    The Bionic Woman Classic

    ABC (ended 1978)

After a tragic skydiving accident, Jaime also received bionic replacements. She and Steve planned to be married, but it came to pass that Jaime's body rejected her new limbs and she died.

ABC realized how phenomenally successful Lindsay Wagner's portrayal of Jaime Sommers had become. So, they brought her back to life and spun her off into her own series. It debuted in January 1976 and was an immediate hit. The series ran on ABC for two seasons and was picked up by NBC for its final season. In Spanish the title is known La mujer biónica, though in in regions speaking the Catalan dialect, it is called La dona bionica. In Italy it is called La donna bionica. Surface

    Surface

    NBC (ended 2006)
Ever wonder what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the earth? "Surface" is an expansive drama and undersea adventure that centers on the appearance of mysterious sea creatures in the deep ocean -- and tracks the lives of four characters. They are: Laura Daughtery (Lake Bell, "Boston Legal"), the young oceanographer who discovers the secret; Dr. Aleksander Cirko (Rade Sherbedgia, "Snatch"), the government scientist who tries to keep things under wraps; Rich Connelly (Jay R. Ferguson, "Judging Amy"), the Louisiana insurance salesman who loses his brother in a suspicious diving accident; and Miles Barnett (Carter Jenkins, "CSI: New York"), the young boy who brings one of the creatures ashore. The mystery ensnares a spectrum of people, including naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in North Carolina, scientists from the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey, and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The seemingly innocent creatures they find are beautiful, and kids may even want to play with them -- but is there something more to them? One thing's for sure – they're full of surprises as viewers embark on this journey to discover what might be lurking in the sea. "'Surface' is entertainment for all ages in the tradition of 'E.T.' and 'Close Encounters,'" said Josh and Jonas Pate, the series' creators and executive producers. "It will have action, suspense, thrills and heart as we track the fantastic into the familiar." The Pates continued: "We'll follow the teenager as he raises the sea monster in a suburban garage. We'll admire the young dedicated oceanographer as she takes unbelievable risks to get to the bottom of the mystery. We'll feel the grief and obsession of the every-man from Louisiana, and answer the questions surrounding the mysterious Dr. Cirko. This series will plumb the depths of suspense." "Something is down there." "Surface" is from NBC Universal Television Studio and was created by Josh and Jonas Pate ("Dragnet"), who also serve as executive producers. NOTE: The original title of the series was Fathom but was changed after it came to light that the rights to the name were owned by another company.moreless

    Life on Mars (UK)

    Life on Mars (UK)

    BBC (ended 2007)
Welcome to the Life on Mars guide at TV.com. A detective chief inspector from 2006 is investigating a serial killer when he is knocked over by a speeding car. Waking up, he finds himself apparently in 1973. Is he mad, in a coma, or has he travelled back in time? Initially struggling to come to terms with his situation, Sam Tyler has to come to terms with the old-fashioned technology and attitudes of the day, convinced that, if he can find out how he came to be trapped in the past, he can find the way home. The actor John Simm described the show as "a cross between Back to the Future and The Sweeney". It makes effective use of the disorientation of the unwitting time-traveller while taking a post-modern romp through 1970s fashions and technologies, with due tribute paid to the classic police dramas of the day, to fashion a truly unique programme. A sequel series, Ashes to Ashes, followed in 2008.moreless

    Ashes to Ashes

    BBC (ended 2010)
Welcome to the Ashes to Ashes guide at TV.com. DI Alex Drake of the Metropolitan Police is taken hostage and shot, and wakes to find herself apparently thrown back in time to 1981. She quickly recognises DCI Gene Hunt and his team from detailed reports made by DCI Sam Tyler about his own trip to 1973. Initially sceptical about the surreal nature of her new environment, Alex, a modern, no-nonsense woman, clashed regularly with her sexist colleagues but had to learn to adjust while she strove to find her way back to 2008. As time passed, Alex started to accept her situation, and wonder whether her life in the future had been the dream. Executive Producer Jane Featherstone described this spin-off from Life on Mars as "a touch of Moonlighting teamed with a measure of Miami Vice." The show aimed to build on the success of its award-winning predecessor, resurrecting Philip Glenister's ever-popular detective while taking the opportunity to wink at 1980s fashions and attitudes. Ashes to Ashes is a Kudos production in association with Monastic Productions for the BBC.moreless

