Casey has to decide if he should report that a cop's son is responsible for a drunk car accident that left a teen paralyzed. Meanwhile Severide is diagnosed with a fractured vertebra and Mills has trouble sharing his time between his mother and the job.
When Dawson faces suspension the girl she saved decides to help her. Detective Voight does everything he can to make Casey retract his statement. A dangerous action during an apartment fire may change Casey's situation.
Chief Boden takes action to try to help a boy who was seen at two fires previouly, one firefighter is on medical leave after an accident at a fire and Casey and Dawson are gradually seeing each other.
Severide's injury gets worse, an abusive mother makes terrible decision and a train accident takes life of a young person.
Severide seeks an old friend's help with his injury, a disciplinary action is taken against Dawson and Casey has to deal with the aftermath of opposing Detective Voight.

Severide feels compelled to help a man he saved from a car accident. Casey and Boden struggle to deal with the orders from Jones' father. A call to duty affects the firehouse.
Cruz needs to make a choice after the result of the death of a young girl in a drive by shooting. Meanwhile there is a lot of sexual tension between Casey and Dawson and they try very hard to not act on it. Shay resigns from station 51.

Dawson takes chances at the scene of a hazardous spill and the fallout impacts her relationship with Casey. Severeide's new bride reveals more of her history. Mills faces retaliation from the mob father of a teen who dies under his care.
Severide's old friend arrives, hoping for a second chance with the Chicago Fire Department. Meanwhile, Mills tries to regain his active squad status, Mouch confronts his fear about meeting his child, and Brett and Dawson set out to have a big night out.
Mouch learns he may be a father. Dawson and Casey agree to take a break. The new Chief makes a tactical error and tries to put the blame on Casey. But Casey finds and unlikely ally in the case against him.
Severide returns to the squad, but maybe too soon. Mills seeks out his paternal family while dealing with a mysterious health issue of his own. Herman seeks new partners in the bar. Dawson prepares to join a new house as a firefighter and Casey pops the question.
Leslie Shay's sister visits to get some closure on her Shay's death and the investigation into her arson continues
Severide and Dawson conduct their own investigation into the fire that killed Shay. Casey and crew come to the rescue of one of their own. Mills takes a personal interest in a victim of domestic violence. Bowden grows closer to his father.
