things are starting to get really, really good. or, if you're a character in charlie jade, things are starting to get really ,really bad.
in beta, entire lakes are disappearing as vexcor continues its shameless and immoral quest for more money, more resources, more power. and interdimensional domination, one might add.
who might be the scientist to discover all of this but charlie's once-soul mate, gemma gitano. through the gemma character, we learn more about charlie's sad past in the alphaverse. it's interesting. he's been a street kid, and like some street kids (and like gemma)he found a way to rise beyond his C3 status.
this episode provides some interesting conflict -- between gemma and the desperate and brutal julius galt (who wants to cover up the natural disasters), between gemma and charlie (who still has hurt feelings about the way the two of them parted), between karl and charlie (because once again, charlie's selfish approach to the mystery is getting karl's hackles up).
this episode is excellent for context and back story. a little slow on the action. but the show, at this point, is really starting to fill out and grow into its potential.
