Jackie Gleason had an idea for a sketch starring Reggie Van Gleason III as a pro wrestler. During rehearsals, he instructed the wrestlers to manhandle him. They did, and he received a strained shoulder and wrenched back in exchange. Morey Amsterdam was called in with little time to prepare to fill in as host.
