The United Earth Sphere Alliance, who had abolished all the nations of the world and had taken control of the planet is now threatening to extend that control over the independent space colonies. Within the Alliance, a special group known as the Organization of the Zodiac(OZ) which is responsible for the Alliance's actions, aims to take center stage. Unwilling to yield to the Alliance, the colonies send 5 young men in Mobile Suits known as Gundams to destroy OZ and preserve the colonies' independence. Gundam Wing is an anime created in 1995 (formally known as 'New Mobile Report Gundam Wing'). Its parent series, Mobile Suit Gundam (AU), had premiered in 1979, marking the beginning of a successful Gundam Era. Two years after the release of forty-nine episodes, Gundam Wing was a venture to attract a new generation of cartoon-watchers. The show's initial airing in the United States is accredited to Cartoon Network's Toonami schedule block. "Generations ago, with a great dream for the future... humankind departed from planet Earth, seeking a life on space colonies. But as time went by, the United Earth Sphere Alliance brought the colonies under its control... one after another using its overwhelming military power in the name of peace and justice. CBS (ended 2000)
Now and Again premiered on CBS television in September 1999 and focused on what would happen if a dead man's brain were removed and placed in a body with superhuman strength and mental powers. Michael Wiseman, now Michael Newman, was drafted to assist a government scientist on a variety of projects. Michael's refusal to give up his family from his "past life," however, proved more difficult to contend with than any in the government could ever have guessed.

Build a man with the speed of Michael Jordan, the strength of Superman and the grace of Fred Astaire. A guy who's going to look good, be young, be omnipotent. Wild, huh?

The Six Million Dollar Man for the new millennium maybe? It could have been. It featured a unique concept and a strong cast, many of which now appear in various popular series. but a massive audience never really caught on for the program. Though the program had a strong cult following and many efforts were made to revive it and have it released on DVD. As of 2006, however, no DVD set is available.

All said and done, this was a series that likely should have done better than it did. It was funny, with great action scenes and compelling emotional plots. It also featured a strong cliffhanger ending, one which there will likely never be a resolution to.

Where Have They Been and Where Are They Now?

Now and Again featured a strong cast that now appear in many hit television series.

Eric Close - Michael New/Wiseman - Close can now be seen as Agent Martin Fitzgerald in another CBS program, the hit procedural drama Without a Trace.

Dennis Haysbert - Dr. Theodore Morris - Haysbert enjoyed great success as President David Palmer on FOX's 24. He also appeared in a series of commercials for All State Insurance and now stars as Jonas Blane on CBS's The Unit.

Gerrit Graham - Roger Bender - Graham appeared as Q/Quinn in Star Trek: Voyager. After being largely inactive in television for a few years, he returned with a guest stint on Law and Order. He also recently performed the character Mr. John Willoughby in the film Stick it in Detroit.

Margaret Colin - Lisa Wiseman - Colin's most recent television work was a guest stint on Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Heather Matarazzo - Heather Wiseman - Now starring on the series The Rules: A Lesbian Survival Guide. Also appeared as Lilly Moscovitz in both Princess Diaries films.

Many of the show staff have also moved on to other popular projects. For example, creator Glenn Gordon Caron went on to create the hit NBC drama Medium.moreless

