  • An alright one.

I actually completely see Leo's side of the argument, especially how Piper does include her sisters a bit TOO much in their personal life. But woop woop to that explosion!

I didn't mind this episode I guess. I wish the breaking of the cake ornament thing would've come back later, especially because they focused on it at the end, but it was still alright.

I like how the only way to let Paige meet Prue is to do it when she was a dog.

Cool seeing Julian again in the flash backsmoreless
  • Cat House

Cat House was a great episode of Charmed and I was really entertained while watching this exciting episode. There was a lot of action, drama, intrigue and humor along with character and plot development. I enjoyed watching the story unfold and it was great to see moments of the past. There was magic, suspense, and surprise with the story lines and it was fun watching them. The sisters come out on top as usual and I certainly look forward to seeing what happens next!!!!!!!moreless
  • Brain Drain Down Memory, what?

This isn't really a good episode. But, it does happen to be a really well-executed flashback episode. A lot of shows do them to save a bit of money, but none really implement its main characters into the plot as well as Charmed does here. The success of the hour mostly falls down to Paige, as we're kind of taken on a Halliwell This Is Your Life tour with the youngest sibling BEFORE she was the youngest sibling, or a sibling at all (at least not to her knowledge). That's where a lot of the fun and tears come from - Paige's reactions to everything that we've already seen add a new set of emotions to the proceedings becasue it is something that she has always wanted (to know the sisters, like Prue did). Naturally, there's no real sign of Prue here, but even so, we do get a (sort of) scene with her at one point, which is better than nothing. The hour fails with some forced tension between Piper and Leo (a pithy line last week aint gonna cut it, I'm afraid) and the main Kit plot coming off a little too silly. But, hey, as money saver episodes go, it's one of the better hours I've seen, and actually one of the better episodes from the back half of season five.moreless
  • Throw This In The Kitty Litter!

Cat House-When Piper and Leo begin to have marital problems, Piper casts a spell to allow them to literally see their past together. However, the spell goes awry when Phoebe and Paige are sent back in time to relive Piper's memories, and a warlock bent on destroying the Charmed Ones' familiar tags along for the ride. I honestly get what the writers were trying to do with this one but this was more insulting than a walk down memory lane for long time fans. The writers know they can't use Shannon Dorethy's image on the show anymore because she made a deal with producers before she left. Now instead of some genuine flashbacks of the original trio, we get cheap ones with a back shot of Shannon's stunt double and Prue as a dog! Lame! Not even one moment of Paige actually getting to see her big sister alive. Nope! Also, since Shannon can't be shown on film anymore, the writers simply ignore that fact that Piper and Leo first met at the end of "Thank You For Not Morphing", not "The Fourth Sister". So that flashback was just random and made no sense. Some moments did like their first kiss in "The Truth Is Out There...", Piper headling Leo in "Love Hurts" amd Leo's proposal in "Honeymoon's Over" but did we really need to see Piper's dancing in the club or Phoebe shattering Leo? Nope! But it did remind us that Charmed use to be a fun, entertaining show back when Prue was alive.....sigh!

The whole plot with Katrina was a mixed bag, on one hand, we got to see Kit again as the writers finally explained her sudden disappearence between Season 3 and 4. Yet at the same time, 1) How come the sister never put it together before that Kit wasn't just a regular cat? Remember back in "Witch Trial" when Phoebe realized that they could find Abraxas by seeing the Power of 3 symbol on Kit's collar. It makes the sisters seem dense in retrospect when from the audience perspective we knew Kit wasn't just a normal cat. It's also a shame that the warlock is played by future "Heroes" star Zachary Quinto. He's probably the worst and most forgettable villain the sisters have ever faced. He doesn't even get a name and is just called "the warlock" for God sakes!! Oh and all of sudden Leo and Piper are having marrial issues! Since when? Hard to believe a major plot development like this when we've had no hints of it in previous episodes. Also, where the h@ll did that large cabinet with Piper and Leo's wedding pictures and cake ornament come from? For an episode that's about looking back on the continuity of the series so far the current continuity sucks! Seriously Kern, do you get your skills from reading "Showrunning for Dummies"!? All and All, "Cat House" is a poor tribute of the Charmed of Old and horrible reminder of the Charmed of New.moreless
  • Season 5's trip down memory lane...

After Wyatt's birth, Season 5 resembles a ship run aground. However, this episode shines like a lighthouse on the reef.

We are 5 seasons into Charmed, and props to the writers for paying homage to the history of the show and basically throwing the dedicated lovers of Charmed a golden bone here.

