PM on the east coast, and at 11:00 AM on the west coast. Over the years, many things have happened, and there have been many twisted story lines, many stolen husbands, and many people dead. It has also featured character cross-overs with another CBS soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. These include the psychotic Sheila Carter, who began on The Young and the Restless and shown her more psychotic side on The Bold and the Beautiful. The same goes for Lauren Fenmore, who also can be seen on The Bold and the Beautiful occasionally. The Young and the Restless is not like other soaps which convey a surreal way of life. This show, however, is based on the lives of people in a small town called Genoa City, Wisconsin, where the money is plentiful and so are the women. Many times, we wish that we could live in that small, mid-western town, just to see how life would really be like. Sometimes, we put our own problems aside and worry about what will happen next on the show. However, we're very fortunate not to have a world like they do on any soap! The theme song was written by Barry DeVorzon and Perry Botkin, and originally entitled Cotton's Theme from the film Bless the Beasts, but later became known as Nadia's Theme.moreless

    CSI: Miami

    CSI: Miami

    CBS (ended 2012)
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation took television by storm in 2000 with its innovative and cutting-edge updating of a standard series concept – in this case, the cop show. Suddenly, instead of simply whodunit, solving crimes was a matter of howdunit, and with what size shoe, and whether anyone left behind traces of evidence that the blue ALS light could pick up. Now that gritty approach to crime known as forensic science makes its way from Las Vegas to the streets of Florida in CSI: Miami. A whole new team of crime scene investigators is on hand to probe the seamy underside of what some refer to as Cuba North and others call Georgia South. Consider it a tropical blend of people, culture, nightlife and, of course, the occasional killing or two. Just as you do in Vegas, come for the crime, stick around for the clues. And there's always a clue. The Team Horatio Caine is the lead criminologist, sort of the Grissom of the spin-off. But he's got a dangerous edge and a "blind allegiance to justice." Tim Speedle was a young, well-educated criminalist who did his job in honor of his high school friend, who died two years after he was paralyzed in a snowmobile accident. He died on duty when he was shot in a jewelry store while investigating a murder. Eric Delko is a funny and lovable character, now working as a CSI, specializing in underwater recovery. Alexx Woods is a young coroner. Alexx has the education that has earned her the nickname "knowologist," and she often challenges the other CSIs. She is known to talk to the victims. Calleigh Duquesne is the team's ballistics expert, sometimes known as the "bullet girl." Ryan Wolfe is the newest member of the team. He is young and often thinks outside the box to help solve cases.moreless

