  • A great mistake?

I love Charmed and I am watching it again however got very confused at this episode.

When Prue, the teenage one, left the house, it was dark, when she met the demon it was dark, when she started running from it - it was dark. So it was still dark when Prue called Piper and Phoebe to come and save her.

WHen Piper and Phoebe leave the house, they say that they gotta go and its gonna be late soon. When they arrive in the park it is light outside. what the hell happened? Prue hadnt driven far away to spend the whole night driving, so it cant take too long for Piper and Phoebe to get there, and that light didnt even look like morning. So what the hell happened? I tried to look this up as a mistake somewhere, but noone seems to have noticed!moreless
  • A Genie, employed by a Dragon Warlock to steal the Halliwells' powers, offers to grant each sister one wish for whatever they most desire.

What would your wishes be if you could have three wishes? I have always thought what would I wish for, what would I want. But I will keep my wishes to myself uptil my genie comes along.

This Eppisode was Ms.Doherty directorial debut. And a fine job she did.

I have to say I love French Stewart in the eppisode and ever show I have ever seen him. He has the acting ability to make me believe that he is what ever character he is playing. I can say I almost starting crying when he told Piper and Pheobe he did'nt mean for this to happen when Prue got killed.

This is the first time for Prue to die, right? Pheobe in Mortality Bits, Piper, almost in Awakening, and now Prue, This is going to be a recurring thing I can see that.

Poor Dan, I was at first sorry for him, but when he said that he was sorry that he ever found out about the sister and what they do and wishes he had never know, I was like, good, go away then. Did we ever find out why or what happen to Jennie? Did she move back in with her parents?

I can see that Pheobe is not ready for an active power. I think she can see that also.

Wonder what will Leo show Piper when he "takes her to his leader" .

Over all this was a good eppisode, with Prue as usual shutting the manor door at the end.

  • Be Careful What You Witch For

Be Careful What You Witch For was a perfect episode and season two finale of Charmed. I really enjoyed watching because the story was awesome, intriguing and full of character and plot development. It was great to see a new type of Warlock, the Dragon Warlock who has the power to fly and breathe fire. I also thought it was interesting to see a genie and how he operated within this series. I was pleased by all aspects of the episode. The characters were well played, the sets, costumes and music all fit perfectly. Piper decided to present herself to those who Leo answers to and I'm left curious to see that scene and to learn what happens next! This has been a fantastic season and I look forward to watching more!!!!!!!!!moreless
  • Genie-ology

Be Careful What You Witch For-A Genie, employed by a Dragon Warlock to steal the Halliwells' powers, offers to grant each sister one wish for whatever they most desire.

Definately not the strongest season finale as it plays more for laughs than for a big finish, "Be Careful What You Witch For" is still pretty solid episode thanks to some a hilarious performance by French Stuart and some very entertaining scenes. I loved how each wish effected the sisters, the first being Prue becoming 17 again. Shannen really looks like she's having fun with her role. Then there's Phoebe getting the ability to fly which was just hilarious watching her flying around the manor with Piper and Leo literally being oblivious to her there and Phoebe crashing into the attic, delievering a hilarious line:

    Phoebe: "Flying's awesome, but it's the landing that's a real b!%@#."

But at the same time, Piper's wish causes Dan to become extremely old. Funny how the most interesting storyline Dan gets is when he is slowly dieing of old age. Of course, Piper tells Dan the truth and Dan can't handle it, ehw! Who needs him anyway, I'm glad the writers dropped the character after this season because he and Jenny added absolutely nothing to it, and you wonder why they create in the first place. Anyway, the Dragon warlock was cool villain and I liked the fire effects of his dragon breath or whatever. Prue's brief death provides some nice weepy scenes but it's so obvious that she would come back as soon as the Genie returned. So Leo and Piper go up to see them together, leaving Prue and Piper by themselves for a while. Hope they don't kill each other! All and All, not a great finale by any means, but an entertaining episode to say the least.moreless
  • Here's wishing Season 2 had a better ending...

I had a lot of issues with this finale the first time around, but it did improve with a second viewing, enough that I raised its score a full point.

It still isn't one of the better finales, but it is a fairly entertaining hour. French Stewart is excellent as the genie. Yes, his character is pretty irritating the first half of the show, and he obeys virtually none of the rules normally associated with genies. I'm not sure why he wants freedom so bad when he seems to have plenty of freedom already. Once the sisters accidently let him out of the bottle, he pretty much goes where he wants and does what he wants until all 3 sisters have been tricked into making faux wishes. He then gets turned into a powerless genie?? What is the sense of that? We get a far more traditional take on genies in the better "I Dream of Phoebe" in Season 6. The Dragon is also well-acted by Marcus Graham, though he doesn't seem near as dangerous as advertised. His vanquish is also kind of a cop out, though it was cool to see the Power of 3 chant used again. If I am not mistaken, we don't hear it again until its Piper, Phoebe and Paige in Womb Raider.