The flashback scenes accomplish more than giving us a refresher course on the heart of the series, and the central plot line to next season, Piper and Leo's marriage. They also serve to bring Paige closer to her sisters by giving her what she constantly asks for- a chance to see her sisters before Prue died and witness some of the big events she missed.

Piper and Leo having marital issues is a great excuse to cast the spell and take the trip down memory lane. If you were paying close attention, then this spat is not totally out of the blue. Piper and Leo were butting heads last episode, and it seems they always have difficulties whenever Leo's role changes.

It was also good continuity to bring another familiar and Kit back for an episode. Zachary Quinto, of course, always plays a great bad guy, and he's given a couple well-delivered lines here. Frankly, there probably isn't enough of him, but the show has other things to accomplish.

Of course, whenever there are flashback scenes, people can complain about what was shown versus what wasn't shown. If people haven't figured out yet that we will never see an image of Prue again, then get a clue. Production did what they had to do to get around that problem. Ultimately, this episode was about Paige getting to know Piper, Phoebe, and Leo better anyway. It had nothing to do with Prue.

For me, it is always great to see the prime Piper and Leo moments. Special props for the scene with Piper in the parking lot from "Once upon a Time" and for one of my favorite lines in the whole series with Phoebe yelling- "Prue, get your astral ass back here!" - from "Just Harried."

Extremely enjoyable episode from start to finish. Also, at the end, we get a rare Charmed foreshadowing with the hint of trouble ahead for Piper and Leo.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (35)

    • Right after Paige finished the potion to blind the warlock she has her hands together, immediatly after they go to the next memory she has her hands on her hips.

    • When Phoebe is telling Paige about Piper's previous relationships, she says that before between Jeremy and Dan there was two bankers, a rock climber and a ghost. However, that is incorrect. Aside from the fact that "the rock climber" was a college Professor, Piper only dated one banker (in the episode Witch Trial). While we had seen her go out on dates in the episodes Dream Sorcerer and From Fear to Eternity with Jack and Lucus, they were both businessmen not bankers.

    • TRIVIA: In this episode, during the "flashbacks" that the girls visit, Prue's face is never shown - which may be because they had to re-shoot alot of the screens but likely has to do with the fact that Shannen "owns" her image.

    • When the Warlock catches Kit and kills her, she turns to her human form. However, when Leo and Katarina are explaining everything it is said that becoming human was a reward for her excellent service as a familiar. So wouldn't that mean that since she was killed before her work was recognized, that she had not been made human? Therefore, if never made human her form should have remained as a cat when killed.

    • During the return to the episode The Fourth Sister, Phoebe and Paige witness Leo searching for Kit in the chimney, then hide in a corner while Phoebe and Piper's past selves discuss Phoebe's preference for dangerous boys. In the original episode, after searching for Kit, Leo leaves the Manor, and this scene is immediately followed by Leo hanging flyers in the street, the dialogue about dangerous boys not being part of the original episode.

    • How come Phoebe figures out only now that Kit was their familiar? Kit came to the Charmed Ones' house the day they became witches, she had a medallion with the triquetra (the Charmed Ones' symbol, no less!) on her neck even before she came to them, she hissed at evil beings in Deja Vu All Over Again (Piper was aware of her hissing at the evil in They're Everywhere), in Pre-witched the dead witch refers to her former cat as "my familiar, a feline called Shadow" and Phoebe herself compares Kit to Shadow saying she would never undress in front of Kit again. There were enough clues, and Phoebe realizes only now Kit is their familiar, when Paige refers to Kit as "a familiar cat".

    • One of the flashes that is shown is when Leo and Piper kiss for the first time. When the flash ends we see Piper and Leo with the doctor smiling and looking at each other. Why should Leo be smiling and looking at Piper that way? If you remember the original scene the "truth" spell had been cast and even at the end of the episode Leo goes to Quake to talk with Piper because he doesn't remember anything. So how is it possible that both of them remember the moment if Leo had forgotten the moment because of the spell?

    • GOOF: During the "Look Who's Barking" flashback, when Piper says "I wish everyone would stop telling me to relax." She looks back towards where Leo just left from. In the actual episode, she looks at DogPrue.

    • TRIVIA: This is the only episode ever to feature all four of the Charmed Ones (although Prue's face is never shown) and their family. The family included Patty, Victor, Penny, Leo, Wyatt, and Kit, the Charmed Ones' cat. One could also count Cole as family, seeing how he was married to Phoebe at one point. The only family members not featured are Chris, Coop, and Henry, none of which had been introduced yet.

