A very unique episode for Changing Rooms. Instead of homeowner's being next door neighbors, this episode has two brothers from two different continents. Bryce and British Joanne met while she was on holiday in New Zealand. They have lived in their 1920's cottage for two years. They would like their bedroom redone, but they do not want the furniture touched. It was a wedding present In New Zealand, Simon and wife Judith have lived in their home for 2 1/2 years. Their living room is in desperate need of attention as they don't like anything about it. Linda Barker & Handy Andy (still in England), are going for a medieval feel. Linda breaks out a mauve paint color that is a bit bright. Andy builds a new big fireplace covered in huge stone blocks that are just an effect, made with mdf. Andy thinks the paint color is Barbie pink. Linda was going for a burgundy, so she ends up going to the store to get a better shade. Linda has colored gels that she will use to make a fake stained glass window. They do a stippling effect on the stone work mdf to achieve stone look they want. They place swords above the fireplace to top off the scottish medieval castle look. Donald Grant Sunderland & Handy Andy Dye (still in new Zealand) start by using schist rock, which is a local rock, on a lot of the designs. The paint revealed is a pale dusky blue, orange sorbet, very light orange, taupe, and thyme (slight grayish purple-y pink). Bottom half of the wall is the blue, top is taupe, and a touch of a slight thyme color in a stripe between. Joanne does a lot of sewing for the room specifically checkered pattern curtains. They have to fly back to their countries to take a look at their rooms. Both hosts chat at the end of day one via web cams.moreless