    7 Days

    UPN (ended 2001)
Ever wish you could live your last week all over again? Well, my name's Frank B. Parker, and I do it all the time. I work for a secret government project experimenting in time travel. When things really get screwed up, I'm the guinea pig they send back to take care of it. The catch is, I can only go back 7 days. 7 Days chronicles the adventures of Frank Parker, a "chrononaut" assigned to the U.S. government's "Operation Back Step." The operation revolves around the Sphere, created by Dr.'s Mentnor, Vukavitch, and Ballard from alien technology salvaged from Roswell. The alien power source allows a jump of only seven days, so when a crisis occurs the government assigns NSA agent Frank Parker to jump back in time up to 7 days to prevent it, creating a new timeline where only Frank remembers the old one. Frank is uniquely qualified for the job - he has a high tolerance for pain (required during piloting), a photographic memory, and has had some psychiatric problems that give him a very...flexible mindset when dealing with altered timelines. Assisting him on his missions are project head Bradley Talmadge, head of security Nathan Ramsey, and military advisor and back-up chrononaut Craig Donovan. In the third season Ballard retires and his replacement "Hooter" Owsley takes his place as scientific expert and recurring guest star.moreless

    Tripping the Rift

    Tripping the Rift

    Syfy
Tripping the Rift is SciFi Channel's new comedy. Using CGI-animation and grotesque adult humour, Tripping the Rift is something new and exciting for the whole family. Providing that family is old enough to at least buy beer. Characters: Chode: The purple, yet frighteningly Kirkish, captain of the Jupiter 42. Has serious sexual issues. Has a penchant for petty theft, cheating and pornography. A true blue professional captain. Also part owner and captain of said vessel. Darph Bobo: The manic, stupid and utterly hateful Vader-spoof. Has the same homicidal tendencies as his Sith alter-ego, albeit more random in his delivery of punishment. Chode's arch-nemesis. Gus: Gus functions s both the ship's engineer and Chode's personal whipping boy. He has somewhat queer manners, which the other characters seem to find offensive. Bigots, all of them. Six: Six of One was liberated from the Federation by Chode. Somehow the debt held by Six has turned towards "love" for Chode. Six is not wholly disgusted with Chode's disgusting habits. Love has flourished on worse foundations... Has received programming beyond just being a love slave, and is the Jupiter 42's scientific officer. T'nuk: The ugly feminist. Wow. That was redundant. Actually she is not the perfect feminist, as she has an overactive libido and loves the rooster (What's another word for rooster?). Not a positive thing in a four-legged alien. Also the co-owner of the Jupiter 42 and thus the prime rival of Chode. Whip: Chode's dumb nephew. Half-witted is too positive, as Whip is a hormonally disturbed teen. Welcome to puberty and space. Bob: The ship's onboard computer. Neurotic. Not exactly good for anything except for whining. Oh. And drinking. Do not travel in space with a neurotic drunkard as your navigator/AI. Bad idea.moreless

    Small Wonder

    Small Wonder

    (ended 1989)
Small Wonder was a sci-fi sitcom about a family who has a robot daughter. Ted Lawson, an engineer at a huge robotics firm, brings home a project that he is working on: a robot in the shape of a 10-year-old girl. The robot was a Voice Input Child Indenticant (V.I.C.I.), but was nicknamed Vicki for short. Not only did she brighten up Ted's wife Joan, but also was a great sister to their only child Jamie Lawson. They tried to keep the fact that Vicki was a robot from the entire world, but found it difficult when their neighbors, The Brindles, started snooping around the house. What the bad part was, Brandon Brindle, the head of the Brindle family, was Ted's boss and he does his best to lie, cheat, and steal to get him further up the corporate ladder. His wife, Bonnie, was no better than he was, and his bratty daughter Harriet had a killer crush on Jamie. Jamie, however, would rather play with Reggie, his best friend and confidant than to have Harriet chase him everywhere. Jamie also tried to teach Vicki how to be a normal kid, but all she could do is mimic people and do things literally. Vicki also had an evil side to her named Vanessa, who was smart-mouthed, conniving and treacherous at times. But other than that, the Lawsons enjoyed four years of living with a robot and no one outside the family was ever the wiser, not even the ever-nosy Brindles. Small Wonder ran in syndication from 1985 to 1989 and was a ratings hit. There were talks of doing a spin-off series dedicated to Vanessa named Too Good to Be True but it died in the planning stages. Theme Song: She's a small wonder Pretty and bright with soft curls She's a small wonder A girl unlike other girls She's a miracle, and I grant you, she'll enchant you at first sight She's a small wonder And she'll make your heart take flight She's fantastic, made of plastic Microchips here and there She's a small wonder, Brings love and laughter everywhere!moreless
