Lovesick/King of All Root Beer
AIRED:
Lovesick:

While the brothers are watching a scary monster movie, they are interrupted by Human Kimberly at their door with a gift of broccoli. Gordon is fiercely allergic to the broccoli and he puffs up so bad that he looks just like the monster in the movie. Mr. Blik and Waffle think he is the monster from the movie and run for their lives. When they can no longer run they are faced with their only option….fight the beast!

King of All Root Beer:

Let the games begin! Mr. Blik, Gordon and Waffle engage in an Olympic-competition in which they battle each other in a series of physical challenges in hopes of winning the title of Root Beer King. Mr. Blik, who cannot stand to loose, cheats Waffle out of the crown, but he is in for a surprise at the parade when he finds out that he isn't riding the float….he is the float!

  • LOVE IT!!

I couldn't stand it anymore after I stopped watching this show as a kid
  • "The monester ate gordon, we'll escape in the escape pod, No its really me. You don't even sound like him. What does he sound like?"

This is very special episode. I think everyone should see it. Maybe a little frightning for younger children, but hey, go with the flow everybody. Waffle's very funney in this episode.

Mr. Blik is as greedy as anything in this episode. Go watch it at all costs. Go watch it.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Why would Human Kimberly give Gordon chocolate? Cats die if they eat chocalate.

    • The hanger the cats run into to inflate themselves is Hangar 18. It is a reference to the film of the same name, and thusly the song of the same title by the band Megadeth.

    • The cats possibly couldn't have been the only competitors in the challenge to be the root beer king. Shouldn't there be kids competing?

    • In one of the scenes where Blik and Waffle are inflated balloons and are fighting in "King of All Root Beer", Blik's eyes turn white for about a minute or so.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Sassyfrass: Results so far are that everyone is doing...adequate. Mr. Blik has a tiny little lead.
Mr. Blik: Naturally, for I AM THE KING!
Sassyfrass: But there is one last test. The Root Beer Trivia.
Mr. Blik: Ha Ha. Look at those--trivia?!

    • Lady in Audience: Look! Giant invading cats are attacking the city!
      Man in Audience: Not again!
Sassyfrass: What are they doing?! They're ruining my parade! Uck! (to Root Bear) Get them down!

    • Waffle: The Burpo's factory stands 300 feet tall and spews root beer to the quarter hour.
Mr. Blik: Waffle, a king needs leadership, not a bunch of la-de-da trivia.
Gordon: Besides, that's just a rumor.
      (factory spews out root beer)
Gordon, Mr. Blik, & Waffle: (drink root beer) Mmmmmmm.

    • Gordon: (gets pinched by Mr. Blik and drops the piece of broccoli) Aww, my sweet broccoli is in the elevator.

    • Waffle: We know Gordon's allergic! Stop trying to trick us with the truth! Truth tricker!

    • Mr.Blik:Wait, we do not run from this house!

Waffle:Then why do we have an escape pod?

  • NOTES (4)

  • ALLUSIONS (6)

    • Sassyfrass

Sassyfrass gets her name from Sassafrass. A tree whose roots were once used in making root beer.

    • "Paging Dr. Girard. Paging Dr. Girard" This is said over the loud speaker in the hospital in "Lovesick." This is a reference to Michal Girard, the director of the show.

    • Hanger 18

The hangar the cats run into to inflate themselves is Hanger 18. According to UFO theorists, the government is keeping a downed UFO in Hanger 18 in Roswell, New Mexico.

    • The music from parade day is the tune of the theme song.

    • Root Beer Bubbles: Float Up to Start Next Sequence

This is a reference to the sequence of bubbles from another Nicktoon, Spongebob Squarepants

    • When it shows the commercial for Burpo's, the root beer company, the curtain with the two children and the root beer bottle in the middle, slightly resembles the sign from the "Log" commercial in the television show Ren & Stimpy."
