Celebrity Squares

Show Summary

Bob Monkhouse presents this British version of Hollywood Squares, in which two contestants attempt to win cash and a star prize of a car by playing a giant version of Noughts and Crosses with nine celebrities. Contestants win cash and a place on the board by correctly guessing whether the one of the celebrities has answered their general knowledge question correctly. After being axed in 1979, the series was later revived on ITV in 1993 by Reg Grundy Productions and Central Television for four series and So Television produced a non broadcast pilot for Channel 5. All 138 episodes of this ATV series were believed to have been wiped from the archives until it was revealed in 2011 BBC Four documentary The Secret Life of Bob Monkhouse that the star has recorded 40 episodes for his own private collection.
