Chaplin's Essanay Comedies

Show Summary

Chaplin's Essanay Comedies collects together the films that revolutionized film-making. It was while he was working at Essanay studios that Chaplin perfected the comic character that we all know and love. It's also there that his most famous film, "The Little Tramp," was made. "A Night Out," while not as widely known is just as iconic. Chaplin worked at Essanay only for a year, yet that year was extremely prolific and produced some of the most famous Chaplin films. Image Entertainment worked with the best possible source material when restoring these films, making it possible for the viewing public to see some of them again for the first time in years. In Volume One there is "His New Job," "A Night Out," "The Champion," "In the Park," and "A Jitney Elopement." In Volume Two there is "The Tramp," "By the Sea," "Work," "A Woman," "The Bank," "His Regeneration." Volume Three has the only film that was not made in 1915, "Triple Trouble," along with "Shanghaied," "A Night in the Show," "Police," and "Burlesque on 'Carmen.'" With so many iconic Chaplin works, this collection is sure to delight fans young and old.moreless
