Julia reveals that she has been guiding Richard Naismith’s plans, and persuades Miss. Cooper that Century could restore to her what she misses the most – the children of the village.
Tess, being hurt by her mother’s harsh words, goes to talk to Esme. Esme reveals that Josiah Naismith, Richard’s father, tried to offer the village protection from the outside world, in the form of Century – a psychic embodiment of the villagers’ power. The power unleashed by Century, however, was too strong, and an intense psychic storm destroyed the temple and killed forty villagers. After probing further, Esme concludes that Elisabeth was one of the ‘scattered children’ of the village – Tess and her mother are therefore both part of the village bloodline! Tess, Esme and May go to talk to Elisabeth about what they deduce, Tess and her mother are reconciled, and Elisabeth agrees to leave Century Falls.
Meanwhile, Julia, Ben, Ashe and Richard go to the waterfall. Julia tells Ben that he must have faith, and must draw power from the waterfall so that the temple may be recreated. Ben concentrates, and the entire waterfall begins to glow with fire…moreless
