      • This is the first of two CHANNING episodes written by Bob Kaufman; he would also pen the season (and series) finale. Michael Beirne makes the first of two appearances in the CHANNING series; he returns as a diifferent character in Episode 26. Kip King plays his second small role in a CHANNING episode; he first appeared in Episode 4. Kip King [real name Jerome Kattan] is the father of former SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE regular, Chris Kattan.

      • MCHALE'S NAVY regulars, Joe Flynn, Tim Conway, and Roy Roberts, make "special guest appearances" in this episode. MCHALE'S NAVY, like CHANNING, began as a 1962 pilot on the ALCOA PREMIERE anthology series. MCHALE'S NAVY made it into the ABC fall line-up in fall 1962 with CHANNING following in fall 1963. ALCOA PREMIERE production number for "Seven Against The Sea" [McHale pilot] was 15812; for "The Best Years" [Channing pilot] was 15813.

Weird, no one has discussed Channing yet.
