  • Chowder breathes fire after swallowing a bunch of hot fiery peppers and Chowder wants to be in the circus with a group of acrobats

The Fire Breather: After Chowder swallows a bunch of hot fiery peppers, he discovers that whenever he opens his mouth, he starts to breathe fire. How can Chowder hope to help Mung Dall if he can't even speak when he needs to? I thought that this was an excellent episode of "Chowder". I thought it was better than the second pairing and the storyline was handled very well. Mung Daal, Truffles, and Snitzel singing to make their order with Mung Daal saying "Okay, everyone sing except Chowder" repeatedly was hilarious and Chowder opening his mouth and breathing fire was so freakin' hilarious. I also thought it was hilarious when Mung Daal said "Good thing I can hear the voiceover because I can't read this handwriting" when Chowder left a letter that he was going far away. Chowder living life as a fire breather with three dragons was a very funny idea as well. Chowder leaving the dragons once he can't breathe fire anymore is funny too. My score is only a bit low because I thought Mung Daal was kinda being a jerk for (almost) replacing Chowder with his new apprentice Powder. Like come on, that just showed that he didn't miss Chowder at all and didn't have an attempt to at least find him. Well, other than that little flaw, this was an excellent episode and I really enjoyed it. Overall, an excellent episode of "Chowder". 9.5/10

'The Flying Flinger Lingons: When a troop of acrobats come to Mung Dall's kitchen for an order, Chowder becomes impressed by their antics and starts to dream of life in the circus. Unfortunately, his focus on the Lingon's aerial feets are a distraction to his duties in the kitchen and a hindrance to Mung Dall. Will Chowder leave Mung Dall for a life in the Big Top? Well, this episode was good but it was nowhere near as good as the first pairing and the storyline wasn't that good. The only reason it has a GOOD rating is because it does offer some good laughs such as Mung Daal's corny joke at the end of the episode "That was a crummy ending... get it because of the bread" and some more. My score is low because those acrobats repeatedly saying "Hoopa" was getting pretty annoying and some of the parts were getting boring and dragged. Humor-wise, it was pretty good..... plot-wise, it was just okay. Overall, a good episode of "Chowder". 7.5/10moreless
  • The Fire Breather was good, but The Flying Flinger Lingons was terrible and really annoying!

    7.5
The Fire Breather: This one was one of the first Chowder episodes i seen, it was pretty good, made me laugh at some moments, best part was when Mung reads what Chowder wrote and also the parts with the dragons was pretty cool, him meeting them was really funny, i didnt like the singing part, poor Chowder didnt get to sing.

    Grade: A-

    The Flying Flinger Lingons:

One of the most terrible episodes of Chowder, it was really annoying of those guys saying ''Hoopa!'', and Chowder also, i think Chowder wanting to become one of those guys was just plain stupid and bad, the plot sucked, really boring and annoying in my option.

  • Both episode were sort of similar.

    8.0
"The Fire Breather" - Chowder, to save Marzipan City from burning down, ingests some dangerously hot peppers that make the consumer breathe fire every time he opens his mouth! That makes it just too hard to be a chef so Chowder decides to run away and live with dragons. Is that where he truly belongs? I liked this episode, but the ending makes Mung look like a bit of a jerk.

"The Flying Flinger Lingons" - Mung and the rest have been asked to bake this year's Bread Bowl for the Flying Flinger Lingon's circus! Chowder really like having the Lingon's around and gets so distracted by them he ruins the Bread Bowl! Everybody is furious with him, so he decides to go live with the Lingons this time and be a circus performer!

Is he destined to be a Lingon? This episode was just too similar to the "The Fire Breather". If the other one did not exist, I probably would have liked this one a lot more.

Either way, I recommend these episodes to all fans of Chowder.moreless
  • i did not like the flying flinger lingons but I did like the fire brather. By the way i wanted to make it a 7.2!

    7.5
i did not like the flying flinger lingons but I did like the fire brather. that is all i have to say. It was cool. You know, uh ..., uh ..., I ... think ... it was pretty good but not perfect. You know what I mean. Plus ... I meant to give this 72/38 episode a 7.2!!!!!! I just cant come up with 100 words for this review but if I had to rate it out of 5 stars I would rate it ***1/2 which is the same thing as 3 and a half stars. Well that is it.moreless
  • I meant to give it a 5.9! By the way, I expected better.

