Episode Summary

Chuck and Sarah's wedding planning includes one final detail: ensuring that the mother-of-the-groom makes it to the ceremony on time and alive. Meanwhile, Morgan's responsibilities as Best Man include his most dangerous mission yet, as he faces Vivian Volkoff. Elsewhere, Ellie tends to the last details of the rehearsal dinner and seeks help from an unlikely source.

  • Morgan's first solo mission! (kind of) (Spoilers)

This was a great episode. Not as funny as the previous one but it had all the charm you would expect from Chuck.

Morgan was forced to finally fly solo on a mission..and with Darth Vader music, how can you go wrong?! He's clumsy and less adaptable than Chuck but he's got resolve like no other.

Meanwhile, Chuck and Sarah head off to Colombia to rescue a recently captured Frost. Vivian is not quite the villain that her father was but she definitely brings her own flavor to the table. Nevertheless, I don't feel like she's the real replacement to her predecessor but rather a segue into something more intense...

The romance surrounding the wedding stuff was ultra thick like a Frosty from Wendy's - which I wasn't a huge fan of - yet it didn't feel out of place. And that's coming from a die-hard Chuck/Sarah fanatic!

The end of the episode was the real shocker! I'll leave that detail up to you to see.moreless
  • Made me glad I kept on watching.

This has been my least favourite season of Chuck without a doubt.

But amongst the mediocre episodes like Chuck Vs the Cubic Z and Chuck Vs The CAT Squad, there have been brilliant episodes like Phase 3, Wedding Planner, Couch Lock and Push Mix which have kept me glued to the screen and made sure I stayed with it. While Last Details may not have been this season's best, it's defiantly ahead of most of the pack.

The Star Wars references were coming at us a mile a minute, I can count at least 3 or 4 off the top of me head, some were a little forced, but Chuck humming the imperial march to bring out Morgan's inner Villain was the best by far.

I'm glad they didn't dwell on Chuck siding with his mom in Columbia for very long, my honest thought was "Not this again" but it was dealt with quickly and with just the right amount of drama, i thought it was a small time waster, but Mary's speech at the rehearsal dinner gave it it's emotional punch. I have mixed feelings about the video montage story thread, it really only had three scenes in the end, the presentation of Lester's cut was pretty creep and just felt tacked on for time, but the other two worked out, I love the small twist that Jeff made an actual cut of the montage under Lester's nose and it was BEAUTIFUL enough for Ellie was so happy with it she gave him a smooch...yeah, that was a little too much for my liking.

Thing that still bugs me, Alex barely gets any screen time. She's been here all season and the best she's had is 3-4 scenes in a subplot.

Next week looks great, please do not let it be the last!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Featured Music:
"Everything Falls Apart" by The One AM Radio (Sarah wakes Chuck up and reminds him that this is their day off)
"The Imperial March" by John Williams (Chuck psychs Morgan up to go to the bad guy meeting, Morgan enters the meeting)
"You Are A Tourist" by Death Cab For Cutie (Chuck & Sarah enter the courtyard, the rehearsal dinner without the rehearsal)
"First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes (Jeff's version of the montage)

    • "Ettore la Barba" is the name of the Italian weapons dealer arrested by the Interpol.
"la Barba" means "The Beard" in Italian which is also the nickname sometimes used by Casey to designate Morgan.

    • Parque Amacayu (where Vivian has her hideout in this episode) is a National Park in the Amazon Jungle. There are no mines (not allowed by law) and there are no roads leading there (no way to get by bus as the team does). To get to Amacayu you have to take a 2 hour boat ride from Leticia, the capital city of the Amazonas Province. And car plates are composed of 3 letters and 3 numbers.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Chuck: (to Mary) Mom, it's time to go.
Vivian: Mom? The woman who betrayed my father is the mother of the man who's betrayed me? Well, that makes sense.
Chuck: Vivian, there is still so much that you don't know and we need to talk about.
Vivian: No, I'm done talking to you.

    • Mary: Many of you might not know me, but I am Chuck's and Ellie's mom. Truth be told, I was gone for a long time, and now that I'm back in their lives, I sometimes overcompensate. But lucky for me, my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is very forgiving. She's never heard me say it, but Sarah is one of the strongest and one of the most amazing women that I have ever met. So I would like to propose this toast to her. Sarah, thank you for taking care of my Chuck. May you have many more adventures together, and may you always keep each other safe.

    • Morgan: You're telling me you are being a jerk because you care?
Casey: Yeah. Fat load of good it's done me, too.

    • Casey: Interesting choice... choosing your mom over your fianceé.
Chuck: Oh, come on, man, I was just trying to make everyone feel... (panicked) Wait a minute, wait, wait, is that really how it looked?
Casey: Just remember, Bartowski, Sarah's the one you're gonna be sleeping next to at the end of every day. She's the one you protect.

    • Ellie: Morgan?
      Morgan: Yes ma'am.
Ellie: We have more twinkle lights, don't we?
      Morgan: Yes ma'am.
Ellie: Because this place has to be magical.
      Morgan: Yes ma'am.
      Ellie: Magical! Morgan...
      Morgan: Yes ma'am.
      Devon: Honey, you're scaring me.
      Ellie: Just keep it moving.

    • Mary Bartowski (Linda Hamilton) is doing pull-ups in her cell.

This is an allusion to her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgement Day when she was in a scene doing pull-ups in her cell at the Pescadero State Hospital.
