Season 3 Episode 1

The Honeymoon's Over

Aired Sunday 8:00 PM Oct 05, 2000 on The WB

  • Trivia

    • When Phoebe kicks at Cole, he grabs her leg and holds it, then Phoebe's leg changes elevation, depending on who's talking.

    • When Phoebe is in the living room discussing the Emilio situation, she says that Cole was wonderful in court yesterday. However, a little while later when Cole is talking to Darryl, he says that he let a killer go today. He also mentions that Darryl had called the sisters last night, confirming that it was all the same day. So which was it?

    • Why does Prue sound so surprised when she says it is the judge, after Piper freezes the room? They were already pretty sure about that, having suspected him in the previous scene.

    • If Balthazor is such an almighty, well-known demon, who has been recognized in his human form by other demons on multiple occasions, why didn't The Demon Judge (a.k.a Free Willy) know who he was when he sent Emilio after him?

    • In this episode, Phoebe has a premonition of Cole being attacked by Emilio. Why is it that considering all the contact the two have in the following couple months, she never has another premonition indicating his true identity? This episode clearly shows that neither Cole nor the Triad has done anything to shield him from her premonitions?

    • When Prue accidentally attacks Phoebe in the attic, she apologizes and says that she is on edge because of the Triad being after them. How would Prue even know that? In the previous episode Be Careful What You Witch For, the Genie referred to them as "the Council". Not to mention, that there were more than three of them, which would make it a little hard for Prue to connect them to being the Triad, since that in itself means three!

    • How come Cole knew to freeze in the courtroom? He had no previous knowledge of the plan so he should have been confused by everyone else continuing to talk, not to mention that he did not know evil was granted immunity from the freezing so why would it occur to him that in the brief second that he may have noticed she was trying to freeze the room, that he should act frozen? Wouldn't he think he would freeze naturally?

    • Even though time moves differently up there, why wouldn't Leo be paying closer attention? He is a Whitelighter to all of the sisters, isn't he? Seems a little irresponsible that since Piper was with him that he completely forgot about Prue and Phoebe! Could that have been the Elders' problem with him doing his job and what impact his relationship with Piper would have on it?

    • TRIVIA: This is not the first time Phoebe has been attracted to the enemy. She dated Rex an undercover Warlock in season one and Anton the Warlock in her past life.

    • The fourth earring on Phoebe's left ear keeps disappearing and reappearing between scenes.

    • Why didn't Prue and Phoebe just call for Leo like they had in the past when they wanted him?

    • TRIVIA: In this episode, Piper reveals that a month has passed since the season 2 finale Be Careful What You Witch For and that it is now October.

    • TRIVIA: The Barenaked Ladies play the song Pinch Me from their album Maroon.

    • TRIVIA: In this episode Piper and Leo get engaged.

    • TRIVIA: Phoebe now has the power of levitation. This was foreseen in the season 2 episode Morality Bites when the girls traveled into the future.

    • This episode marks the first appearance of Julian McMahon as Cole and he has been added to the opening credits.

    • When Cole gives Phoebe his number, he puts it in her book. You can see it come out of it. At the next shot you don't see the card and at the next you see it again.

    • When Piper freezes the courtroom, Leo's head is turned to the side, but when the girls come back from the judge's chambers, his head is facing forward.

  • Quotes

    • (Prue attempts to move a wooden stick through the Guardian's chest, it passes through him)
Phoebe: I thought you said Guardians were like Vampires?
Prue: I may have misinterpreted that...

    • Cole: Why did you call the Halliwells last night?
      Darryl: What?
Cole: While you were on stakeout, at 2:17 a.m., according to the phone company.
Darryl: You checked up on me?
      Cole: Standard procedure, inspector.
Darryl: Gee, and here I thought we were on the same side...

    • (Cole sneaks up behind Phoebe and she almost kicks him)
      Phoebe: Cole.
      Cole: Hi. How's it going?
Phoebe: Wow, is this embarrassing... I'm...
Cole: It's okay. I'm okay. Nice calf.
Phoebe: Thanks. Can I have it back?

    • Cole: Ladies, my name's Cole Turner. I'm the assistant district attorney assigned to this case. I was wondering if either of you saw what happened here?
Phoebe (raising her arm, to answer): I did.

    • Cole: I think we're in good shape except for the... what'd you call the murder weapon? Aah-THEM-ee?
Phoebe: Athame. It's a ceremonial knife used by... um, lots of different crazy people.

