Dr. Watters' son is found dead in his apartment and Phillip must accept the fact that he committed suicide. Dr. Austin brings her daughter to the hospital and she becomes fascinated with the blood and guts aspects of her mother's work. Dr. Catera becomes uncomfortable with Dr. McNeil's romantic pursuits, until she watches one of her patients (who is in much the same situation).

Recurring Role |
Molly Arkin, who plays Clementine, is Adam Arkin's daughter.
The episode title, "Bridge Over Troubled Watters", is a play of words on the title of a Simon and Garfunkel song, by more or less of the same name. Dr. Phillip Watters name was substituted for the word "waters".
When Sara and Clementine were talking, they made mention of the Hanson brothers - a boy band whose members were Texan brothers. They were popular in 1998.
