I get that this show exists within three parallel universes. However, it is very hard to understand whether the main Character Charlie Jade is daydreaming, sleeping (dreaming), having visions, thinking, and etc. The transitions from one reality to the next are horrible to me.

This is the only episode of the show that I have seen, therefore, can someone explain to me what governs his ability to slip from one reality to the next? Also, a lot of the scenes were filmed with such bad lighting, rushed action, and etc. that I am lost sometimes with the changing of scenes. If somebody can give a brief synopsis of what he is trying to accomplish and why, I would deeply, deeply, appreciate it.

I'm only halfway thru the first episode. I taped it and watched part of it before I got side tracked.
It is a bit hard to follow because of all the flashbacks, etc.
My mother hated it and won't watch again.

I'd say you just really need to sit down and focus on this when you watch it or just don't bother at all.

I have a problem with focusing so this show may not work for me either! lol

So far now on episode 2 it doesn't explain why Charlie was able to see other universes before his accident at the plant but now he's not seeing other universes he's in one. After the explosion he's now in our universe which I forget is which one but before why he could see and no one else could hasn't been explained. In the second episode a little girl reveals she too could see people popping in and out of reality so all we know is that some people are gifted.

One more thing so far all he's trying to do is get used to his new life and maybe get back home.

I know that somewhere on this site, there is somebody that is going to be able to explain everything and say that they understand the show completely. This person's name may be Urkel, Beethoven, or something like that.... I am only saying that I think the show is doing a poor job of establishing what is going on and how the main character relates to what is going on. So many of the scenes are dark, seemingly incomplete, at times a bit unrelated to previous ones, and etc... I am going to give this show a little more time perhaps two more episodes. If no improvement, I will have a free extra hour on my hands...

I was confused too... I couldn't figure out what verse was what... Then I found this link in another thread and it helped so much... I think I can watch and really enjoy this show now.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Jade

The Summary of the Plot really helped lay out the different Verses... The main characters... The weird color schemes...

I really like the gritty look of this show and I think it has an interesting plot... I'm going to stick with it.

And, thanks to lowriderz95s10 for the link.

I did and I am finally getting it and now I think it should be moved to a better time slot.

It seems like they wanted you to be as confused as Charlie was in the first few episodes. As soon as he started to understand so did the audience.

I think that is part of it. He is confused, at first any way.
The visions, flashbacks, and sight into the other verses is all important.
Stick with it, it is a good series. I have seen it all the way through 4 times now. Gets better each time. This series so needs a 2nd season.

I am a big 'Sliders' fan, so might be bias. Its in line with my favorite types of scifi. Hope you all make it through to the end, and can watch it through a second time. There is several very deep plots all going on a once.

I don't think it's hard to understand at all. Maybe I have an unfair advantage because the seasons almost over. From what I've gathered, the three universes can be distinguished by their level pollution. (the little subtitles at the bottom also help) Alphaverse is the most polluted so it's covered in darkness because the sun is being blocked by all the smog the universe produces. Betaverse is our world, and gamma verse is even cleaner then our world. It's why it's always composed of such vivid colors. You can tell Charlie is having a vision when something is out of place or the color scheme of the scene changes. I'm not sure, but it seems Charlie's and 01's (the son of the President of Vexcorp) ability to see parallel worlds is the result of all the pollution in their universe. I might be wrong. At Least I know it has something to do with the water. Apparently the concept of travel between worlds is based in the idea that our place in the multiverse is dependant on how we perceive the universe. By shifting how one sees the universe or by shifting one's perception they can shift move themselves from one universe to another. So what appears to be a hallucination could actually be us perceiving another universe. It has something to do with the Uncertainty Principle and Quantum physics.

    I hope that helps.

And I resent the idea that just because someone understands what's going on on the show, that it means the persons a nerd. It's just possible that some people just aren't as brightly lit as others.

the show has some confusing moments and leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

however, overall it is not very hard to follow. Charlie lives in Alpha and sees visions of other universes, and when chasing Boxer he gets stuck in Beta due to the explosion. He then has to figure out WTF is going on because he comes to realize he's been teleported to the place he's been having visions about, and he is stuck there. So he is trying to make sense of everything.

I think it is best to watch as a marathon and see at least 3 or 4 episodes at once. I'd hate to watch the show one episode at a time over the course of many weeks.
