Chelsea Tales

Show Summary

Chelsea Tales is a documentary series that originally aired on BBC Two. This series consists of six weekly episodes broadcast on Wednesday night, beginning on September 10, 2003. These one-hour episodes explore the people living in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, a borough in west London. The series describes this borough as the most densely populated area in the United Kingdom, with a population of about 160,000 according to the 2001 census. The RBKC is the second wealthiest borough after Westminster based on the number of people earning more than ¬£60,000 per year, and has the greatest number of people working in the financial sector. The series displays Chelsea as a haven for 19th century artists during the Victorian era and also the bohemian quarter of London during the 1960s, which is not readily apparent in Chelsea today. Kensington is the most affluent area of the RBKC and is inhabited by financiers and celebrities with houses routinely selling for millions of pounds.
