Michael Palin: New Europe is the BBC travel series where Monty Python alum Michael Palin takes us along with him on his globe-trotting adventures. Michael's travels in New Europe show a world that has changed greatly since the collapse of the Iron Curtain and the end of the Cold War. Most of the perception of Europe focuses on Western Europe, forgetting that the countries in Eastern Europe are new to the western world. They are new nations with new governments trying to find their place in the post-Soviet world. Michael journeys on a voyage of discovery in places that were once forbidden, enjoying the new freedom to roam unhindered of places in his own continent which he previously couldn't visit. The series had seven episodes where Palin visits 20 countries, seeing places like Moldova, Estonia, Slovakia, Serbia, Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, and Herzegovina. Palin also released a companion book called New Europe, documenting the trip with photographs by Basil Pao.moreless

The cameras shadow Logothetis as he travels to Europe's hottest destinations without spending more than five Euros each day. This five Euro per diem must cover travel, lodging, and food. Logothetis follows other rules as well: he never spends more than 24 hours in a single place, and must pass through certain select cities assigned to him by the show's producers. The daily five Euros must be spent in only a day; Logothetis forfeits any change that remains at the close of each day. In order to meet his goals, he must often work for food or rely upon the kindness of strangers. Keys to the Castle is a documentary TV series developed by HGTV that follows host, actor John Barrowman, as he explores what it is like for modern owners of castles. With palatial homes with stones older than most cities, these home owners in Dorset, Suffolk, and two in Scotland as well as four chateaux in France give a personalized tour sharing all the secrets and joys of living in some of the oldest homes in Europe. From unbelievable landscapes of hedge mazes to moats keeping the neighbors from asking for some sugar, these homes offer both pros and cons to living in a flashback to the Middle Ages. John gets a taste of what it is like to have a home with ghosts from the sixteenth century, heating over one hundred rooms in a stone building, and maintaining a very old and very leaky roof. Keys to the Castle is an interesting look at the romantic (and somewhat cool) reality of living life as the royals do.moreless

Adam sees candy wonders like an art gallery where the paintings are made from candies, a chocolate spa, and even a sweet shop with a life-sized Marilyn Monroe sculpture made of Jelly Bellies.
