    (ended 1986)
Inspector Gadget was a cartoon parody of the 1960's television spy parody, Get Smart. Don Adams played the leads in both shows. There are similarities between the two shows. Both agents only had lots of gadgets or devices that they never could use correctly. Both worked for a chief that they invariably infuriated. And of course, both Gadget and Smart were lovable idiots who always won in the end, usually by accident or by someone else's help. Created by DIC Entertainment, this show was voiced in Canada and Los Angeles, drawn in Korea, edited in Los Angeles and distributed by DIC International. First produced as a 1/2 hour pilot in 1983, it was picked up and produced until 1986 for TV. Years later, Inspector Gadget is seen in 55 countries in 24 languages. Spinoffs: Gadget Boy and Heather, Gadget Boy's Adventures in History, Inspector Gadget's Field Trip and Gadget and the Gadgetinis. A liveaction theatrical movie based on the cartoon was released in 1999, as well as a liveaction direct-to-video sequel in 2003.moreless

Kolchak was originally two made-for-TV movies that aired in the early 70s, and featured the adventures of Carl Kolchak, a down-on-the heels reporter who ran afoul of a vampire in Las Vegas and an alchemist in Seattle. These movies proved popular enough that they were spun off into a series, which placed Kolchak in Chicago with the Independent News Service. Each week for 20 weeks he investigated various supernatural and supranatural creatures, ranging from aliens to vampires to Aztec sacrificial cults. Although it only lasted one season on ABC, Kolchak has remained a cult favorite and been kept alive through the efforts of creator Jeffrey Grant Rice, Mark Dawidziak, and the folks at Moonstone Comics, who produced two Kolchak comic books and a series of novels and anthologies. The show also spawned a brief and very loose remake in 2005, Night Stalker.moreless

Poltergeist: The Legacy was a show that tried to capture the style and success of The X-Files but move it more fully into the horror genre. 'Since the beginning of time mankind has existed between the world of light and the world of darkness. This journal chronicles the work of our secret society, known as The Legacy, created to protect the innocent from those creatures that inhabit the shadows and the night.' So the opening credits intoned. The show had a four season run, three years on the Showtime Network and one year on SciFi. It was never able to attract a huge audience, its highest ratings occurring in its final season when it featured WWE wrestler The Undertaker as a being from Hell who collected souls. While not getting the plaudits of The X-Files, it managed to create an interesting group of characters and story ideas.moreless

The Good Guys is an action comedy about two detectives stuck in small crimes, though their "routine investigations" (Code 58s) often lead them into bigger cases and even bigger trouble. Jack Bailey (Colin Hanks), a cop who follows the rules but has an annoying habit of making enemies higher up, is paired with Dan Stark (Bradley Whitford), an unpredictable old-school cop whose heroic rescue of the Governor's son 30 years ago keeps him employed. Even so, Dan's drinking and antics leave him stuck with Jack in the Property Crimes Division. Jack's only ally is his ex, Assistant District Attorney Liz Traynor (Jenny Wade), who must balance chastising the troublesome duo with standing up for their unconventional police prowess to their boss Lieutenant Ana Ruiz (Dianna Maria Riva). Creator and Executive Producer Matt Nix (Burn Notice) originally conceived the series 10 years ago as a feature film script Jack & Dan to reinvent the buddy-cop comedy-action drama. The Good Guys ended after one season.moreless

Welcome to the Peter Gunn guide at tv.com. Mystery/Detective show "Peter Gunn" was telecast on NBC for two seasons moving over to ABC for it's third final season. Peter Gunn was a private detective in the film noir tradition. All of the shows were black and white and featured the music of Henry Mancini. The action of the show was closely tied to the musical score and you could usually tell what was happening on the screen by the music accompanying it. The show was set in and around Mother's Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Pete, as his friends called him, was often aided by police Lieutenant Jacoby. At the jazz club, Mother was joined as a regular character by Edie Hart, a jazz singer and Pete's girlfriend. Henry Mancini released an album called Music from Peter Gunn featuring the theme and music from this show. It won a Grammy award at the first Grammy award presentation. The Characters: Peter Gunn: The title character of the show. He's the hip, sophisticated version of the detectives of the past. All those that came after him looked back to him for inspiration. Edie Hart: Pete's girlfriend and a jazz singer at Mother's Jazz Club. Mother: The owner of Mother's Jazz Club and very protective of her friends. Lieutenant Jacoby: Pete's pal and informant from the police department. Recurring Characters: Barney: The bartender at Mother's Jazz Club. Emmett: The piano player at Mother's Jazz Club.
