During the "It's a Wonderful Life" scene as Norm turns back to the bar talking about his days as an accountant, his beer switches hands between camera shots.
Sam: Hey Carla. I got a present for Rebecca. Carla: I see you picked up a little package for yourself, too. Sam: Hey, why not? I've been a good boy, and it's just what I asked for.
Carla: Ah, well don't feel bad Sam. Just because everybody else got her something. The pretzel salesman, the beer distributor, the relief bartender, the guy she fired after one day. Sam: Yeah, yeah. Wait a minute though. All those guys were just trying to get her into the sack. Carla gives Sam a stare. Sam: I've got some shopping to do!!
This is the first episode that Woody does the "Cheers is filmed before a live studio audience" announcement at the start of the episode.
When it cuts to credits, Woody says, "God bless us, everyone." This is a reference to the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, first published in 1843. This was, of course, Tiny Tim's line.
In the teaser scene, the movie It's a Wonderful Life is playing on the TV. This movie was released in 1946. It starred James Stewart and has become such a classic that it's traditionally shown every December as a television event for the whole family.
