We finally found out who Sam's telephone proposal at the end of the last episode was to - Diane! But Diane fears that Sam is meerely on the rebound after breaking up with Janet, so asks him to repeat the proposal in a more romantic occasion, but when he does (on a boat), she refuses, causing Sam to make her walk the plank. what a great episode. sam takes diane out on his boat and proposes to her whereupon she rejects him hard. he then tells her to either jump out or he will throw her out to which point she doesn't believe him. it's only until he gets up that she does jump out. sam eventually lets her back into the boat but takes the dinghy to go home leaving diane on the boat. back at cheers, sam tells frasier that he plans on taking the boat back out and leaves to do so. diane comes running in looking for sam because she wants to get back with him. frasier tells her that sam is back on the boat so she goes out there. sam then comes back in saying that he rented the boat out to someone else. great installment.moreless

    • Diane: In that case may I suggest you propose again. I assure you this time I will accept your proposal.
Sam: Fine. I propose you step in front of a speeding bus. From now on I'm dedicating myself to life, liberty, and the pursuit of every woman in Boston except you.

    • Diane: Oh, Frasier, please tell me where Sam is. I have to talk with him.
Frasier: Diane, in light of your disposal of him last night I think it's better he be left alone right now.
Diane: That poor man. Can you imagine how he must feel?
      Frasier: Gee, I'll try.

    • Sam: I'm fine everybody. I just don't want to talk about that's all. (Whispers to Frasier) Can I talk to you just for a minute?

    • (Diane says no to Sam's proposal.)
Sam: Seems to me you have two choices. One--I can throw you in, or two--you can jump in.

    • Norm: Woody, are you in pain, buddy?
Woody: No, I was just thinkin'.
Norm: Yeah, well, the first time's always the worst.

    • Cliff: Boy oh boy, I wouldn't mind being a barnacle on the rudder of Sam's sailboat. If you know what I mean?
Carla: I'm sure you're be better lookin' but would you be happier?

    • Woody: Hi, Mr. Peterson. What's the story?
Norm: Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. Boy gets another beer.
