Season 7 Episode 4

Aired Sunday 8:00 PM Oct 03, 2004 on The WB

  • Trivia

    • TRIVIA: Leo does not orb in this episode.

    • During the scene where old Paige orbs both sisters back to the attic, only seconds pass where Piper and Leo are talking to Paige, however Phoebe declares that she cannot find a reversal spell anywhere in the book. Are we to believe that she has looked over the many hundreds of pages in this time?

    • Piper uses a Motorola i830 in this episode.

    • When Sheridan is talking to Darryl at the police station, she momentarily looks at the camera.

    • In the opening scene when Leo and Piper are talking, it is dark in the attic. Later an elder is shown and the attic is still in darkness. When the creature head appears and the end of the attic is shown, it's no longer dark. How is it possible?

    • TRIVIA: This is the first episode for Agent Kyle Brody, who will remain in the show until the episode Charmageddon.

    • TRIVIA: This is the first and only episode to show Piper both blow up and freeze an object like the Source did in the episode "Charmed and Dangerous" after he used the Hollow to steal her powers. However he did it in one motion (when a vase exploded and quickly froze itself) but she does each action seperately.

    • TRIVIA: This is one of ten episodes with "Charmed" in the title.

    • TRIVIA: The set used for the hallways of the museum was also used for Buckland's Auction House in seasons 1 and 2.

    • Near the end of the episode, when the camera looks at Leo asleep with Chris and Wyatt, he has nothing on his stomach. Next shot of him and the kids, he has a book on his stomach.

    • When Paige stabs the pirate with the sword, it clearly is shown passing through his armpit.

    • Laser Beam Dance - Just wanted to point out that since the laser beams are frozen, even breaking them in the middle won't affect the sensors because both ends of the laser will still be there (no signal change on the sensors since the beam is frozen, just a big hole in the middle of the beam) So basically Phoebe could have just walked to the display box without worrying about the effect on the lasers. Course it wouldn't have looked as cool.

    • Just before Piper freezes Inspector Sheridan, the Inspector says "Look, if you think that this is going to get me off --" then is frozen. When she gets unfrozen, she says "-- Get me off your tail." She repeats the same part over.

    • In previous episodes when the sisters are in the attic, and outside the window is shown, it's a neighborhood of Victorian homes similar to the Halliwell's home. However, in this episode, white houses, the stereotypical San Fransisco dwellings, are shown.

    • In the last part of Phoebe's "Mission Impossible" break in, she clearly steps on one of the lasers

    • How did Sheridan recover the blood from Piper's bedroom? Previously she just walked in and got knocked out right away, then woke up down on the couch. She never had a chance to get anything in Piper's room, but here that's where she said she got the blood sample from.

    • Why can't Paige just orb out with Brenda?

    • If the parrot was a ghost (as we see at the end when it dissolves with the pirates) and could only travel at night by fog, then how did it get to the manor in the daytime?

    • Old Paige's shoes change when the rest of her clothing doesn't - originally Paige was wearing high-heeled pumps.

  • Quotes

    • (Piper, carrying a book, walks toward Paige who's squinting through bottles of ingredients, trying to make out their contents)
Piper: I think I found something.
      Paige: Huh?!
Piper: I said I think I found something. What're you deaf now too?

    • (Paige's sight seems to be fading as she looks through the BoS)
Piper: You need glasses there ma'am?
Paige: No! I'm just a little woozy.

    • Phoebe: What am I gonna tell him? We're robbing a museum.

    • Paige: Do I look like a ma'am to you?
      Piper: Morning, sunshine.
Paige: I was just at Magic School taking Wyatt to the nursery, he's fine I might add, and a student bumped into me and said, "Excuse me..."
Piper: A kid with manners? Alert the authorities.
Paige: You didn't let me finish. He said, "Excuse me, ma'am." Do I look like a ma'am?

    • Paige: This seems like a job for the young kick ass Charmed Ones!

    • Paige: Sorry, I don't speak pirate, matey.

    • Leo: You'll think I'm crazy.
Piper: I already think you're crazy.

    • Paige: I am far too young to be old!

    • Paige: You're gonna go deaf first. Remember, you're the older sister.
Piper: Yeah, I love you too.

    • Piper: Oh, just you know...pirates.
Phoebe: Pirates? You mean like hot Johnny Depp pirates?
      Piper: Yeah...probably not.

    • Phoebe: Yo ho hello!
Piper: Did you just call me a ho?

    • Pirate's Parrot: Shiver me witches. Shiver me witches.
Piper: Oh you have got to be kidding me!

    • Phoebe: If we pull this off, Paige owes me Prada.
Piper: And babysitting for a year.

    • Piper: Who are you?
      Brody: Someone that you owe.

  • Notes

    • International Titles: Italy: Il calice della vita (The Chalice of Life) Germany: Der Fluch der Piraten (The Curse of the Pirates) France: La malédiction du pirate (The Curse of the Pirate)

    • The set used to do the whole museum's robbery is used later in the season 8 episode Mr & Mrs Witch. It's used in the scene when Billie's father is at the convention and when Piper poses as the boy confesses.

    • Kerr Smith originally auditioned for the role of Andy Trudeau right back in 1998.

  • Allusions

    • Black Jack: God? Afraid not. You'll have to settle for Captain Black Jack Cutting.
      Parrot: Aye-yae, Captain.
Black Jack: Don't you just love clichés?

This is a reference to the common cliché that usually the captain has a parrot with him that can talk and that is a captain's "best friend".

    • The scene where Phoebe is trying to steal the Chalice from the museum is similar to the scene done by actress Catherine Zeta-Jones for the movie "Entrapment".

    • Title: Charrrmed!

This is a reference to a pirate's common saying of "Arrr".

    • Phoebe (when first told about the pirates): Oooo! Any cute Johnny Depp pirates?

This is a reference to the 2003 Disney movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl", starring Johnny Depp as swashbuckler Captain Jack Sparrow. The popular film was later followed by 2 sequels "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" in 2006 and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" in 2007.
