In this episode, Richard and Maria competed in the yard sale for one special prize from the Clean Sweep team. Richard sold $86.25 worth of stuff, as opposed to Maria's $51.10 and received the special prize --- an organizational basket. Maria, however, also received a prize --- a $100 donation to Out of the Closet in her name from the Clean Sweep team.
Clean Sweep on the Street: Peter talks with a little girl who's going on a plane trip by herself. He compliments her on her organizational skills and talks about how being organized helps a trip to go faster.
There was an unusual format for the initial sort in this episode. The initial pile was designated the Sell pile and items essential to the running of the thrift store were moved to the Keep pile. Trash, was of course, put in Toss. The items left in the Sell pile were sorted into various labeled groups during the main sort.
Tava: Let's walk through and I'll show you stuff. It's so cool.
Peter: We look after our volunteers and we make life easy. Classic example - vertical storage.
Tava: I think we should give them a little sneak peek at what's going on inside. How do you feel about that, Peter? Richard: (rubs hands together) Yes. Peter: No. Tava: Oh, come on!
Peter: Now, I leave you for... Tava: No. You stay with us because we have a little surprise for you.
Richard: We literally do not have a system at all.
Richard: We're full of great ideas, but there isn't a lot going on here.
