Phoebe tries to convince Darryl Morris to hire her as a psychic to help the police solve their cases. She notices an abandoned baby named Matthew and how bad the policemen handle him. Picking him up, she has a premonition of him and his dad being chased by a ghost. She convinces Darryl to let her take him to the mansion. At the house, Phoebe and Piper try to get Matthew to sleep when Prue walks in. If she finishes her presentation at the auction house, she'll get to go to New York with Jack. They agree to leave Matthew with Piper so Prue can go buy stuff and Phoebe can identify the baby's father.
After identifying the man she saw in the vision, Phoebe sends the drawing to Prue. Prue recognizes him as the heir of a rich family whose father, brother and uncle all died less than a year ago. Just after that, the man gets killed for not wanting to tell the ghost where the baby is. When Piper and Phoebe get there, the man's mother and wife don't want to say anything to them. At the manor, the three sisters are struggling to take care of the baby, but Piper discovers that Dan is good with him.
They learn that the ghost is an ex-chauffeur of the family. He was caught having an affair with his boss's wife (baby Matthew's grandmother). It turs out that grandma killed her lover and buried him in the backyard under a tree that was special to them. Her ex-lover's ghost vowed to haunt her family until the end of time, killing each male member as revenge.
The sisters finally find out that in order to vanquish the ghost, they have to either put a spell on his bones or kill object of his rage, the grandmother. When they get there, Piper tries to keep her alive while Prue and Phoebe get the job done with the remains. When they're almost finished, the ghost notices and buries his bones again with his power. They don't want to kill the grandmother, but feeling very guilty, she decides to jump off the balcony. Once she dies, the ghost goes back to hell.
The baby goes back to his mother and Phoebe realizes what a great mother she'll be later. Prue, who couldn't do the presentation, lets Jack go to New York alone. He feels guilty, though, so he doesn't go either.
