  • Trivia

    • When Lester (and later Chuck) clips both jumper cables to the chain-link 'cage', the people who touch the fence afterwards are given a nasty shock. In reality, such a set-up would not result in any shock at all, since the electrical current would move from one battery terminal, through the part of the cage nearest the clips, and then back into the other terminal, completing the circuit. In order to give someone a shock, one terminal would need to be connected to the fence, and the other would need to be connected to the floor or ground, so that the circuit would be completed whenever some unlucky person comes in contact with the fence.

    • Featured Music:
"Space Monkeys" by Dust Brothers (The Nerd Herders use their secret sign language)
"Got Nuffin" by Spoon (Chuck helps Devon on the mission; Chuck needs help with the Ring)
"Bears" by Sam Isaac (Closing scenes)

    • Morgan's business card shows his address as:
      9000 Burbank Blvd.
      Burbank, CA 91506
      818-555-0120

    • The Wilhelm Scream is heard when Jeff electrocutes the cage in the fight club.

  • Quotes

    • Chuck: (Apologizing about kicking Lester) ... It was a completely knee-jerk reaction. You know what? I'm just gonna switch to decaf from now on.
Lester: It's not a problem. In fact, I wanna thank you. You've made me feel something I've not felt in a long time.
Morgan: Another human's foot in your body?
Lester: The thrill of being alive.

    • Devon: (Talking about Sidney) She knows everything about me, Chuck. Ellie too.
Sarah: Everything except who the real spy in the family is.
Casey: That's an understandable mistake. One of them looks like a spy the other one looks... like Chuck.
      Chuck: True.

    • (Chuck hacks a Ring communicator)
Sydney: How did you open this channel? Who is this?
Chuck: I'm the spy who killed Agent Shaw.
Sydney: This is not Devon Woodcomb.
Chuck: Yeah, well you've been dealing with the wrong guy. Devon was a decoy. I'm the one who put that bullet through Agent Shaw's chest last night, I'm the spy that you're looking for, and I am in charge of this mission now.

  • Allusions

    • When Morgan asks Jeff why everyone is beat up, he responds with "the first rule of Fight...." before being interrupted by Lester.

This is a reference to the book and movie Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.
The Buy More storyline mirrors the thesis of Fight Club, in which 20something males find meaning and purpose in their lives by participating in illegal underground fight clubs.

    • Near the end of the episode, Chuck greets Sarah and Casey with a "Hidey ho" that was reminiscent of Wilson Wilson, Jr. (Earl Hindman) on Home Improvement.

    • Lester: (in a high pitched voice) Morgan...come out and play.

This is an allusion to the 1979 film The Warriors, as it resembles the scene where the main villain (Luther) calls out the Warriors.

    • Morgan: Yeah, okay, you're rehired. But your on probation. Double-secret.
      Lester: Double-secret?

Double-secret probation was the concoction of Dean Vernon Wormer in the classic frat comedy Animal House (1978).

    • Lester: (impersonating Steven Seagal) I'm just a cook. A lowly cook.

Lester paraphrases a line from Under Siege (1992) by Seagal's Casey Ryback, a veteran Navy S.E.A.L. turned chef.
