A long, long time this episode was my favourite one. A scrupless guy is deceiving insurances by causing bad looking accidents and then getting money from the real "victim".
One action fails and he causes a real bad accident. Two officers are involved, one dies. In CHiPs never one of the main cast passes away. So the Grim Reaper catches not Officer Baricza but his "partner" Steve. Never before a partner for a cruiser cop was seen and never after this episode. Very dangerous for a cop in L.A..
I like the main storyline with the stuntmen, abusing his abilities to "earn" money.
The second line is a sad one, seeing a young family suddenly without father and husband. Also the grief of the fellow officers. Im a bit sad that Steve never was remembered later in CHiPs. He was Bears partner and not a unnamed victim.
    Fazit: highly recommended episode

Christopher Stone and Dee Wallace appear together as pair. In real life they married only two years after this job.
Maybe CHiPs was the place they met first?moreless