    • Phoebe (to Piper): I didn't even really notice that you were gone, actually.
      Prue: Liar.

    • Phoebe: This was all your idea, you know.
Prue: Okay, well, so sue me.

    • Phoebe: What do we do?
      Prue: We run.

    • Piper: Okay. So why'd you do that to your hair?
Phoebe: Because I wanted to change my luck. Scoot!

    • Leo: You hate the idea.
Piper:'s not exactly Cinderella, is it?

    • Piper: I guess time moves a little bit differently up there.
Prue: Yeah, well, it doesn't keep your head from being bitten off down here.
Piper: Are you talking about demons?
Prue: Oh, no. Something so much worse than demons. Sisters.

    • Phoebe: I'm nervous.
Prue: Oh, you know, witches and trials. It's that whole Salem thing.

    • Phoebe (to Prue about Piper): Then why hasn't she contacted us? I mean, she has to know that we're worried about her. She also has to know that she's left us one sister short in the power of three. (They walk downstairs) So, while she is up romping around the clouds with Leo, we've got our wiccan butts flapping around in the wind here. I mean, we are very lucky, Prue, that we have not been attacked yet.
(Prue stops at the end of the stairs)
Prue: No. It has absolutely nothing to do with luck. The triad is up to something. We just don't know what it is yet.
Phoebe: That's exactly my point. Piper knows this. So where the hell is she?
Prue: Well, that's why I've been studying the book.
Phoebe: Prue, studying the book is not going to do it. We're screwed without Piper and you know this. Why aren't you worried?
Prue: I am worried. Alright? I am scared that you're right, that we're never going to see her again, and not because she doesn't want to come back, but because they won't let her. Because she broke one too many rules. (The phone rings)
Phoebe: Who's calling us at 2 in the morning? (Prue goes to answer it as Phoebe follows)

    • The girls are getting ready to blow out the door to vanquish the demons.
Prue: Alright the best defence is a good offence. Are you ready?
      Piper: No.
      Prue: Yeah you're ready.
      Piper: No,no.
Prue: On three. One, two. (Phoebe grabs her hand) Don't hold my hand. One, two, three.
      (She blows out the door.)

    • Prue (about the demons): Can't you just freeze them?
Piper: No,once they're immune to it they stay that way. That's why it's called immunity.

    • Prue (as demons are attacking): Okay any mass vanquishing spells?
Phoebe: You're the one who's been studying the book.
Prue: Why are you picking on me?
Phoebe: Because I'm scared and we're outnumbered.

    • (Phoebe is rushing down the stairs at P3 after seeing Cole die in a premonition)
Phoebe: I have got to get a cell phone. Prue, I had a premonition of Emilio carving that rune into Cole's forehead.
Prue: Did you see where it happens?
Phoebe: No just some parking lot somewhere.
Piper: Who's Cole? (to Phoebe) What did you do to your hair?
Phoebe: I'm sorry do I know you?

    • After Piper leaves the house in a bad mood.
Phoebe (about Piper): Okay what was that all about? I didn't even get to bitch at her.
      Prue: Yeah neither did I.

    • Phoebe: If Piper ever comes back, i'm going to kill her.

    • Piper: Leo, this isn't supposed to be this way. Marriage shouldn't be a solution to a problem or a band aid, it's supposed to be about love and about two people who love each other so much they want to spend the rest of their lives together.

    • Leo (talking to his mirror image): I look at you, and I think how lucky I am. I mean, I can't stop looking at you. You're my dream come true. You're my raison d'être. Every time I see you, I love you even more. You're so beautiful. You're so special. I can't imagine my life without you. (Piper comes in) Piper!
Piper: Leo, who are you talking to?
Leo: Me? Uh, nobody, just myself, you know.
Piper: Yourself? You were telling yourself how much you love you?

    • Piper (talking about going up to Elderland): Just feelings mostly. Good ones. Peaceful and whole and then it all went to crap when they said Leo and I had to stop seeing each other. Or else.

    • Prue (talking about Cole): See something you like, sis?
Phoebe: Maybe, or maybe it's just nice to run into someone that's not a college boy. More years, less hormones.
Prue: Yeah, not a bad butt, either.

    • (Phoebe and Prue stop a crime with their powers and must be witnesses)
Darryl: All you have to do is get your stories straight.
Phoebe: You mean get our lies straight.