    • During the scene of the flashback where Piper is dancing on the bar, the song is different than in the original episode Coyote Piper - EMF's Unbelievable. This scene also does not really apply either since Piper was possessed and Leo was not even there.

    • In the scene where Leo is about to propose to Piper, Phoebe and Paige orb into the back door in the bathroom with just a toilet. In the season 2 episode "Chick Flick" Bloody Mary comes out the same door and you can clearly see a hallway not a extra part of the bathroom.

    • Why would Piper and Leo remember the episode Look Who's Barking? He was afraid of Prue only, that is not a memorable time for them as a couple.

    • When in the flashback of the episode "Love Hurts" Phoebe and Paige are kneeling on the floor, with Paige on the left, and Phoebe on the right, but when they flash into the flashback of the episode "Once Upon a Time" Phoebe is on the left, and Paige is on the right.

    • If the memory of when Piper and Leo first met was set inside, then why were Paige, Phoebe, and the warlock brought outside the house?

    • During "the wedding scene" everyone was looking at Prue leave which was right next to Paige and Phoebe (who were looking out to see what was going on) so why did no one see them looking out?

    • In the flashback when Phoebe and Paige are in the attic from a scene in "Bride and Gloom" they see that while Past Phoebe and Past Piper are torturing Danatalian, a dark priestess, Leo orbs in. However, in the flashback, he says "Piper, we need to talk" when orbing in, when in the original, he said "I just couldn't leave like that, Piper".

    • When Phoebe and Paige flash back to the memory of Piper's wedding, the original episode Just Harried was aired with Phoebe accidentally stepping on Piper's dress when she attempts to walk away after saying that the wedding is off. However, in Cat House the flashback did not show Phoebe standing on Piper's dress.

    • When Phoebe and Paige flash back to Piper's wedding and get there in time to see Prue's astral self ride out on a motorcycle with TJ, a fling, and pulling most of the decorations with them (caught in the wheels), Piper leaves as she did in the original episode Just Harried. However, in the original episode, Leo does not say to Phoebe "What just happened?" after Piper says the wedding is off, and Phoebe never answers with "Oh, come here, sweetie".

    • In the flashback where Piper heals Leo, Leo then orbs himself & Piper out, but in the original episode (Love Hurts), hadn't they switched powers? Also, in the episode, it cut to them coming down the stairs.

    • When Paige wants to stay and listen to Leo propose to Piper, Phoebe says that she already knows how it ends. This indicates that Piper says yes. However, the first time Leo proposed Piper shot him down, and it was at least another few months before their engagement was official.

Although Phoebe meant that Paige knows that Piper and Leo are married in the present.

    • In the flashback to the wedding, when the cake falls the figures land a bit away from it, but in the season 3 episode Just Harried when the cake fell, the figures landed underneath the cake.

    • When Paige and Phoebe go back to when Piper and Phoebe were evil, because of a spell in the season 3 episode Bride and Groom, Paige is surprised that Phoebe was a blonde, but her hair was that same color when they first met, so why was she surprised?

    • TRIVIA: Katrina's house looks exactly like the house of David Silver's on Beverly Hills, 90210, which was not only another Aaron Spelling production but starred Shannen Doherty.

    • TRIVIA: We learn that Kit was the Charmed Ones' familiar, and ran away after Paige became one of the Charmed Ones, and that Kit, the cat is now Katrina, a human.

    • Phoebe tells Paige that Piper was engaged but Piper was never engaged to Jeremy. She told Phoebe in the pilot episode that she thought Jeremy might be "the one" but she was never engaged to him.

    • Wouldn't Piper or Leo want to tell the memory of when Wyatt was born?

    • When Phoebe goes into the shower, she accidently catches Piper and Leo there. Yet while looking at Piper and Leo, it's fairly obvious that they are present-day Piper and Leo.

    • In the flashback of Piper and Leo's shower scene, why was the door partially open? When the original episode aired, the door was completely closed. Who takes a shower with their spouse and leaves the door open, yet doesn't want to be interrupted?

    • When Phoebe and Paige pop into the attic just before Dantalian shows up they are talking pretty loud. When Dantalian comes past Piper and Phoebe come from around the corner of the attic. Don't they hear Phoebe and Paige talking?

    • When Kit runs into the bathroom while Piper and Leo are showering, Phoebe runs after her to bring her out, but not only does she come out without her, but she also closes the door of the bathroom, trapping Kit inside.

    • In the beginning, when the warlock slashes Katrina, the gash that appears from the slash appears about an inch above where the knife touched her neck. In other words, the warlock cut Katrina, but she was hurt in a different place (about an inch above on the neck).

