Due to the initial volume of stuff, Peter specified that "Keep" items simply be left where they were during the initial 30-minute sort.
The secret item in this episode was, surprisingly, not the Care Bear, but instead a painting of a landscape. It was sold by Mary and Tava did the certificate hand-off, saying this time that Mary had won the "secret prize" --- although most likely it was the usual dinner-for-two.
Clean Sweep on the Street: Peter talks with a lady about how she organizes for travel. He provides her with a small organizing folder for travel documents.
The chosen yard sale prizes in this episode were a needlepoint of Mary's deceased mother and a footlocker of John's. John sold $160.75 worth of stuff as opposed to Mary's $100.50 and got to keep the footlocker.
John: You guys should do this for a living. Tava: Yeah, we kinda do.
Tava: The Care Bear. Mary: Ah, the Care Bear. That'd be a hot item, I think. John: Cost me $2. Tava: Yeah, um, why don't we ask $3? We'll see if we can make a buck on him.
Peter: If you sell the sombreros for more than a quarter apiece, I will kill the three of you. Goodbye. Tava: (after Peter has left) I was thinking a dollar apiece.
Tava: (voiceover) Coming up --- will John strike the rightchord to keep his guitar, or will his efforts fall flat?
Tava: Okay --- 9,000 rolls of toilet paper. John: That's necessary. Mary: That's necessary.
Tava: You got boxes inside boxes here. John: I know. That's 'cause I'm neat.
Molly: You guys doubt me every time and every time it turns out great.
Tava: What are these? John: That's our filing system. Mary: (giggles) Tava: Take it to the Sell pile. We're gonna give you a filing system.
