Linus is smitten by a new girl who comes to the neighborhood school. But she develops the symptoms of leukemia and must go to the hospital for cancer treatment. Linus and Charlie Brown help her through the traumas of chemotherapy as best as they can while Snoopy plays at being the world's greatest doctor.

    No one likes getting sick, and what happens to Janine was no different. What she had to go not only to survival but made Linus go through a transforming to a shy young boy to a brave young man. When Linus notices that Janine was getting sick, he had a feeling that something was worst than he thought. He was right. When he and Charlie Brown learn that Janine was admitted to the hospital, they knew it was the right thing to visit her. They learn that what Janine was suffering from was leukemia and is being treated for the condition. This has an effect on Linus, which was shown when confront by his bossy sister, Lucy, and a bully. Both made their disgust about Linus caring for a cancer patient, but instead of taking it, Linus stood up and fight back. As the show goes on, we are shown the effects of Janine's treatment and the hope she could recover from what she had to go through. Linus had to go with the illness with her, without the fear of being infected with the same illness since leukemia isn't passed on. When spring arrive, it was not only a sign of renew, but a sign of a new beginning. While on the swings set, Janine shows how she recovered from leukemia, it can also be seen as a sign of renewal, such like the spring time is a sign of earth becoming green again.moreless