    • When Paige is talking to Katrina, the necklace that she was wearing was not around her neck, but when she orbs in to help Phoebe in the fight, her necklace is back but her jacket is not (she left it behind).

    • This is the first time that the cabinet filled with the couple's wedding memorabalia has been shown. Would they really leave it out like that? Since the many times stuff downstairs gets destroyed by powers gone awry, the demon-attack-of-the-week, etc.?

    • Piper says she "shattered" Leo, but as we see in the flashback immediately preceding her statement, it was Phoebe who did so - Piper just froze him. At best she was just an accomplice to him being shattered.

    • The American flag we see in the kitchen on the refrigerator during the bridal party sequence (as Paige is making her potion) wasn't there originally two years ago.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Phoebe (after stabbing the warlock): What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?

    • Leo: Piper, what are you doing? You can't freeze the shrink, we're on the clock!
Piper: Forget the clock we are gonna need a calender cause this is gonna take months.

    • Phoebe: Well, if it makes you feel any better, you didn't miss much with me. I'm pretty much the exact same person I was back then.
      Paige: Yeah, right.
Phoebe: No, I'm serious. I mean, I have a job now and that's good. But, uh, you know, I'm still living at home, I'm still single. The only real difference is
that I'm five years older. I need to use more expensive night cream.

    • (After the spell has been reversed and back to present day. Leo, Paige, Phoebe, and Human Kit are sitting on the couch. Piper walks in.)
Piper (to Human Kit): Are you sure I can't get you anything? Coffee, tea, a saucer of milk?

    • Piper: Ha! Co-dependent. Thank you.
Leo: Okay. So what? Maybe I am. But you want to talk co-dependent? Ask her about her damn sisters. They're frickin' inseparable. The power of three.
(Piper gives Leo a shocked look)
Shrink: Um....I think we should go back to talking about some of your more... positive memories.

    • (Paige and Phoebe orb in)
Warlock(standing over the Kit, just after stabbing her): Looks like curiosity just killed your cat.

    • (Phoebe and Paige just finished their conversation as Piper and Leo enter the house in a middle of a very heated argument)
Piper's voice: That is not what happened and you know it.
Leo's voice: That's exactly what happened and it's not the first time it's happened, either.
Piper's voice: What is that supposed to mean?
Leo's voice: You know what? Forget it, Piper.
(Phoebe and Paige hear everything and head for the hallway)
Piper's voice: Don't walk away from me! Leo. Leo!
(cut to Leo, who is walking down while Piper follows him)
Piper: I am talking to you!
Leo: I'm tired of you mocking me, especially in front of our friends.
(Phoebe and Paige appear besides them)
Piper: Oh! I resent that. I don't mock you.
Leo: You always mock me. I work my butt off around here, I quit my job, I quit my career, so you wouldn't have to. And I get no respect for it. None.
Piper: I never asked you to give up your career.
      Leo: The hell you didn't!
Piper: You're right, I didn't! (to Phoebe and Paige) Did I?!
Leo: Oh, right, turn to them for support like you always do.
Piper: Oh, what, so now you have a problem with them too?
Leo: No, I have a problem with you!
(He turns away from Piper and walks into the bedroom)
Piper: Leo, don't you dare walk away from me again. (Leo slams the door on Piper) I mean it! (points her finger and accidently blows up the door and flinches)
(Everyone is shocked at the damage)
      Phoebe: Whoa.

    • Phoebe: Wait a minute. You just said something.
Paige: I did? Was it smart?

    • Phoebe: I was under a spell. Evil
      Paige: Evil? You were blonde!

    • Piper (at the doctor's office thinking about the time she danced on a table at P3): Don't ask, next memory.

    • Piper (ranting skywards, towards the unseen Elders): I bet you guys think this is real funny, don't you? Haven't you taken enough from me? You have to send trolls to kick me when I'm down? I'm a good person. I'm a good witch. And dammit, I would have made a great wife, and how dare you take that from me? I deserve, no, you know what? I demand that you send him back to me. you hear me? Right now. I'm going to stand in this very spot, until you send Leo back to me.
Piper looks up to the sky but no one comes.

    • Leo (about Piper): I work, she says I'm never around. I quit my job, she says I'm around too much.

    • Phoebe (to Paige, as dog-Prue runs by): Well, you always said you wanted to meet Prue!

    • Leo: Piper, what are you doing? You can't freeze the shrink, we're on the clock!!

    • Shrink: Now when you say she shattered you....
      Piper: Metaphorically