    5.5
Fire Breather: A little pointless at the start, because Mung makes the most flammable and spiciest dish, if it's so hot and start a fire and start a massive fire in your mouth, why make them? Catering Company, duh. Chowder is forbidden to open his mouth after eating the peppers. It only got worse when Mung, Schnitzel, and Truffles are doing a Loud-Mouth Souffle dish, because they start to use their mouths loudly, it's making Chowder unresistable to open his mouth, okay, if it's going to spread on Chowder, why bring him near the dish? Chowder makes the souffle looked burnt and stuff, and Chowder sadly finds another place in the world: to live with dragons. Chowder later digests the dish and goes back to Mung.

    Episode Grade: C-

Flying Finger Lingons: This was more annoying! It can't be worse than the Aborians episode. Chowder becomes idolized by the Lingons' talents on making a finest bread bowl, now Chowder starts shouting out ''hoopa!'' which is a little annoying. If this is going to happen to Chowder, why tell him about the Lingons? After a mess up with the bread bowl, Mung angers Chowder. Again! Chowder finds another place other than the kitchen: the Lingons! Chowder becomes a performer, and wrecks the Lingons circus. Making Chowder cry just happened in The Fire Breather! Why happen again?

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The Thrice Cream Man from the first season's titular episode makes a return cameo appearance in "The Fire Breather". Unfortunately, however, this episode also possibly marks his demise when Chowder's fiery breath melts him. (He has never appeared again since.)

    • Chowder seemed to have good handwriting in "The Broken Part", but he had bad handwriting again in "The Fire Breather".

    • In "The Fire Breather", Endive briefly appears without Panini by her side once again and no dialogues.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • (Mung, Shnitzel, and Truffles walk through the back door at the circus and are blocked by a Lingon)
Mung: Hurry up, man! Let us in! Everyone's gonna die! (Lingon guard points to sign that says "PERFORMERS ONLY") (Shnitzel starts playing the accordion while Mun starts singing) Well, I'm singing and dancing just like a performer; Which means I must be a per-former! (Lingon points to bottom of sign that says: "LINGON PERFORMERS ONLY") That's not the first time a sign's held me back.

    • Mung: (in Spanish) (subtitles at bottom say: These are very hot)
Chowder: Asbestos fo me ala gala gala?

    • Mung: (singing) Oh, yep, I hope nothin' happens to my yeast--
      Chowder: Hoopa! (smashes into Mung)

    • (Mung's moustache on fire)
      Chowder: Uhh, Mung?
Mung: Don't interrupt me while I'm monologuing, Chowder.
      Chowder: Mung!
      Mung: What is it, Chowder?!
      Chowder: You got a booger.
(Mung starts to scream with his moustache on fire and running around)

    • Mung: I'm a reasonable chef, right? Open-minded, considerate, empathetic?
      Chowder: Old?

    • (about Chowder setting the kitchen on fire)
Mung: Chowder, look what you've done! Now the animators are gonna have to draw all this fire!

    • Chowder: Ya.... Living with dragons is gonna be AWESOME!

    • Chowder: Peppers... Via con dios.

  • NOTES (10)

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Chowder's disastrous attempt to cool his mouth down with the Thrice Cream Man in "The Fire Breather" is a direct allusion to The Simpsons episode "The Mysterious Voyage of Homer", wherein after Homer burns his mouth eating Guatemalan chili peppers, he tries cooling his mouth down with ice cream, only to result in disaster when his hot mouth melts it.

    • The churros that Mung and Shnitzel buy in the circus are an actual Mexican dessert. It is a stick of flour coated with cinnamon and brown sugar, and filled with hot applesauce.

    • During the Fireheart song montage in "The Fire Breather", there's a quick snap of Chowder and Panini on top of a volcano. They are dressed similar to that of the famous "Beast Master" movies.

    • In "The Fire Breather," when Chowder returns home, he finds Mung with a new apprentice who resembles Droopy Dog. However when Mung sees Chowder, he kicks his new apprentice offscreen.
