Diane: I sold out womankind for a trip to Bermuda.
Sam: Come on, don't feel so bad. Most people would have done it for the dry cleaning.
Cliff: None of the girls have what I'm looking for, Normy.
Norm: What's that?
Cliff: Low standards.
Diane: I love being entered in degrading female contests.
Carla: Me too, but I'm always pregnant.
Coach: What can I do for you, Norm?
Norm: I am going to need something to kill time before my second beer. How about a first one?
Diane: What kind of a ninny would let herself be entered in a contest like that?
Carla: This kind
Diane: That's me!
Carla: Takes guts to admit it.
This episode was filmed on January 17, 1983.
NBC rebroadcast this episode on July 14, 1983.
"Cheers is filmed before a live studio audience" is announced by John Ratzenberger.
The script for this episode was based on an unproduced 1979 outline for an episode of the series Taxi. The outline, called "Who Will Be Miss Taxi?", was written by David Lloyd. At the time this episode was produced, Lloyd was an executive story consultant on Cheers.
Carla would later compete in the Miss Boston Barmaid contest herself, and be fooled into believing that Cliff is one of the judges.
