Celanese Theatre

Show Summary

Celanese Theatre was a live dramatic anthology series which alternated every two weeks with "Pulitzer Prize Playhouse" on Wednesday nights. Playwright Maxwell Anderson's wife Mabel Anderson was the story editor throughout the run of the series. Albert Heschong was the art director and set designer of the series. The series lasted only one season due to the stiff competition of Boxing with the fights between Jake LaMotta & Gene Hairston, Sugar Ray Robinson & Rocky Graziano winning the timeslot. This is particularly unfortunate because in its first year on TV, Celanese has put on more grownup drama than almost any of its rivals
