This show was a detective drama set in 1930s Los Angeles (City Of Angels-get it?). Wayne Rogers played Jake Axminster, a private eye with his own code of ethics and, of course, perpetual money problems. Any similarity with the movie Chinatown was strictly on purpose. Jake even had a goofball secretary to bounce wise-cracks off of. The best thing about this show were the beautiful vintage automobiles used during its short run.moreless
