Supreme Court struck down Colorado's anti-gay amendment, which sought to take away the power of government at any level, state or local, to protect lesbians and gay men from discrimination. Here to continue the nation-wide debate are Matt Coles, the director of the ACLU's Lesbian and Gay Rights Program and one of the lawyers in the Supreme Court case, Martin Duberman, an historian of the gay and lesbian movement, Urvashi Vaid, lesbian activist and author of Virtual Equality and Andrew Sullivan, former editor of The New Republic and author of Virtually Normal.
