Why are these kids patroling a school? Shouldn't they be in school? Just what is the CHP trying to promote?
At the basketball game, isn't it unfair for Getraer to be an official?
The short kid isn't wearing his glasses during the basketball game...even though he wears them everywhere else.

Watch the screen after the line, "You're getting sweat up the nose, you idiot." As Ponch and Bobby turn the corner, you'll see a dark object briefly enter the upper left corner of the frame.
After the car hits the ladder and knocks it to the ground, it disappears from all future shots.
From CHiPs Online:
During the motorcycle street race, you'll notice many things don't match between shots. They switch from Long Beach to Daytona Speedway, the bikes are spread apart and then close together, and in some shots the bikes are leaning into turns while in others they are just cruising around.

When Kathy knocks on the woman's door looking for information on the drug dealer, she introduces Bruce as "Officer Nelson". Not yet, Kathy! He's still Cadet Nelson.
Ponch looks through binoculars at the guys breaking into cars. We see a typical binocular gobo. Anyone who has ever looked through a pair of binoculars knows that you see everything in a circle, not in that binocular view!
Keith Mitchell (Roland) is now known as Keith Coogan. He is the grandson of actor Jackie Coogan, a child actor discovered by Charlie Chaplin. In the 1930s he sued his mother and stepfather for the earnings he made as a child. By law he had no claim to it and was awarded only $126,000 of the $4 million he actually earned. It is he for whom the the Coogan Act (California's Child Actor's Bill) is named. The Coogan Act protects the earnings of child actors. Jackie Coogan is probably best remembered as playing Uncle Festus on The Addams Family.
Erik Estrada (Ponch) and Kathy Shower (Cindy) were briefly engaged in 1983.
We last saw actress Sallee Young (City Worker) in the episode "Head Over Heels". Coincidentally, Laura Branigan (Sarah) provided music for that same episode.
From CHiPs Online:
After Ponch and Bobby leave the sick kid's house, they're riding down a road. If you have a TV which lets you see the very edges of the picture (or a video-in card on your computer) you can see part of the shadow of the camera truck at the bottom of the screen.
From CHiPs Online:
When Bobby is taken from the dance, it's daylight. It was night when the dance started. Was he captured THAT long?

Notes from the director, Phil Bondelli:
Debbie Evans is a stuntwoman and the role of 'Sylvia' was her first (credited) acting job.
In the scene where the van hits the fire hydrant, there was not enough water pressure to wet the actors, so they had to use a fire hose to wet them in one of the cuts.
In the scene where the bad guys are breaking up the Angels' office, a freeze frame was used because the first time the actor threw the chair at the window, the window didn't break.
In the scene where the robot is first discovered, we created the illusion that the robot could move on dirt by placing it on plywood.
When the robot was supposed to be moved back into the van, the camera closed in on the back of the robot and then cut away, because in actuality it wouldn't fit in the van.
From CHiPs Online:
Adam Rich starred in Eight is Enough and his character has an "8" on his shirt.

Ponch's motor home was sold in the second season!
From CHiPs Online:
When the call comes in about Nicky having run away, the dispatcher says he's wearing a red T-shirt. His T-shirt is white and the shirt over that is a red and white plaid.
After they pull Nicky out of the water and his parents arrive, notice the car stopped up on the road. It wasn't there before.
During the crowd shots before Shake's airplane jump, it seems that the crowd shown is at an airshow and not at Shake's jump.
When Nicky was running in the sprint at the end of the show, they have him wearing a white T-shirt. In a closeup, he's wearing a red shirt.
At the time this episode was filmed, guest star Moon Unit Zappa (with her father Frank Zappa) had a hit song called "Valley Girl".
Robert Trujillo (Flippy) is an actual musician and became a member of Metallica in 2003.
From CHiPs Online:
At the beginning of the episode, during Ponch and Bobby's close-ups, you can tell their motorcycles are on a trailer. You can even hear the trailer hit the bumps.
Kyle Richards is a guest star in this episode. Her sister, Kim Richards, was a guest star in the previous episode. Their other sister, Kathy Richards Hilton, is the mother of Nicky and Paris Hilton.