We also have a geriatric evil council that apparently is the precursor to the Triad. Not sure why they had to get a bunch of guys on death's door. Still, it is a good lead in to Season 3. The dramatic climax of the episode is Prue's death, which is wonderfully acted by Holly and Alyssa. I'm not so hip to a genie being able to wish someone back from the dead, but I'll let that pass. The genie was a lot better character as a good guy.

Dan gets his send off here, and it is well done. The scene at his door with Piper shows how foolish that relationship was in the first place. Too bad the entire scenario is done again later with Phoebe and Jason.

Overall, I enjoyed watching Season 2 again. Many of the lesser episodes I actually thought better of this time around. The season's best were Morality Bites, That Old Black Magic, P3 H2O, and Awakened. Obviously, things dramatically derailed after the Piper/Leo/Dan love triangle ended, and the season kind of limped to the finish. Unique to this season, there were NO long term bad guys, and no continuing love interests for Phoebe or Prue. That would all change at the start of Season 3.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (38)

    • When Teenage Prue got stabbed and Piper froze the scene, Why didn't they call for Leo to come heal her right after it happened.

    • In the season 1 episode Secrets and Guys, Phoebe discovers that Leo is actually a whitelighter and he explains that he knew about her and her sisters' secret and that he'd been watching them since they were born. But in this episode, he does not know curiously what happened to Prue when she was 18. And the season 2 episode Murphy's Luck he ignored that Prue had an accident that could cost Phoebe's life several years ago.

    • When Prue calls Piper about Dragon being after her it is almost dawn and even becomes light on the way to find her. Why wouldn't they have been out looking for her long before that? She was 17, without powers and in danger from the Dragon! Why would they not be out looking for her long before that?

    • When Dragon stabs teenage Prue, Piper freezes the scene and runs over to her. A few moments later while Phoebe was getting the car the Genie apparently unfreezes(when he says "what have I done"). Where was the Dragon? He was in the middle of attacking when Piper froze him, so wouldn't he have continued to com,e after them, if the scene unfroze? If he was still frozen, how did the Genie become unstill?

    • In this episode it's stated that Prue was "a nightmare" at seventeen and was constantly in trouble. This, however is somewhat contradicted in the season three episode Coyote Piper, when it is said that not only was Prue popular but the class president and head cheerleader as well! Another questionable piece of history is that Prue had a habit of dating bad boys and was attacked by one at 17. However, it was said that Andy and her were an item all through high school.

    • Why is it that Leo was so quick to accept Piper's request to go up "up there"? In the season three episode Blinded by the Whitelighter as well as numerous other times, it has been said that it is strictily forbidden! Yet, in this episode, Leo acts as if it is perfectly acceptable to take Piper. While, we know he got in trouble for it as well as her memory being erased, wouldn't Leo already know that it was not allowed and at least hesitate?

    • Why would Phoebe and Piper drive or fly to the park to find Prue? Wouldn't it have been much quicker for Leo to orb them there? Surely Dan could have been left alone for five seconds that it would have taken for Leo to orb there and back.

    • This episode features Filter's song I'm Not The Only One, Beth Hart's song Delicious Surprise, Modern English's song Melt With You.

    • TRIVIA: During season 2, the Charmed Ones and their associates vanquish six warlocks, eleven demons, one ghost, one darklighter, one succubus, one witch, two mortals and the four horsemen of the apocalypse - a total of 27 evil beings.

    • Phoebe mentions that maybe the genie is in the restaurant where he found Prue but they shouldn't know that at all. Prue didn't tell them because by the time she got home she was already a teenager.

    • When Piper freezes the warlock in the park it's visible that he was frozen while he was walking. But in the next shot when his feet are shown, he looks like he is no longer walking.

    • TRIVIA: As of this episode, Prue has a new car and the Porsche is gone.

    • TRIVIA: This is the first of two times the sisters come across a genie. The second time is the season 6 episode I Dream of Phoebe where Phoebe is tricked by a genie and turned into one.

    • TRIVIA: This is the third time the Power of Three spell was used.

    • When Leo comes back with the genie, he has blood on his shirt. How did he get blood on his shirt when all he did was try to heal Prue?

    • TRIVIA: This is the second time that one of the sisters dies.

    • TRIVIA: This is the first time that one of the girls turns into a teenager again.

    • Why would the genie grant Phoebe's wish when she didn't really make a wish? She said "I would love an active power" not "I wish for an active power".

    • When Phoebe flies through the attic window she comes in straight, but when they have the second shot of her sliding across the floor, she is at an angle.

    • When Phoebe flies through the attic window her hair is a mess. In the next scene her hair is perfectly combed and styled, but when she is in Prue's room trying to get a premonition her hair is messy again.

    • TRIVIA: The year of Leo's death is mentioned as 1942.

    • TRIVIA: In this episode, Brad Kern the show's writer and co-creator makes his second and final cameo role. He plays the realtor that is with Dan in the scene when Piper sees Dan is selling his house.