When things really get screwed up, I'm the guinea pig they send back to take care of it. The catch is, I can only go back 7 days. 7 Days chronicles the adventures of Frank Parker, a "chrononaut" assigned to the U.S. government's "Operation Backstep." The operation revolves around the Sphere, created by Dr.'s Mentnor, Vukavitch, and Ballard from alien technology salvaged from Roswell. The alien power source allows a jump of only seven days, so when a crisis occurs the government assigns NSA agent Frank Parker to jump back in time up to 7 days to prevent it, creating a new timeline where only Frank remembers the old one. Frank is uniquely qualified for the job - he has a high tolerance for pain (required during piloting), a photographic memory, and has had some psychiatric problems that give him a very...flexible mindset when dealing with altered timelines. Assisting him on his missions are project head Bradley Talmadge, head of security Nathan Ramsey, and military advisor and back-up chrononaut Craig Donovan. They are: Laura Daughtery (Lake Bell, "Boston Legal"), the young oceanographer who discovers the secret; Dr. Aleksander Cirko (Rade Sherbedgia, "Snatch"), the government scientist who tries to keep things under wraps; Rich Connelly (Jay R. Ferguson, "Judging Amy"), the Louisiana insurance salesman who loses his brother in a suspicious diving accident; and Miles Barnett (Carter Jenkins, "CSI: New York"), the young boy who brings one of the creatures ashore. The mystery ensnares a spectrum of people, including naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in North Carolina, scientists from the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey, and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The seemingly innocent creatures they find are beautiful, and kids may even want to play with them -- but is there something more to them? One thing's for sure – they're full of surprises as viewers embark on this journey to discover what might be lurking in the sea. "'Surface' is entertainment for all ages in the tradition of 'E.T.' and 'Close Encounters,'" said Josh and Jonas Pate, the series' creators and executive producers. "It will have action, suspense, thrills and heart as we track the fantastic into the familiar." The Pates continued: "We'll follow the teenager as he raises the sea monster in a suburban garage. We'll admire the young dedicated oceanographer as she takes unbelievable risks to get to the bottom of the mystery. We'll feel the grief and obsession of the every-man from Louisiana, and answer the questions surrounding the mysterious Dr. Cirko. This series will plumb the depths of suspense." Waking up, he finds himself apparently in 1973. Is he mad, in a coma, or has he travelled back in time? Initially struggling to come to terms with his situation, Sam Tyler has to come to terms with the old-fashioned technology and attitudes of the day, convinced that, if he can find out how he came to be trapped in the past, he can find the way home. The actor John Simm described the show as "a cross between Back to the Future and The Sweeney". It makes effective use of the disorientation of the unwitting time-traveller while taking a post-modern romp through 1970s fashions and technologies, with due tribute paid to the classic police dramas of the day, to fashion a truly unique programme. In 2065, former astronaut and millionaire Jeff Tracy forms an secret organization named International Rescue. Its mission is to intervene when human life is at threat and nobody else is able to help. They're based on a small tropical island in the Pacific. While it appears to all the world as a reclusive millionaire's retreat, complete with luxurious hillside house (appropriately in the International Style of architecture) and swimming pool, hidden beneath the house and inside a cliff face are various facilities for the enormous complex where their equipment is built, maintained and stored. The equipment, including the specialized Thunderbird vehicles, is designed and assembled by Brains, a brilliant engineer fiercely loyal to Jeff. Supporting the team is Lady Penelope, a famous society figure who secretly acts as their London operative, assisted by her butler, Parker. The five Thunderbird craft are piloted by each of Jeff's five sons, all named after members of America's Mercury program: - Thunderbird 1, piloted by Scott, named after Scott Carpenter. This ramjet-powered plane is their fastest aircraft, always first on the scene to assess the situation and coordinate the rescue. - Thunderbird 2, piloted by Virgil (after Virgil "Gus" Grissom." A fan favorite, Thunderbird 2 is the heavy lift air transport, responsible for carrying all manner of large and bulky machinery to rescue sites. - Thunderbird 3 is piloted by Alan (after Alan Shepard) or John (after John Glenn,) depending on who is on station in Thunderbird 5. 3 is the spaceship for International Rescue. - Thunderbird 4, piloted by Gordon (after Gordon Cooper), is a mini-submarine usually carried to sites inside Thunderbird 2. - Thunderbird 5 is manned by John and Alan on rotating monthly shifts. It's an orbital space platform where all communications around the world can be monitored and issues alerts to Jeff whenever trouble arises. International Rescue insists on complete secrecy. Their identities aren't known to anyone outside the organization and photography of their equipment is forbidden. Thunderbirds was produced by Gerry Anderson and was the culmination of his Supermarionation process, which used marionette puppets instead of live actors. Originally intended for children, the show still has a devoted fanbase of adult viewers, both in the United Kingdom where it originated and in the United States, where it was syndicated in the 1960s and 70s. The series spawned three theatrical features. Thunderbirds Are Go! and Thunderbird Six were produced soon after the series left the air, although neither met with box office success. In 2004, a live action feature of the same name was made without Anderson's involvement. It drew scathing comments from professional movie reviewers who compared it unfavorably to the original show.moreless
