In the year 2307 A.D, all the Earth's fossil fuels have been depleted entirely. Mankind has therefore turned to the next available source of power: solar energy. The world has been split into 3 groups: The Human Reform League (Russia, China and India), The Advanced European Union (AEU), and the Free Nations Union (formerly the United States). Each of these groups has built an orbital elevator with a solar power generation system. Unfortunately, not all countries are able to properly use the benefits of this system. This has led to widespread resentment and consequently, war. During this conflict, a mysterious, private army emerges, calling itself Celestial Being. This military organization has declared that it is dedicated to end all warfare in the world by using special Mobile Suits called Gundam. The 4 Gundam Meisters (pilots) are Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde. These are the stories of their conflicts. Headmasters starts with Galvatron leading a new batch of Destrons to wage war on Seibertron, the Destron Headmasters. The Cybertrons are rescued by the arrival of the Cybertron Headmasters, led by Fortress (Cerebros, the head of Fortress Maximus). It is revealed that Fortress left Seibertron millions of years ago in search of energy, and have finally managed to come home. He explains that the Headmasters are from a planet called Master; the human-heighted robots who live there built themselves Transformers-heighted bodies. They can then transform themselves into the heads of the robots, and have now joined the Cybertron-Destron war.

Opening Song: "The Headmasters" by Hironobu Kageyama Ending Song: "You are a Transformer" by Hironobu Kageyama

Transformers: The Headmasters was the first Japanese Transformers series and picked up after the 3rd season of the original cartoon, taking place in 2011. However, the producers disregarded the story told in the 3-part "Rebirth" from the original series and retold the origin of the Headmasters from scratch.

Although considered the weakest of all the Japanese shows, Headmasters paved the way for other Japanese Transformer shows like Super God Masterforce and Victory.moreless

    (ended 1988)
Robotech is the critically acclaimed animated series about mankind's first contact with warring alien races, and the use of alien technology to defend Earth. The series was broken into three chapters, The Macross Saga, The Robotech Masters, and The New Generation. Released in 1985, Robotech was the first anime (Japanese animation) series that many fans had seen, and is often accredited as the cause of the anime fandom that continues to grow today in the United States. COMMON TERMS Robotechnology Refers to technological systems that operate using protoculture. Veritech Refers to a series of personal war-machines that can change their configuration between at least two modes. Destroid Refers to a series of personal war-machines similar to Veritechs, but are limited to one configuration (usually somewhat humanoid). Mecha Refers to the generic term for any personal war-machine used. Battloid Refers to the generic term form any mecha with/in a "humanoid" form. Zor's Battlefortress Also known as the SDF-1. The Tiresian scientist Zor (angry over what the Robotech Masters had done to the Invid), destroyed all of the Tiresian data and production facilities for the creation of protoculture; except for the last remaining protoculture production matrix that he hid aboard the SDF-1. He was critically injured in an Invid attack. His final attack was to have the SDF-1 abandoned and set on a course that would eventually take it to Earth. Flower of Life Refers to a plant that was native to the Invid homeworld before it was defoliated by the Zentraedi acting on orders from the Robotech Masters. The plant is as essential to the survival of the Invid as flowers are essential to the survival of bees. The Invid use it for both survival and evolutionary purposes. Protoculture Refers to a substance derived from the the flower of life. It is used as the main source of power for the majority of the technology scene in the series. Alien Races Tiresian The Tiresian scientist Zor was given the secrets of creating protoculture during a first contact mission with the Invid ruler - the Regis. From their homeworld of Tirol, the Tiresians built an entire empire based on protoculture and robotechnology. At some point the Tiresian rulers (the Robotech Masters) decided that they should have exclusive control over protoculture, and ordered the Zentraedi to defoliate the Invid homeworld of Optera. Zentraedi The Zentraedi race was created by the Tiresian scientist Zor through genetic engineering using protoculture and robotechnology. Through the use of protoculture sizing chambers they can alter their forms from human size to that of giants averaging 40-50 feet in height. They act as the "enforcers" of the Robotech Masters, performing peacekeeping/war-making missions when called upon. Invid The only non-humanoid race in the original Robotech series. The "natural" form of the Invid resembles that of a 4-foot slug with limbs. The Invid can use protoculture to change their form to whatever shape they deem necessary. Where humans might "terraform" a planet to suit their needs; the Invid would "bioform" themselves to suit their environment. Their society is similar to that of social insects, with a queen (the Regis) leading them. An Invid cannot survive outside of their mecha, unless they have been "bioformed" to survive in the surrounding environment. They were peaceful, trusting creatures until their homeworld was defoliated by the Zentraedi. The Invid have been hostile toward all life that is not Invid since that day. Cyborg 009 is the story of a half-Japanese juvenile delinquent named Joe Shimamura, or Cyborg 009. Black Ghost, a top-secret organization bent on promoting global warfare, kidnaps Joe along with eight other unwanted members of society from the four corners of the globe and turns them into Cyborgs. Though the organization intends to turn the group into super-powered killing machines, it's not long before Joe and his new companions rebel against Black Ghost and make their escape with the help of an old scientist, Dr. Isaac Gilmore.

Once Joe and friends have freed themselves, Black Ghost sends a series of other Cyborgs and giant robots in hot pursuit. Using their new powers and abilities, our heroes stay one step ahead of Black Ghost and its evil machinations, but can they save the world from its diabolical scheme?!

Cyborg 009 was the creation of manga-ka (Japanese comic artist) Shotaro Ishinomori. In 1971, Ishinomori-sensei reworked the Cyborg 009 concept into his more popular creation, Masked Rider, or Kamen Rider, which told the story of a young scientist/motorcyclist named Takeshi Hongo who fights the evil organization Shocker, which transformed him into a grasshopper-like Cyborg for their evil deeds

This is the third Cyborg 009 anime series made. The first was made in 1966, and the second in 1979, the latter almost identical to the newer series made in 2001. There were also two animated films in 1966 and 1967, Cyborg 009 and Cyborg 009: Monster War, and another for the '79 series in 1980 titled Cyborg 009: Legend of the Super Galaxy .

This guide covers the English dub version ONLY. In Japan, in 2001, it was named Cyborg 009 The Cyborg Soldier, or Cyborg Soldier 009, to avoid confusion with the two previous series. In it's US run in 2003 on Cartoon Network, the anime was simply titled Cyborg 009. Go here for the Japanese version guide.moreless
