Episode Summary

One small town becomes the focal point for a national crisis in City Confidential: Ruthton - Tragedy in the Heartland. It was during the recession of 1983 when father and son farmers Steven Jenkins and James Jenkins called two area bankers out to their recently foreclosed land. They were frustrated with the state of the agricultural market and the seemingly callous method in which their livelihoods were taken away. Like most of the nation's farmers, the Jenkinses were angry. It was the son who fired the fatal shots at the bankers, though he wouldn't admit it for 17 years. A&E interviews the townsfolk of Ruthton, past and present, and those investigators directly involved with the murders. Re-creations and archival footage provide insight on this desperate crime of passion.moreless
