"Little Big Pup"

Cleo and T-Bone are staring at a giant sign on a new store on Birdwell Island. It features a huge dog and they wonder what dog other than Clifford could be that big. Then, a voice coming from a show says that it's him. It turns out that the "big" dog is actually a very small dog. The sign was just made to make him look big. Then, Clifford comes along, sees the sign and wonders where the really big dog is. Cleo has fun letting Clifford wonder for a bit and then introduces him to the new dog, whose name is Frankie. Frankie thinks that Clifford is very big, while Clifford thinks that Frankie is very small. They ask if he wants to play with him and he agrees. So they go to the forest to play hide-and-seek, although Frankie has a little trouble getting atop Clifford to ride him. At the forest, Cleo is "it." She quickly finds Clifford (who can never hide well due to his small size) and she finds T-Bone quickly as well. Frankie, however, is hiding up in a tree and so Cleo can't find him. Clifford can, however, since the tree is about right at his eye-level. Frankie says that Clifford is a great finder and he wishes he could be like him. They all go over to Clifford's, where they get a drink of a water from Clifford's huge dish. Clifford has no problem lapping out of it and Cleo and T-Bone are able to reach it too. But Frankie is so small that he just can't seem to get up to it to drink out of it. He ends up falling into it and starts swimming around it. Afterwards, everyone has to go home for dinner. The next day, Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone return to the shoe store, hoping to play with Frankie. T-Bone and Cleo bark to get his attention, but it's not until Clifford barks that he finally hears them and comes out. He asks if he seems any taller and we see that he's wearing some makeshift stilts. He explains that he wants to be big like Clifford so he can run fast and be good at hide-and-seek and other things. The gang's not really sure why he needs to be like Clifford, but they think they know a way to make him bigger. Sheriff Lewis got T-Bone some new dog food which is supposed to make dogs big and strong. They'll have hi eat a whole bunch of that. They go over to Sheriff Lewis's, but since Sheriff Lewis isn't there, they have to try to squeeze in through a partially opened window. Clifford certainly can't do it and Cleo and T-Bone can't fit through either. It would seem that only Frankie can. He squeezes in and goes in and eats a whole bunch of the dog food. He eats so much that when it's time to exit again out the window, it's a tight squeeze. It would seem that the dog food did make him bigger- in the belly. They discuss the situation and tell Frankie that he doesn't need to be big like Clifford. He's good at a lot of things, like hide-and-seek and squeezing through small windows. He's just the right size for him.

"Getting to Know You"

Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone are playing freeze-tag. Cleo is determined to win and eventually she does, but it takes her longer than usual. As they talk, Clifford and T-Bone remember a time when they had difficulty playing together. It was when Clifford first came to the island. They had made friends with each other, but they weren't sure how to play with each other. On the first day, when they went to play fetch, Clifford was so fast that T-Bone kept getting left behind. And when T-Bone tried to show Clifford a shortcut, Clifford couldn't fit through. They eventually made it, but their fetch game proved problematic. Clifford got a huge stick which there was no way T-Bone could fetch. Then, T-Bone asked him to throw it far and he threw it way farther than T-Bone could reasonably be expected to go. So T-Bone had a try at it, but his stick was really small and he couldn't even throw it the length of Clifford himself. Next, they tried to go to the beach. But they weren't able to really do anything because Clifford went way far out into the beach, whereas T-Bone couldn't go very far at all without the water being too deep for him. Then, Clifford had to leave to pick up Emily Elizabeth from school. They agreed to play with each other the next day. As T-Bone is walking along, he runs into Mac. Mac says that he's seen T-Bone playing with the new dog, Clifford. He doesn't understand how they can play together, with Clifford being so big. They're just so different from each other. In any case, he doesn't have time to worry about it, as he's going to a dog show. He's after the prize of "best tail in show." As Mac walks on, T-Bone thinks about what he said. He and Clifford are different and so maybe they should try different ways of playing. So, the next day, they play fetch again, only this time when Clifford throws the stick, T-Bone hops on his back and rides most of the way to it and then T-Bone goes after it. And they go to the beach, T-Bone rides on Clifford and pretends to be a ship captain. Back in the present, Cleo comments that their story would make a great book. Then, Sheriff Lewis comes out with a giant tire. He says he's sure they'll all come up with a good way to play with it together.moreless
