The Thrice Cream Man from the first season's titular episode makes a return cameo appearance in "The Fire Breather". Unfortunately, however, this episode also possibly marks his demise when Chowder's fiery breath melts him. (He has never appeared again since.)
Chowder seemed to have good handwriting in "The Broken Part", but he had bad handwriting again in "The Fire Breather".
In "The Fire Breather", Endive briefly appears without Panini by her side once again and no dialogues.
(Mung, Shnitzel, and Truffles walk through the back door at the circus and are blocked by a Lingon)
Mung: Hurry up, man! Let us in! Everyone's gonna die! (Lingon guard points to sign that says "PERFORMERS ONLY") (Shnitzel starts playing the accordion while Mun starts singing) Well, I'm singing and dancing just like a performer; Which means I must be a per-former! (Lingon points to bottom of sign that says: "LINGON PERFORMERS ONLY") That's not the first time a sign's held me back.
Mung: (in Spanish) (subtitles at bottom say: These are very hot)
Chowder: Asbestos fo me ala gala gala?
Mung: (singing) Oh, yep, I hope nothin' happens to my yeast--
Chowder: Hoopa! (smashes into Mung)
(Mung's moustache on fire)
Chowder: Uhh, Mung?
Mung: Don't interrupt me while I'm monologuing, Chowder.
Chowder: Mung!
Mung: What is it, Chowder?!
Chowder: You got a booger.
(Mung starts to scream with his moustache on fire and running around)
Mung: I'm a reasonable chef, right? Open-minded, considerate, empathetic?
Chowder: Old?
(about Chowder setting the kitchen on fire)
Mung: Chowder, look what you've done! Now the animators are gonna have to draw all this fire!
Chowder: Ya.... Living with dragons is gonna be AWESOME!
Chowder: Peppers... Via con dios.
Running Gag(s):
1) Mung tells Shnitzel that the crate is in the wrong spot, but he doesn't say where the right spot is. The Flying Flinger Lingons
Panini makes a cameo in the episode "The Fire Breather."
The first time the characters spoke with Spanish subtitles.
This episode was showed in widescreen.
At the beginning of "The Fire Breather," after Shnitzel sings the Mexican Hat Dance, he says "Olé!"
Credits: Shnitzel explains to Mung what Truffles said to him, and he begins to mimic Truffles' ranting. While mocking her, Truffles pops out in the front looking really angry. Mung leaves the kitchen and Truffles begins to beat up Shnitzel mercilessly.
Second time they had a song montage like this since The Broken Part. Jess Harnell reprises as the voice of the singer.
Introduced Foods and/or Recipes:
Diablo Peppers
Open-Mouth Barbershop Soufflé
Flying Flinger Lingon Giant Bread Bowl
Grizzle Fizzle Wheat Flour
Aged-21-Year Yeast
Both episodes involve Chowder running away.
Second appearance of the Thrice Cream Man.
Chowder's disastrous attempt to cool his mouth down with the Thrice Cream Man in "The Fire Breather" is a direct allusion to The Simpsons episode "The Mysterious Voyage of Homer", wherein after Homer burns his mouth eating Guatemalan chili peppers, he tries cooling his mouth down with ice cream, only to result in disaster when his hot mouth melts it.
The churros that Mung and Shnitzel buy in the circus are an actual Mexican dessert. It is a stick of flour coated with cinnamon and brown sugar, and filled with hot applesauce.
During the Fireheart song montage in "The Fire Breather", there's a quick snap of Chowder and Panini on top of a volcano. They are dressed similar to that of the famous "Beast Master" movies.
In "The Fire Breather," when Chowder returns home, he finds Mung with a new apprentice who resembles Droopy Dog. However when Mung sees Chowder, he kicks his new apprentice offscreen.
