Chez Helene

Show Summary

Chez Helene was a children's television program that ran from 1959 until 1973. Produced and broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel, Chez Helene was essentially an effort to expose the English-speaking children of Canada to the French language. Young actresses Helene Baillargeon and Madeleine Kronby engaged in numerous adventures alongside their mouse puppet Suzie. Suzie was the only character on the show to speak entirely in English, while Helene and Madeleine would speak in both French and English in order to teach children the French language.
