Full Episode Summary

Original air date?9/29/2011 Burning Man & Brooklyn: Burning Man, the ever-more popular annual festival, takes place in the Nevada desert for one week. But for many months, one couple led a crew of Brooklynites as they built a remarkable piece of art and then moved it cross-country – all so it could go up in a final blaze of glory. 30 Years of Contemporary Art: Artists in Brooklyn are as common as, what, bagels? It wasn’t always that way. BRIC Rotunda Gallery, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has played a big part in the extraordinary growth of contemporary art in Brooklyn. We visit some artists’ studios and hear how the art scene crossed the river and then exploded over the last three decades. Dave Eggar: This remarkable cellist has played with many musicians, in many styles, and for some unusual events (have you ever accompanied a karate exhibition?). Down at Old Fulton Landing, we hang out with Eggar and his percussionist and producer friend Chuck Palmer; both are members of the band Deoro.
