All of the departing doctors except Diane Grad were fired by the new board Chairman Jeffrey Geiger. Dr. Grad resigned in support of her husband.
Chicago Hope house counsel Stu Brickman inexplicably did not appear in court to represent the hospital.
Judge Aldrich had previously retired from the bench, and then briefly worked as house counsel of Chicago Hope before becoming seriously ill. Any one of those three facts would have precluded him from hearing this case.
