A wonderful episode to start a new season. Six months after the previous episode, Diane hasn't been to the bar (for reasons not clear to the others) and Sam has fallen off the wagon. It's a shock to see Sam as a drunk, but Ted Danson must have enjoyed the opportunity, and it shows. The first part of the episode belongs to Nicholas Colasanto as Coach. His worries about Sam's condition seem realistic, his attempts to bring back Diane are hilarious. What makes this episode great is that it mixes comedy with drama without becoming too sweet or sentimental. And, of course, there's Dr. Frasier Crane. He shows up in several shots without being officially introduced. We've now known Kelsey Grammer in that role for decades, but it's fun to spot him whereas people at the first broadcast probably didn't even notice him.