    SpongeBob SquarePants

    SpongeBob SquarePants

    Nickelodeon
SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the highest-rated children's cartoon shows of the era and of all time. It follows a naive and eternally optimistic sea-sponge named SpongeBob SquarePants and his endeavors in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom. Many supporting and equally popular characters tag along with SpongeBob, including a starfish, a squid, a crab, and even a squirrel who lives underwater. The show first aired on May 1st, 1999, and quickly took off with children. The show is just as popular now as it ever was! Cast of Characters SpongeBob SquarePants - SpongeBob is the main character of the series and, as stated before, is somewhat dim-witted, sometimes to the point of driving his brighter friends up the wall. Despite this shortcoming, SpongeBob is a selfless creature. SpongeBob is a well-known fry cook at the Krusty Krab, Bikini Bottom's premier daytime eatery, and for good reason. No one denies that SpongeBob makes a delicious Krabby Patty, the burger of choice at the restaurant. SpongeBob lives in his pineapple home with his pet snail Gary. Patrick Star - Patrick is SpongeBob's best friend and is not the brightest fish in the sea - he lives under a rock, after all. Usually, SpongeBob and Patrick come up with a clueless idea that they think will be fun, but they usually end up in a lot of trouble for it. Because of his personality and dim-witted antics, Patrick is one of the most popular characters in the series. Squidward Tentacles - Squidward is a snobbish squid who lives in a moai between the houses of the two people he hates the most - SpongeBob and Patrick. He is constantly unhappy, mainly because of their antics. They have somehow been misinformed that Squidward is their friend, so Squidward is always badgered by them both. Squidward also dislikes his job at the Krusty Krab with SpongeBob. The only things that keep Squidward going are his tiki-shaped home and playing his clarinet. Sandy Cheeks - Sandy is a cowgirl from Texas. She is quite powerful and agile, so make sure you don't set her off! She is a very nice person though, and isn't all muscle. In fact, her love of science is what allows her to live underwater. She lives in a tree growing inside a large dome that keeps air in. If she leaves her air bubble, she'll wear a suit that lets her breathe. Mr. Eugene H. Krabs - Mr. Krabs is the owner of the Krusty Krab and is notable for his large cheapskate side. Mr. Krabs is completely in love with his money and lets nothing stand between him and it. He also has a daughter, Pearl the whale, though it is never explained how Pearl is a whale and Mr. Krabs is a crab. Gary the Snail - Gary is SpongeBob's pet snail and is the equivalent of an underwater cat. Although most of his sounds are cat-like mews, SpongeBob can understand exactly what Gary is saying, and Gary understands SpongeBob as well, probably better than SpongeBob understands himself. Sheldon J. Plankton - Plankton is Mr. Krab's arch rival and the not-so-proud owner of the Chum Bucket, the restaurant across the street from the Krusty Krab. Plankton has tried to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula from his rival Mr. Krabs on numerous occasions but has never succeeded. His wife Karen is a computer he built himself. Larry the Lobster - Larry is a macho lifeguard at the Bikini Bottom beach, Goo-Lagoon. He is constantly working out and is often the voice of reason when Spongebob tries something particularly dim-witted at the beach. Mrs. Poppy Puff - Mrs. Puff is the local driving school teacher in Bikini Bottom. She is a good teacher, but just cannot pass one student: SpongeBob SquarePants. SpongeBob has failed her class many times and has gotten on Mrs. Puff's nerves so much that she now has a severe hatred for him and has actually been driven slightly insane by him. Squilliam Fancyson - Squilliam is Squidward's rich and snobbish rival. He boasts about his money and is everything Squidward wants to be. He and Squidward's neighbors are the main reasons for Squidward's bitterness. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy - These two are a retired duo of superheroes that have their own television show. Mermaid Man is portrayed as a senile character, and Barnacle Boy, who is 68 years old, is constantly annoyed by him. Man Ray and the Dirty Bubble - These are a pair of dastardly villains in Bikini Bottom. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy are too old to fight them alone and usually need the help of SpongeBob and his friends to get the job done. The Dirty Bubble is literally a bubble and can be popped by pointy objects. Man Ray wears a mask and has no real face behind it. He has been known to have a bit of a soft side. The Flying Dutchman - The Flying Dutchman lives in his flying pirate ship and haunts Bikini Bottom. His hobby and main reason for existing is simply to scare the citizens of Bikini Bottom. Theme Song Captain: Are ya ready kids? Kids: Aye, aye, captain! Captain: I can't hear you! Kids: AYE, AYE, CAPTAIN! Captain: Ohhh..... who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants! Captain: Absorbent and yellow and porous is he! Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants! Captain: If nautical nonsense be something you wish,Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants! Gilmore Girls

    The WB (ended 2007)
Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated with an eclectic mix of everyday folks and lovable lunatics, Gilmore Girls is a humorous multigenerational series about friendship, family and the ties that bind. Thirtysomething Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) has made her share of mistakes in life, but she has been doing her best to see that her college-bound daughter - and best friend in the world - Rory (Alexis Bledel), doesn't follow in her footsteps. That may be easier said than done, considering that the two share the same interests, the same intellect, the same coffee addiction and the same eyes. Rory is more serious than Lorelai, but there are tendencies, especially in the love department, that clearly indicate she is her mother's daughter. From the beginning, this unique mother-daughter team has been growing up together. Lorelai was just Rory's age when she became pregnant and made the tough decision to raise her baby alone.

Gilmore Girls was the first series to make it to air supported by the Family Friendly Forum's script development fund. An initiative between some of the nation's top advertisers and The WB, the program is intended to offer a greater array of compelling family programming on network television. The strong and loving mother-daughter relationship portrayed in Gilmore Girls reflects the growing reality of this new type of American family.moreless
