01 orders his cronies to drug Krogg's girlfriend to aid in the extraction of information from her, which he will use to implicate Vex-Cor's board of directors in the bombing.
  • oooh. boxer's so bad! and charlie's so good... but meethinks the dichotomy won't last.

01 boxer's character can certainly border on the ridiculous. but michael filipowich is a great actor, and we usually excuse the extreme writing when this happens because boxer is fun to watch.

he's an evil genius and he's a horny, teenage-acting club owner. he's an insidious killer and he's a fun loving crap-disturber. ah, the intricacies of 01. later in the series (don't worry, no spoiler follows), he explains the significance of his name with regards to his personality.

in this episode, he's the creepy, slimy, filthy informant/rogue vexcor agent who destroys the life of elliot crogg's girlfriend, karen. he has also murdered krogg not one episode before this. and charlie's on his trail, trying to pick up the peices. or at least fit them together so he can figure out the mystery and get back home.

but as he holds the shattered karen's hand after rescuing her from 01's henchmen, we get the thought that charlie is uncomfortable being a "good guy." he's always just been his own guy. a loner. and now he's being thrust into the role of champion or activist.

this episode is good for laying the groundwork for charlie and boxer to duke it out in the episodes that follow. is charlie the embodiment of good and is boxer the embodiment of evil? after all, they're both working against vexcor in some way -- and both are motivated by selfish reasons.

    the plot thickens!moreless