    • TRIVIA: In this episode Phoebe asks for an active power, which the Genie grants, giving her levitation ability a jump start foreshadowing its natural appearance in season 3.

    • TRIVIA: This is the first appearance of the Triad, though in this episode they are known as the Council.

    • TRIVIA: French Stewart is the second and last actor to be credited as a "special appearance".

    • TRIVIA: In this episode Prue is shown as a teen with bangs and braces. All the Halliwell sisters have been shown to have bangs and braces as teens. Piper in the season 3 episode "Coyote Piper", Phoebe in the season 6 episode "Hyde School Reunion" and Paige in the season 4 episode "A Paige from the Past".

    • TRIVIA: At the end of the episode, once again, the door of the Halliwell Manor is closed magically by Prue.

    • TRIVIA: In this episode Dan learns about the sisters being witches and Leo being a whitelighter. However, he wishes that he never found out about the whole thing and just wanted to forget it, so Piper makes their final wish by wishing that Dan would forget everything.

    • Did the genie also give Phoebe superhuman strength? How did she manage to pick up the dragon guy and fly him around using only one hand?

    • Why didn't Leo just orb Piper and Prue to the park and then orb back to take care of Dan? That would have saved a lot of time that they didn't really have.

    • Phoebe has a twisted ankle at the start, but if she says it was caused by demons, then why doesn't Leo heal her?

    • When Genie listed the reasons to the sisters why he would be a bad house guest, he said "You think I'm gonna be putting the CDs back in the right case?" Genie had previously said that he had been in the bottle for 200 years, so how does he know anything about CDs?

    • TRIVIA: This episode marks the final appearance of Greg Vaughan (Dan).

    • In season 3 the Triad has three council members, but during this episode's opening scene, there are five council members.

    • At the end of the episode, when Prue shuts the door magically it shows the inside of the house, revealing that there is no door leading into the sitting room. During the show the layout of the house has a foyer that leads into the parlor and a sitting room, there should be a doorway parallel to the front door.

    • How did Prue know that the guy that was after her was named Dragon? We saw her ask his name and he didn't answer and after that he couldn't have told her since she started running.

    • How long did it take Piper and Phoebe to get to the park to rescue Prue? When Prue called the manor for help, it was dark out. When Piper and Phoebe got to the park, it was broad daylight. When Phoebe and Piper are at the manor, Piper says they have to hurry because the sun will be up soon.

    • When Prue got stabbed by the demon in the park, Piper and Phoebe dragged her back home and then called for Leo to heal her, however enough time had actually lapsed for Prue to die. Why didn't they just start yelling for Leo to orb into the park and heal Prue right there? They already know about his orbing power since Piper makes him orb her to the elders at the end of the episode.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Piper: Are you sure you don't remember anything about witches, genies, Dick?
Prue: (at 17) No, but it sounds totally bitchin'.

    • Piper: Where you off to?
      Prue: Lunch date with Dick.
Phoebe: Dull Dick? Prue, you are too hot to have to duty date.
Prue: Yeah, well. All demon hunting and no play has made me a lot less picky. I gotta figure out a way to put more balance in my life.
Piper: Yeah, but you don't need Dick!

    • Piper (confronting the genie): You've tricked us and now there is a warlock that's trying to turn us into witch-kebabs!

    • Genie (to Prue): Don't you just love butter?

    • Genie: You're probably a little upset right?
Piper: No, I've moved past upset and right to pissed off.

    • Piper (about Phoebe flying the dragon demon out of the house): I don't know, can you do that?
Phoebe: I don't know, I can try to do that.

    • (Leo is talking to Piper, but she is not listening)
      Piper: Do you hear something?
(Phoebe is outside flying around the house, screaming, trying to land)
      Leo: No.
(Piper moves foward, certain she heard something. Phoebe suddenly comes crashing through the window and falls to the floor)

    • Leo: At seventeen, Prue didn't have her powers yet which makes you guys more vulnerable.
Phoebe: Yeah, especially if whoever sent the genie is a demon or something.
(The front door flies open from downstairs)
Dragon Warlock: Where's my power? I want it back.
      Phoebe: Who is that?
      Piper: A demon or something.

    • Phoebe: Why does everyone always Phoebe me?

    • Phoebe: Flying is awsome. It's the landing part that's a bitch.

    • Piper: Not so fast. If we're ever gonna make this work I think I deserve to know a little bit more about you, don't you think?
      Leo: What do you mean?
Piper: I mean, I'm going with you, Leo. I'd like to meet them.
      Leo: Are you sure?
      Piper: Positive.
(Piper puts her arms around Leo)
Piper: Take me to your leader.
(They orb up to the Elders together)

    • Dragon Warlock: Where the hell did you come from?
Genie: No, that's where you came from.

    • Piper: Dan is back in town.
      Leo: So?
Piper: So, what am I going to tell him? The last time I saw him he handed me proof that you were killed in 1942. He's going to expect a reaction from me.
Phoebe: How about, 'Hey Dan, you're right, I am a necrophiliac. '.
