  • Barry Williams

    Himself- Dismissed 3rd

    6.1
Barry William Blenkhorn grew up in Santa Monica, California and after he turned 4 years old he became one of those annoying kids who were bound and determined to get into show business. He was neighbors with actor Peter Graves whom he idolised and asked for advice on how to become an actor and his response was that he just thought about it. At the age of 11 he changed his name from Barry William Blenkhorn to Barry Williams he then got an acting coach and took some scene study courses in Sherman Oaks and took courses for film and television techniques which later he landed a lead role in an educational school industrial called Why Johnny Can Read and landed roles in TV commercials. Then he had guest roles in TV shows such as Run for Your Life, Here Come the Brides, It Takes a Thief, Marcus Welby MD and Mission: Impossible but then success came for him when he landed the role of Greg Brady in the Blockbuster hit family sitcom series The Brady Bunch. After the first season him and his TV siblings made a Christmas album signed by Paramount Records which sold terribly as critics called them 6 kids who couldn't sing so Barry took singing lessons and released a single by the same record company called "Sweet Sweetheart" hoping to have a solo album released but producers thought he should wait for that moment while he was making records with his TV siblings as they made 3 more records, did summer tours and had their own animated TV series The Brady Kids on which some of their songs were featured. After the series ended in 1974 Barry started performing solo in concerts and then took up musical theatre and landed numerous successful roles in shows like Pippin, West Side Story, Oklahoma, Movie Star, Grease, The Music Man, Romance/Romance, City of Angels and The Sound of Music and still did the odd acting appearance in front of the camera like in Police Woman, Three's Company, Highway to Heaven, Murder She Wrote and a stint on the daytime soap General Hospital and the MTV series S Club 7 in Hollywood as well as in all the Brady Bunch reunion shows. In 1978 he did try taking a shot at pursuing a solo career and signed up with Private Stock records but their label went out of business, but however in 1999 he did release a tribute album called "The Return of Johnny Bravo" doing cover songs that expressed him as a singer as well as celebrating 30 years of The Brady Bunch. He continues to do musical theatre as well as touring with his music and public speaking.moreless

He attended the Admiral Farragut Academy, a military school where he developed his character and discipline that would benefit him for the rest of his life. During his four years at Farragut, he became interested in athletics and lettered in wrestling and track.

He was president of his senior and 2nd in charge of a Battalion of 300 cadets. He graduated with the intention of enrolling in the University of California to study veterinary medicine. During the summer of this year, however, Lorenzo visited his father Fernando on the film set of The Cheap Detective. It was at this point that Lorenzo decided to purse a career in acting and to follow his father's advice to enroll in Tony Barr's actors' studio. Lorenzo' first big break came at nineteen, when he won the role of Tom Chisum in the blockbuster film Grease. From there, he was cast in several television roles until he got another lucky break, being cast in the nighttime soap Falcon Crest. Lorenzo had been studying the martial art, Tae Kwon Do, and the producers quickly realized how important it was to incorporate this skill into his character's action scenes. After nine years on Falcon Crest, Lorenzo's action hero credentials were established and he made a number of action movies including Snake Eater, Body Rock and CIA Target Alexa, which he also directed. Lorenzo was by this point a black belt and met with Stephen Cannell to develop an action television series, Renegade. For the next five years, He filmed 110 episodes of this show, producing and occasionally directing as well as acting in the series. Air America followed, whetting Lorenzo's appetite for aviation. Thanks to the many hours this series required he spent behind the controls of an airplane, Lorenzo became a certified private pilot in 1997 and later got his commercial helicopter rating as well. Actively pursuing his career as an actor, director and producer, Lorenzo stays very busy. Herself- Runner Up

    8.0

Traci Bingham was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, who set great examples for the baby of the family. The Cambridge, Mass. family was very close knit, so Traci initially took up sports to spend more time with her brothers. And Traci was game for anything - even football! Traci looks back upon her childhood with fondness, saying, "I feel privileged to have had such exposure to my roots continually throughout my childhood. It's given me strength to believe in myself." Just as all her brothers and sisters before her had, Traci was Ivy League bound, and Harvard was where she settled.

    .

While at Harvard, Traci was able to work on a few of the school's productions, including "Annie" and "Grease." She loved it, and wanted to possibly pursue acting. She grabbed a small part in the movie Celtic Pride, and she was hooked! After a few guest roles on television shows and a nationally run Coca-Cola ad, Traci packed her bags. She decided to put her Harvard studies on hold, and catch the next train to Los Angeles.

    .

And off to L.A. she went. She quickly grabbed guest spots on many of the hottest sitcoms on television - from Married...with Children to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But her big break was still to come...

    .

After two years of hunting down small parts, Traci decided to take the Pamela Anderson Path to Hollywood Fame. That's right - Playboy and Baywatch. In any order, it was a role on the most watched show in the world, and a smiling face in one of the most read magazines in the world. It is definitely a great way to go.

    .

Actress Juanita Moore is just one of many African American actresses in Hollywood who was given the opportunity to act at a time when many African Americans didn't have that chance. Dynamic and swift, Moore first got the attention of 20th Century Fox and immediately had her starring in supporting roles in such films including Lydia Bailey, Afraid of Trinidad, "Queen Bee" and Ransom". Because of the time of racial standards, Moore never gave up this opportunity to act. In 1959, Moore received an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actress as Lana Turner's troubled maid in the motion picture from the best selling novel "Imitation of Life". Moore continued to act in major motion pictures that included "Walk on the Wild Side" and "The Singing Nun". She became a fixture of such black-oriented films of the 70's including Up Tight!, The Mack and Abby. Her recent appearances have included her in the 1988 erotic sex thriller Two Moon Junction and Disney's The Kid with Bruce Willis in 2000.

  • Coolio

    Himself- Winner

    6.3
Artis Ivey, 1 August 1963, Compton, Los Angeles, California, USA. Boasting a long, though infrequently recorded, career in hip-hop, rapper Coolio's career finally took off after attending rehabilitation classes in an attempt to kick his cocaine habit. Coolio started making music again with WC And The MADD Circle, contributing to their 1991 release, Ain't A Damn Thang Changed (he would also perform on one track on their belated follow-up, 1995's Curb Servin'). He then joined the 40 Thevz, a hip-hop community made up of producers, rappers and dancers who would collaborate with him on all his recordings. Along with his friend DJ Bryan "Wino" Dobbs, Coolio signed to Tommy Boy Records who released the single "County Line" about his experiences on welfare assistance. "Fantastic Voyage", based on Lakeside's 1980 hit, became a Top 5 single, and Coolio's profile was further enhanced by an autumn tour with R&B megastar R. Kelly. It Takes A Thief was a major seller, going platinum and establishing Coolio at the forefront of mid-90s hip-hop. "Gangsta's Paradise", taken from his sophomore album of the same name, was a resigned lament performed with the gospel singer L.V. and a full choir that sampled Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise". The single, featured in the movie Dangerous Minds, went to number 1 in the US and the UK. In the UK this was the first time anything approaching true "street rap" had achieved such sales. As the music business magazine Music Week commented, "in Britain for such a record to reach number one is quite sensational". The song won a Grammy in 1996 for Best Rap Solo Performance. My Soul, which included the hit single "C U When U Get There", was another downbeat collection that confirmed Coolio as one of hip-hop's most interesting artists. He subsequently set up his own Crowbar label and concentrated on an acting career.moreless
