This was the first Peanuts special to be made after the rights went from CBS to ABC, excluding 2001's "The Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas".
Perhaps wanting to stay as close to the comic strip as possible after Schulz's death, some characters are animated just as they are drawn. Lucy has a white border around her hair, Snoopy has a white border around his ears, and Franklin has lines on his face.
The little red-haired girl looks different in this one than she did in "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown" and "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown".
(Charlie Brown has just called Marcie by mistake) Marcie: (On the phone) Is that you, Charles? It sounds like your voice. If it is, how have you been? If it isn't, what do I care how you've been?
Linus: You've got to complement her, Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown: YOU LOOK REALLY CUTE TODAY!!! Bang in the backround Linus: That's great Charlie Brown. She fell out of her chair.
Listen Closely: During the Valentine's Day dance, you can hear a version of "Linus and Lucy" from the "A Charlie Brown Christmas 40-year Anniversary" CD.
